I would love a cheaper version of it that simply molded in gold plastic. Would be easier on the eyes and I think it would correct most of the issues this model kit suffer from.
Is there a version of this kit that isn’t gold? Because if so I think it’d be easier to just paint it yourself afterwards

I feel like one that was the Gundam Base Limited Unicorn that had a more flat gold instead of this shimmering gold would’ve been a better choice. The gold on the GBL Unicorn still shines a bit, but it’s not as blaring as the Phenex. I’m still going to get the Phenex one day, but it’d be better if it’s gold was like that of the GBL

I typically get the RG kits specific for posing needs, while the MG and PG kits are more for static use(or I just rather not fiddle with them basically). So it is worth it, especially seeing as Bandai still has me waiting for an expansion set to add tails to the PG AADEs.
I saw this kit at my local hobby shop for $250CAD, while the gold-plated HG Phenex Destroy mode was $70CAD. That mark up is insane.
Cons: This definitely isn't worth the price, especially with the nubs that I know will drive me crazy. I'd end up having to fill them in and that's not fun at all. Best forget about it.
Pros: Shiny gold.

i saw some people fix the nubmarks by using gold plated tape pasted over it. it actually work quite well. i got this kit month ago, havent build yet, but seeing yall talking abt the nubmarks i gotta make some preparation to fix it so....

This thing is one of my favorite kits that I’ve built. Ran me about $200 usd after all was said and done, but I love having the full RX-0 trio in RG form.

Fantastic video! Your in-depth dive into the details made me really excited to build this one even with the drawbacks. Do you have any tips for how to remove the plated pieces to minimize nub problems? And I gotta ask, if you don’t mind... what kind of setup do you use for the rotating stand? That adds so much to this that a static action base won’t provide!

I was honestly expecting this kit to get put in Gold Tier because, well, gold.
Anyways, I really wish that Bandai will just make a standard release of the Phenex but instead of having it be gold plated it's just a gold metallic injection.

obviously it's gold in-fiction, but if you want accuracy a mustardy yellow would be better, unlike say the Akatsuki where it was actually chromed in the show

Uhhh he bought masterpiece optimus prime 3.0 and it almost the same price as that and i don't think he have the money for that
So to answer Mecha’s question, the HG ver is electro plated and the RG is electro plated then sprayed with a clear yellow to add that warm gold like color, also the blue plastic is of a lighter density then the regular blue used for the unicorn, making it a bit more transparent in light

The MG Phenex and RG Amatsu Mina plated version have plated gold pilot figures.
Also the RG Perfectibility Unicorn is the most expensive RG, and it had the Armed Armor DE tails before this Phenex RG did.
I'm content with the BB Senshi and the SDCS versions. They don't hurt the wallet, and they're also articulate enough to pull the poses I want.

The backpack mounting arms for the Armed Armor DE's are lifted directly from the RG Perfectibility
Makes me wonder if Bandai will ever release the PG Phenex Narrative version with the tails (stabilizers) and a different tone of shiny plated gold.
Wow that's a hefty price tag and learning that some pieces are not stable is some nice information, if I ever buy one. Like this RG kit.
What would be cool is for them to release an rg with clear psychoframe so one can make a custom color
Honestly, I doubt I'll grab one any time soon but to me it's definitely worth the price. The nub masks were hardly noticeable to me, and if they get too nasty I'm not against breaking out some gold paint and finding a color match.

You can buy aftermarket wings and I think even the headcrest to customize a much cheaper RG unicorn into this.
Seeing this makes me want a Magnamon model kit in the Digimon Figure-rise Amplified line.

For a premium kit, i don't think bandai should cut costs by not providing rita bernal as the small figurine. I did pre order it though.

The gold on the HG actually look a lot brighter, while the RG looks darker . Maybe just the cam

Honestly im just gonna get an RG Unicorn, buy the effect wings armed armor DE’s that comes with a transformable Phenex Horn as well as the stabilizers for the tails and paint it gold and Metallic blue. The total will be just about half of what the phenex is uaually going for now and daya

If you only want it the new tail stabilizers, there's third party one from a company named EffectWing. they make armed armor VN/BS set that also comes with the tails. VN/BS parts can be attached to Hg Unicorns too, but the tails are only designed to fit Rg shields, They also make another set that includes two Rg armed armor DE with connector pieces for both Hg/Rg backpack and transformable Phenex's V-fins for Rg (But can't fold back in unicorn mode, just close and open action) in 1/144 scale, there are 4 color options for both set that's white with red psycoframes, white with green, black with yellow and yellow(uncoated Hg Phenex color) with blue. I got both sets in a price that would be around 10$ each.
PS. the tail parts I presume are copied from Rg Unicorn Perfectibility. it also uses the double wire like the one in this video.

I have a question for you: Can the BB Senshi Kits be used with the Cross Silhouette line's Booster parts or do they need extensive modification in order to do so?
The only thing I could ever want this kit for is its backpack sub arms for holding the Armed Armor DE units.

We did have that. You can only get it by buying an expensive blu-ray set of MSGUC, which it came with.
It would be nice if they gave us a non-plated version of this kit for regular retail. Yes, it's puke gold, but at least I'll have a project to paint.
Look on the bright side. The rg perfectibility is coming out as a gundam base exclusive, if you're ever visiting japan, korea, etc.
I guess now we need to put Akatsuki's 'beams go back at you' kind of Reflection on the NT Phenex since it is so Shiny it can reflect beams...
will the paint guide on the manual help on determining the differences on shade of gold between hg and rg?.. im really really havin a hard time deciding to pick up this kit..

Just bought it last month and there's no transformable V-fin plus the parts are brittle
Trust me having the MG/PG, it was better not having the v-fin transform. unlike the uni/banshee it doesn't just fold in half, there's a 2nd hinge to make it a mohawk. That would make the fin either too fragile or ridiculously thick.

Specifically with the RG Unicorn mold, I've found it helps to sand the pin the V-fins attach to eeeeeeeever so slightly. Just enough for them to slide on and slide off with ease. Wish I'd come up with that sooner ;w;

I just got the rg banshee Norn as a replacement, I had the unicorn originally. I don’t get the usual complaints except the arm parts inside the chest

By what I can tell in the video I think the hg has a slight green hue and the rg’s second colour if it exists and not just the light is closer to champagne gold versus the first colour witch is closer pure gold
Btw don’t take what I said as 100% correct it is just what I thought from what I saw witch can be affected by the light in the room or the screen on my phone
I would be terrified of this thing falling, scratching, getting chipped or UV damage

There is another kit that have goldish pilot figure especially in rg line. It is both goes to rg amatsu mina special coating and rg amatsu special coating. Both of them are p bandai item and i have both so i know that they have.

I come seeking knowledge! How have you not broken any of your RG Unicorns’ shoulder pieces (the little L-shaped piece with the three holes)?! I want to get this kit but due to past experiences with the previously mentioned pieces, I’ve been too scared to. What is your secret to not breaking them???
They should've used the type of gold plating they used for that gold rg unicorn gundam base limited. That one looks sharper to be honest

The MG unicorn Gundam might just be my least favourite kit of all time. I built 2 (HD and perfectibility) and will never build one again. I find it janky, awkward and with a tedious build. I can imagine the nubs on a plated kit would be hell.
I’m really disappointed they never adopted the MGEX into a cheaper variant like a unicorn 2.0 made variants of that.

Hey Mecha, do you have any problem on your Unicorn's wrist? Mine became too tight to the point where I broke it in an attempt to move it. It happened to my Banshee as well, and I've been calling it the Tight Wrist Syndrome, where the Kit's, specifically the Unicorn family, wrist became tighter overtime.
Honestly considered getting this kit... and then just decided to get some after market armed armor conversion kits and turn my full armor unicorn into a Full Armor Unicorn Plan A+B
instead...
