Hey B- I'm a longtime viewer of yours, but I don't think I've ever commented. I'm an atheist and have been since I was a teenager, but I wanted to let you know that you've opened my eyes and heart to those who are actively religious. I was never hateful or unnecessarily skeptical, but rarely did I take the time to listen to viewpoints from a religious perspective, as I do not share the same philosophy.
Anyway, I just want you to know that I ADORE you and a huge smile crosses my face when I see you post. I love your empathy and principles and am so grateful for your perspective that I'd never hear otherwise.

to address his argument that police face a greater risk so they should be getting paid more; teachers face very similar risks every single day AND they don’t have any way to protect themselves from those risks. he’s a 2A supporter though so i doubt he cares about that.
Absolutely- teachers face so much danger on a daily basis so he should probably factor that into his opinion.

B I think you’re so right about the comfort in the extreme views so it absolves one from having to think. It’s funny he had a Make America Think Again shirt when i think critical thinking is really lacking in this country. Especially amongst those who reflexively and blindly support a particular political candidate. And I can’t stand the blanket criticism of teachers. A lot and I mean a lot of our societies issues would be alleviated by properly funding education.
But the night sky is blue! There is always some light level from other celestial bodies - is Jordan unaware of the existence of the moon?!

Thank you for this - and to your last point, this is 100% so important. People finding comfort in the extremes so that they don't have to grapple with the very GREY reality of, reality, is a massive issue. Putting on these personas and speaking in a way where you offer no nuance in your perspective because it attracts views is really terrible for our society which is already so deeply polarized.
It IS hard to empathize. It's hard to see that others are humans just as we are humans. It's hard to see that people have reasons for being how they are, thinking what they think and living how they live - when those ways of being are so different from us - but without this, we have no chance of creating a better future for everyone.
It may feel comfortable in the moment to be in an extreme, but in the long run it only makes life more uncomfortable.
Of course we want to feel like we're right, of course we want to assume those with different ways of being/opinions are just WRONG as a way of making ourselves feel safe and validated. But this doesn't actually make us safe. It only makes us more insular and stuck in our own problems - because the more we double down on our point of view, the harder time we have learning, and the more that means when we're stuck, we're stuck!
Having empathy for the perspectives of others and realizing that life is grey and messy is the doorway to good problem solving and to connection with others.

Jordan may have very well been within his “rights”… and that’s part of the issue! this is one of the MANY reasons verbal de-escalation techniques need to be taught and actually practiced. also, i train in MMA and even with weekly practice i can’t always safely prevent a fall when a leg sweep is performed. & it hurts on padded ground; can’t imagine falling on concrete! of course the suspect didn’t “fight back;” he wasn’t prepared to be taken down like that 🤦🏽♀️

If I remember correctly, the KC PD has notoriously been one of the most corrupt and apathetic police departments in the US. If my memory serves me correctly, they cover their own, dismiss victims and families of victims, and overall lack motivation to keep public safety.

Very weird that the possibility of him being on pcp leading to the possibility of him becoming violent warrants an actual violent action. If he states this was by the book, this only further solidifies why people want some serious police reform. This is a lose lose for Jordan imo. Either he did something wrong and not by the book, or the police dept is wrong and corrupt, which would still make Jordan wrong for participating in that.
Also so corny to pledge to vote a specific way without knowing the actual candidates. Like this is why this country is shit.

Hey, I've worked in secure psychiatric facilities and while our training is different from theirs, I find his description incredibly sus, though I'm not sure whether I'm suspicious of him or his employer.
A pain compliance technique is similar in purpose to using a joint lock in judo or wrestling, the point is to inflict pain to get someone to stop what they're doing. I was only ever taught one, it was specifically only for use if someone had you pinned against a wall and was trying to strangle you i.e. your life is at imminent risk. The next year on my refresher training they had come up with an alternative to it. Generally the impression we were given is that if you have an alternative to using pain compliance you always should, both for the obvious ethical reasons and because if you are dealing with someone whose pain tolerance is high, you're wasting time.
If you have two people it's really not that hard to immobilise someone without applying pain. You don't even need to take them to the ground unless they keep fighting when you pin their arms. TBH, in a scenario like this you honestly don't need to immobilise the guy. He's got his hands up. You're still in a talking situation, you don't have to escalate it.

Jordan, night is not the absence of light. Night is a reduction of light. Some nights are darker than others, but this is such a dumb take especially when used as an illustration of how stupid he believes someone else to be. Bro almost every night there will be moon or stars visible or casting light over cloud cover. If there was actually no light we would be literally blind at night time.
I also HATE his PCP rant. Its the same justification that they used for killing George Floyd. This whole "dangerous black man on ___ drug" is such a stereotype... drug abuse doesn't make you inhuman or innately dangerous. That person is sick and needs help, not violence
