My shifter was wobbling, took the console trim off then pushed on the bolts on the shifter until the clips clicked with a breaker bar boom! No more wobble thanks for posting!
Thanks for the tutorial. Never know how to start on these things without some tips. By the way, I didn’t trim the corners. I put my thumbs on top and fingers on the sides as far forward as possible, squeezed fingers towards thumbs while pushing the whole piece forward and it popped right in nice and easy.
Your welcome! That's good to hear that you didn't need to trim the corners. I did mine just to make it easier to get in and out since I need to access it for the ambient lighting I installed. Thanks for watching.
Do you mean you used your fingertips to push the trim piece underneath inward as you pushed the top panel forward? I was thinking of trying that and figured I would just get stuck and have to break something, so did it actually work? Or is that not really what you meant? I ended up making those cutshe mentioned with a pair of end nips, and that outcome was awesome 👌 After I did it, I realized it was not sitting flush the first time I had reassembled it without the mod 😅
Thanks for the tip. The gray surface on my trim are scratching off revealing black underneath and looking bad. so I wanted to just spray paint the whole thing black. Your video really helped!
Holy lord, great videos on F150led installs but that Minnesotan or Wisconsin accent is undeniable! Don’t cha know? You betcha! What is your favorite “hot dish?”
Thanks for the video. If I follow these steps, then can I retrieve a key and credit card that slid forward on top of the ashtray cover? They have fallen into the abyss, and I am not sure which area of the center top and or lower console I should remove.
You will probably need to remove this center console to access the forward storage compartment. From there, you will be able to look into the abyss and find your lost treasurer! Good Luck~
I just lost something in the abyss as well (poor design). Did you have any luck removing the lower shift console as shown in this video or do I need to remove the front console?
@@DeanoOutDoors Nice! From Peshtigo but been in Alaska since 1984. We bought 10 acres north of Wausaukee to retire on. Helpful video btw. I have a 2016 F150 Lariat Sport supercrew that I lowered and supercharged. Love it.
Very nice and calm video. I love it Can u do a video how and where u cut the trip piece at the end of center console? I removed it and it was very hard and it was even harder to put it back on Also I lost few of white clips on center console while i was doing it. Do u know where i can get them and what size they are. Thank u so much
Thank you! I had the same issues re-installing. So I used a side cutter to notch out the plastic on the trim and also removed a slight angle from the bottom front of the base where the trim slides back in ( watch at 2:03) . You can get the plastic fastener clips here - www.amazon.com/Rexka-Console-Retainer-Mercury-Challenger/dp/B07FW25CGD ~ Hope this helps!

Very good information! I was able to only clip the front bottom tab corners on the console and it snapped right back into place.

Your welcome. I thought about wrapping mine to give it a carbon look.
This just happened to mine as well. 🤦🏻♂️ not sure what route I’m going to go. Did you paint yours?
Thanks for this good info boss
You are welcome!

I know it’s more work but you can take off the dash trim before removing the center console trim. Makes it so it doesn’t bind.
Is the removal and install the same for the 2022 F150? Thank you sir
I am not sure about the 2022 model year, sorry.
@@DeanoOutDoors No worries. I’ll figure it out. Thanks
How do you change the shift knob?
I have not attempted this yet. But will look into it.
I have to ask where you are...gotta be the midwest or Canada.
Ya der eh. Wisconsin.

@@DeanoOutDoors Thank you so much for your detailed info
No need to use clips and trim up your plastic, it just takes the right angle. Bit of a pain, but no need to trim!
Yes, you can do it without trimming, just showing how to make it a little easier to reinstall. Thanks for watching!
Get trim remover tools…hate seeing people use screwdrivers on trim!!!!
Yes, I have since purchased a set of trim removal tools. If your careful, a screwdriver can work as well.
