I’ve been using this method since like forever but this is the first time I’m seeing it on youtube. The problem with this method is that you can’t get it done like you thought you would. In movie filters they get rid of certain colors from the beginning, this method doesn’t get rid of those colors it applies the fix based on the reference. I learned that when I once tried to duplicate the effects of the French movie ‘Amélie’. To get the best results, get a ref frame with the most colors.
@@FastlaneProductions1 ideal for beginners and new editors whom aren’t doing lengthy projects. Usually movies are made with near-perfect lighting. That’s why custom LUTs exist. I use my own custom LUTs tho
I’ve used color wheel and match for getting all my shots in the same ball park when editing but never thought of using it like this before. Great idea!
Exactly, and also proper exposure, white balance, properly color balancing before grading - videos like these are the reason everyone thinks "oh, editing is easy...you just click a button"
Yes and davinci is industry standard for color grading dor reason... The movie you wanna steal from high chance it color graded in resolve to start with.
That's always an option, nothing against color grading yourself. But, if you don't have the time or haven't mastered that skill yet, LUTs are a great pick 🙂
Does anybody know if its possible to steal fx or textures from say like old album covers. Let’s say someone wanted to do the effect of Jeff Becks Wired cover or Jimi Hendrix Band Of Gypsies album cover. Is there a way to steal textures or fx to use on your own pictures?
Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Not even close. I mean, it's alright if you send this as a reference to a colorist, but you can clearly see that the colors are all wonky and the blacks are crushed to oblivion
Overall I actually agree with you. This would not pass for a professional colorist by any mean; however so many creators are new and in the process of learning and color correction / grading can be an overwhelming process at first (I know it was for me).
@@MotionArrayTutorials hi..i mean sometimes ..it does not work like in your video. i tried to match the footage.. but it turn the next footage very horrible. But if I turn off the face detection option it somehow holds the color of footage I want to match with. love your video. Namaste from India. thank you.
I can finally use the yellow filter for Mexico in Breaking Bad
Haha, perfect! 😄

Waltuh
😂😂😂
Wdym filter? Mexico IS yellow 😶
This helped me I had a client who needed color grading for product I copied color grading of Amazon product video and he loved it
Good stuff. Make sure to make good lighting at all times to make it work, though!
100% 😄🙏
Excellent - totally worked!!! Thanks 🙏
Brilliant short and perfect for us newbies 😁
Glad you think so! 😄
Saying color grade and premiere pro in same sentence is illegal 😂 color grade = davinci resolve !!
😂😂😂

You could always use this as a baseline and tweak from there.

This comparison view and match works for me MAYBE 1% of the time.
Oh no, would be interesting to know what kind of footage you work with. It gets 90% of the way there for me most of the time 😄
Resolve can do it directly and automaticly from reference picture :D
True! 😄
Man a colour change made that guy so mysterious
It's amazing what color can do! 😄🙏
I’ve used color wheel and match for getting all my shots in the same ball park when editing but never thought of using it like this before. Great idea!

I wanted this so bad😂😂🔥🔥🔥 thank you.
So glad to hear! 😄
Holy crap this is amazing
So glad you think so! 😄
… and now… how do we do the same for Davinci Resolve?
Go to the color page, click on clips and then ctrl click on the match and click “shot match to this clips”
„OMG THIS IS SO NEEWWW!“ 💀
😄
Big part of that shot is obviously the lighting, not just the color grade. You can't fake great lighting with just a color grade.
True, couldn't agree with you more Brett 😄 color match is a good tool but it's not a magic wand
Exactly, and also proper exposure, white balance, properly color balancing before grading - videos like these are the reason everyone thinks "oh, editing is easy...you just click a button"
You need one more step which is secondary color grading using HSL secondary and select the skin or mask a color on the face
This colour matches only works as same like reference shoot ex if the reference shoot is portrait shoot same video u need otherwise it will not work
True, thanks for the clarification 😄
This is actually great advice thank you
Glad you think so! 😄
i love you for this one man
My pleasure! 😄

Dope trick. I’ve had to do this for
Much more pedestrian reasons. (Matching stock, lol)

How can a colour grade be illegal to take, like its just saturation or whatever??
We were making a joke, partially 😅

I can’t find the comparison view in my premiere pro cc2015
Oh no, it’s not in that version 😢
This is is good but how do you exit the color matching mode, my screen is still split 😂😂
and the legit way to use this is you do your own color grading on one clip and copy that grade to the rest of your clips....
That's always an option, nothing against color grading yourself. But, if you don't have the time or haven't mastered that skill yet, LUTs are a great pick 🙂

hello sir i have a doubt , if i copy colour grade youtube download video and apply in my own footage and upload in youtube .. is it legal ?

You can color grade in Resolve, absolutely!
How do I save this for later?😂

Wow!
😄
This function doesn't even half work. If you want to grade do not use Premiere Pro it's good at cutting footage, and that's it.

Wait what is the illegal version of this? Asking for a friend or something
Lol, I'm not allowed to say that 🕵

A way to do this in Photoshop?
Those LUTs won't work with Photoshop, but they do work with After Effects, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve 🚀
