Tramp, never give up the Evo, I remember back when you made the trade for it. I’ve been off the Tube for a while but to my coming back to watch, I can’t tell you how much I love seeing you keep the Evo on the road. I love old shovels too, don’t get me wrong, I’m just more partial to my Evo. I was thinking recently about getting back to filming trips and particular things all on my 97 Evo. (Softail Springer) Seems like everyone wants to do new bike reviews and new bike journeys and all, and that’s cool. I like old school though and not this fad of younger dudes trying to relive the 60’s and 70’s with mustaches and choppers. Anyhow, have a great time and ride it hard. Being in way down southern Georgia, I may ride mine your way some time.
That gets you closer to the original Harley spirit and feel, what riding was once all about. I'm seriously considering swapping my '72 ElectraGlide cop bike back over to the tank shifter it originally had before I bought it, and the previous owner swapped it out.
Honestly that's a smart move, a safer one too. As an example I'm a long time shooter and all of my handguns that, hopefully never, may have to be used for defensive purposes have the same control schemes and operate in a nearly identical manner. Life or death situations are not the time to learn new controls and standardizing your bikes to all have the same "manual of operations" will pay off if you need to perform a sudden maneuver to avoid a crash and in your case that means hand shifts and foot clutches because that's where your muscle memory is.
It's funny that a couple places you go I go. I live in NW ARk and used to drive a cement mixer through Eureka Springs Ar, and I have family I visit in Alton Il. lol
Holy shit!! I thought you dumped it at first and you were showing us the carnage when I saw the missing lever! Phew!! I love it! Just cut off that lever boss for instant old school without losing the modern switches and mirror. ❤✌
Beautiful man , lete know when or if you come to Niagara falls Canada because I can't get into the states for some strange reason. Come meet hospitality at it's best. Love to hang out for awhile to gain some knowledge. Pulse the Canada side is nicer and cheaper 🤣
I'm a diehard EVO guy and I dabble in a flathead. I think what you did there is great! BTW, I run the pepto bismol- looking tranny fluid, Keep my shifter pawl and my primary chain in adjustment, and 75% of my shifting is clutch-free. Hand clutch, heel/toe shifter. Hey what year is that softail?
Just started leaving comments, don't know how to post Pic of mine but will figure out eventually. Enjoy, riding season is not quite here in the north yet.
I have 5 bikes all take time to get use to braking , clutching , ect . Foot clutch for safetey reason I would question going back and forth . But your bike . be safe.
Cool stuff. My 42 45 had hand shift foot clutch, but it was a rocker clutch, not a suicide clutch like yours. Anyway, I had never ridden a bike with a hand clutch until a friend let me ride his Triumph. The only thing different was the shifter was on the right side like the first Sportsters were. Brings back memories of the old 45 though. The hand shift foot clutch was around for a long time. Pretty neat job you did. I bet it did taking a little to get use to it. How many times have you reached for the hand clutch lever? Makes ya think don it.
Did you make the clutch setup or was it from a kit? Beware that you don’t over extend the clutch cable. It could pull the end out of the clutch mechanism
It's yours so due whatever you want to it.. that's my opinion.. people would really not like what I about did to my deluxe a few months ago until my son who loves the bike talked me out of it.. I was going to have the frame stretched and raked, turning it into a modern long and low chopper that looks like its from the old school.. guess I'm just gonna get me a softail standard to due it to now..
Man, that's the same thing as hammer vs. striker fire. If it's what you prefer. Switch the manual of arms to fit. Nothing that gets done can't be un done. Ride on, brother.
The tongue of the seat slid right into place. Was able to get the plastic piece from the back seat to fit under the cushion part of the front seat; therefore all is held in place by the screw that holds the rear seat to the frame.
Good thing you don’t ride a Bultaco, or you would be trying to put the shifter on the right and the rear brake on the left. The hardest bike for me to get used to riding was a Pan with a tank shift, foot clutch and the distributor advance on the left grip.
I remember some of my friends would use the foot clutch and shift the tank shifter with thier knee-I think i tried it once or twice but i really don’t remember the outcome, just thought I’d tell you of one of the crazy things we would try to do ,before drugs came along-if any one is successfully at this ,let us know how you made out,but be careful out there ,try it in a parking lot ,
HA HA some people thought you bumped your head when you traded your twin cam for the EVO now you really hurt your self with a suicide clutch a say yr. have having fun with it we live in AMERCIA after all HAPPY TRAILS
@@whiteashpiperwhiteashpiper5447 Been asked that before. I have no idea why my surroundings haven't rubbed off on me. I guess it might be because I've always been a little bit of a grammar nazi.
I was mistaken. The bike night will be at Cow and Coop's on Hwy 42. Not at the bike shop.
Make it Yours, what you supposed to do

Small world, huh?
I put jockey shift on my 04 Wide Glide. I like it. Just takes a couple of miles to get used to shifting.
What have you done to my bike?!?!?! LOL That's pretty cool man!

When You make Your bike the way You want to ride it Your making it a bike You will want to keep and ride for ever. No shame in that. 🤟😎

I had plenty of practice on the shovelhead, so it wasn't too hard to get used to.
@@SaddleTrampTV Oh yeah, I forgot about the shovel. Made the transition easy.

Hiyer mate,
What are those covers on the crash bars called, and where are they available?
I'm in the UK and it's cold and wet, they're a great idea
They're called "soft lowers". I found these on ebay. You can get them pretty much anywhere on line.
I'll always prefer hand clutch.
I hear ya
You can remake a Softail into anything. Look what Harley did to make it into a new Hydraglide.
Year really
stay awesome mate !!
make it your own 👍🏻
Too cool 👍👍
God bless you brother
You too, man
What did you have to do to get that seat to fit? Looking for more options than what is offered for the 84 to 99s

Hi, what Valve breather do you have? Thanks😊
Not sure the name brand. Came on the bike when I got it.
ok, the bike has a lot of miles on it?
do you think the valve was replaced?
all it needs now is a kicker.
I've thought about that.
