    Sounds great!! I've got a Marshall Plexi Super Lead with the PPIVMV mod. It's a killer amp!

    Great sounding ! I wonder what’s the different in sound compare to pre phase inverter

      It sounds far better. Clearer bass, clearer mids, no fuzzy, ratty sound. Gets near the same grind up high as it does down low

    pretty good for master volume, I have been thinking about doing this to a couple of my amps, a circa 74 - 4 input JMP and a recently constructed JTM45 Plexi clone, both amps running EL34's . You and I are opposites on those EQ settings though, I run the bass up around 7/8 and prefer the other tone knobs down around 3. I also patch the channels and add even more bottom end by blending in volume 2. I've found these tone settings to work equally well with both strats and Les Pauls in a 1 guitarist does it all (3 piece) format. Both my amps are single 12 open back Blues Breaker style combo's with Celestion Vintage 30's to handle the power.

      I'd say try it on one of them and see what you think. I think it's a great mod and easily reversible. This has become my main practice amp now that I can run it at whatever volume I please. It sounds best with the MV at or above half way, but it works fine for practicing even at whisper quite volumes when needed. Let me know what you think if you try it!

    How about running a jump wire between the channels and running the bass up to 4 or 5? See how huge and thick it can get.

      Unfortunately I don’t have the amp anymore, but jumping channels works great.

      Speakers *are* electric guitar tone. So nice to see someone else who "gets it"! All amps do is provide varying degrees of gain and output.

    Hi! Did the same mod but my 1987 sounds like a cheap fuzz pedal and eq control is not responding at all if I run the MV under half.
    Were you apllying the mod by yourself? Is there any possibility that you'd send me some pictures of your MV wiring?
    I'd really love to crank this baby a little bit in my flat.
    Cheers!

    • @DoesItDoom
      @DoesItDoom  8 лет назад

      Hey there, I didn't do the mod myself, no. I'd say it sounds best with the MV at or above half.

    • @hatta1991
      @hatta1991 8 лет назад +1

      It's the same thing on my 1987x. (Bright Cap was changed to 100nf, the PPIMV was set in by a AMP Technik)
      A little bit more than half way, it sounds not good.
      Its better whenn you bring in more Bass controll and bridge the Channels. Channel one about 4-6 and channel two about 2-3. Bass 5, Trebble and Middle about 2 and Presence 0.
      With this Setting in sounds better on low Volumes, but never as good the JTM45.
      I Think its because the 1987x has way more Power than the JTM. (50W vs 30W)
      On my Linnemann JTM45 Hadnwired the PPIMV sounds really really good and way better than on the 1987x.
      I can turn it down to about 1/4 and it sounds really good :)
      The JTM is way more bassyer than the 1987x.

    • @DoesItDoom
      @DoesItDoom  8 лет назад +2

      hatta1991 yeah. The JTM 45 has a lot more bass than my 1987x had and a a definite difference in attack due to the tube rectification as well.

    • @hatta1991
      @hatta1991 8 лет назад +1

      Yeah, you are right!
      I've modded my JTM45 to Solid State Rectifier and It's a lott tighter now. It has much more clean Headroom.
      Next year i Change the Tubes from KT66 to EL 34 and a few little other things to make it sound like the JTM 50 Blackflag with Solid State.

      @michaelcraig9449 6 лет назад +1

      This is re-issue prices, correct? How about the other 2 plexi era amps that are in re-issue, how much are they? I believe they are the 1959 super lead and the 1987x. I am trying to do as much research as possible on this, as Marshall themselves does not seem to write back to potential customers.

    • @DoesItDoom
      @DoesItDoom  6 лет назад +1

      That's for a reissue, yes. All you really have to do is watch prices on reverb.com or ebay for a couple weeks to get a handle on used prices for the reissue market. I would think that you should be able to pickup a use 1987x for somewhere around $1000-1200, and a 1959 for around $1200-1400, maybe cheaper. I traded a $700 guitar for a used 1987x at some point, just to give you an idea. Vintage stuff will run much more expensive. My advice is be patient and keep a close eye on craigslist, reverb, and ebay. Great deals pop up all the time, you just have to be able to snatch them up because the good deals disappear fast.

      This video was the third one I ever uploaded, over 4 years ago, before this was really any sort of focused channel at all. That said, if you're playing doom, you probably don't want a JTM45.

    Forgive me for being a novice on amp technical specs. Will an amp such as the JTM 45, have no tonal difference with the master volume on full? Otherwise tone will be effected?
    I was thinking of getting a clone 45 and there is the option for a master volume. I don't really know what to do, initially I was thinking of not having a master volume and use a tube screamer for dirt. I know the TS will effect the tone.
    I read somewhere that Angus young always preferred his non-master volume Marshalls. Maybe it was his JTM's, but it could have been other early models.
    Is it something you can have, but also isolate from the circuit when not used? Master volume may be good for me, considering I will not use the extra power the 45/100 has over the standard 45.

    • @DoesItDoom

      Mark Bellamy a MV on a JTM 45 should be done post phase invertor (PPIVMV). If so when you max it out it will have no effect on the tone. I had this amp before the install and after, and I really can't tell a difference when MV is full up. Highly recommend it.

    • @kikomarty4337
      @kikomarty4337 7 лет назад

      Cool, thanks. Do you have an opinion on a 45 vs a 45/100. Tube rectifier in the JTM45 vs. SS rectifier in the JTM 45/100?

    • @DoesItDoom
      @DoesItDoom  7 лет назад +1

      Mark Bellamy I just personally prefer tube rectification at this time since I play mostly blues. For harder rock or metal, I prefer the sharper attack of a solid state rectifier though. Even blues at times. Tough call there but not a huge deal either way.

    • @davidwolfe9391
      @davidwolfe9391 7 лет назад

      A stock JTM 45 will never produce those tones at a low volume, don't kid yourself. The preamp in this amp has been cascaded or modded to 1987 specs. Everything in a JTM 45 preamp is relatively clean prior to the phase inverter. JMP series amps are totally hotter and better for classic rock.
