@@JohanSegeborn JTM50? I didn't even know they made a JTM50! Hey rock-on Johan!
That 1971jmp super lead 50 watt is an amazing amp, very cutting sound and articulate but still has that thick marshall tone..all your amps here are awesome!
Thank you so much for this, Mr. Segeborn. This is so helpful for those of us deciding which model would best suit our playing. I think I've been converted from SLP to Blackflag JTM50.
God, that Black Flag JTM50 No. 2 is incredible! Did you ever take a look under the hood of that one? Something makes it scream something crazy! Sounds perhaps tube rectified vs the other solid state rectified because of the way it responds to strum amplitude. Thanks for all the videos! I know it takes a lot to do them.
Thanks so much for playing the same riffs across the different amps. That really helps differentiate the sounds of each amp... Appreciate your technique as well... Thanks for the video!
That JTM50 #1 has the archetypical ideal Marshall sound. Assuming you had maxed the treble, presence and mids, which seems to be your preference, looks like this amp always sounds full detailed organic, but not a hint of brashness or harshness that is inherent to some of the others (of course, some people like that)
Some beautiful organic sounds in here. I didn't really understand the appeal of a Marshall until I maxed a JTM45 reissue. It seems this kind of tone is partly due to be *so* loud.
OMG, the pile of $ you are sitting in front of is simply amazing! Ha, sell every amp, pile up the money earned, cover it with snow and ski down it all day long in one long run. Incredible. Love your chanel. Your playing represents these amps better than anything I have, or will ever hear. We are so lucky to have you putting these videos up. Thanx a million.

John fantastic fantastic video thank you very much! I got a pretty good idea now how they all sound. Ive always played 64 blackface bassmans through a old Marshall basket-weave a cabinet was Celestia and green backs. And I found vox ac30 I was very very happy for many years where's my 63 coppertop 6 hole with tremolo ac 30 With the silver bell celestion alnico speakers. Then I heard one of your videos last year or two ago if you playing through the jtm45 and I was absolutely floored!! It sounded really good but but in a different way then the vox. He also played you I think it was either 66 or 67 jtm45 in a buddy of yours had modded and I would think even you were quite sure of all the mines that were actually done to it but that once entered amazing too..
Mr. Segeborn...are there any circuit breakdown videos for 1967 JTM50 Black Flag No. 2? I have heard this amp multiple times and forgive me but this sucker gives me chills every time I hear it!!!

Another nice vid. 2 questions: #1. So you get the call to sit in with Clapton at Royal Albert Hall - which one do you bring? and with which guitar? #2. Hows your tinnitus these days?
Thanks Matt, #1 of course I don't deserve to go anywhere near Clapton on a stage, but for argue's sake I'd choose a 67-68 JMP 50W with a '71 1960A 4x12 and a '10 Les Paul Custom '57RI. #2 my Tinnitus is actually the best it has been for 25 years. Most turned out to be stress related :-) ... an unexpected bonus. The plexis in this clip are not mine unfortunately though. Cheers Johan
For some reason, those old super basses are just so creamy. love that '68..wife doesn't understand, thinks they all sound the same..HA! ..just love coming home from work, dinner and for dessert...15 plexis..thanks again Johan!
The JMP 50s from 67, 68, and, 69 sound the best; sound like they push enough bass, yet, they have strong middle-defined presence, AND, they also have the high frequencies well articulated, and, offering much dynamics through middle and highs...really nice...but, they all sound really good- the JMP 50s seem to really shine above, though...be neat to hook up all three at the same time, 1 real time with a slight slow rate flanger with a lot of depth, and, one dry mod with a slight ~ 50ms delay, and, the third dry on mod with a ~75ms... delay...I would LOVE to see such a display; playing something like la villa strangiato- Alex Lifeson...
Damn dude!! I'm gonna just call you Dr. Plexi! Thanks for taking the time to show everyone the subtle, but important differences in the different models. I am a Jtm 45 man, all the way, but have an opportunity to buy or trade (not my JTM, a guitar, or another amp)for a JTM 50 blockhead -Black Flag replica. Do you think I will be happy with it in your opinion, in the long term? Of course I'm gonna play it for awhile, we're even going to swap items so we can both try them at home on our setups. I won't however get to try it at a gig, and that's what worries me. The guy would let me trade back, I just don't want to be "That Guy". I will get to use in a rehearsal space, where I can crank it and get the feel, but they react differently in huge rooms, as you know I'm sure. Amazing vintage Marshall tones! What's the difference between the 2 Black Flag models? I'm guessing that maybe one has a tube rectifier and the other has a SS rectifier.
+Johan Segeborn you can really tell that Van Halen used a 12,000 series Plexi, the tone is just a little tighter, but not by much if you listen to isolated guitar tracks
Johan, I still visit this video often because of how damn good that 1968 salvation jmp lead 50 sounds..... To me that's about the best sounding 4 hole marshall I've ever heard...... Maybe the best amp period! What's the deal with that beauty? Never heard of salvation plexis before
Thanks for another awesome video...if you still have access to the white 1970 super lead would you be able to check the OT code and let me know which one they put in there...love the sound...nice and full sounding.
i would actually pay you 1 million dollars for pics of the internals close enough to see R&C values. That is if I had a million dollars it would be yours!
Black flag #2 sounds like my the black flag clone I am currently gigging in an old 60 cab with no tolex. Kinda has that sparkly hollw sound that sings if hit hard . Nice playing. Thanks Johan. If you ever travel to the gulf coast here in the US come sit in with my band and enjoy some great food. Peace and chicken grease

It's impossible to summarize 15 amps in a sentence or two. So of course that's exactly what I'm going to do! LOL. To my ears the JTMs compress more and the highs get rolled off when cranked. The JMPs seem to have more upper mid crunch. All sound glorious. Johan you must have cool neighbors.
Thankyou for this demo. Did your 1967 JTM50 Black Flag No 2 have the Solid State rectifier ? thank you for the right video demo at the right time. cheers
Love the red 68 JMP. Great sound. From childhood in the sixties I remember that color of red. Suit cases, record players, even leather car seats were often red. Do you think that is the original tolex on it? Really cool. Great playing too Johan.
My JMP50, bought new in 1970, delivers ‘that sound’ with zero effort, wonderfully sensitive to the my guitar volume. That, more than anything else, made Marshall. It was becoming the sound of popular music and it’s hard to say which was the chicken, which was the egg. Interestingly, mine came with an error ‘brite’ cap right from the factory. It was low by a factor of ten - .0022uF rather than .022uF - and the amp only came fully alive once I learned enough to change it. Channel one had always been utterly unusable by itself, my typical settings might be 1 for channel one, 6 for channel two to get a usable tone. But now the cap is swapped it’s channel one all the way. I feel lucky I had the smarts and the resources to never sell it. Today it looks like it just rolled off the factory floor and is very valuable. The 8x10 cabinet was sold very early.
I think for me the one that really stuck out of my mind the most it had more of a thicker smoother but more flavorful and robust (mid) mid-range was the 67 Black flag jtm 50; I like that when it was a little more unique in the mid-range was right where I like it.

Ever try a strat ? It would be cool to hear ! Always enjoy the riffing !
Thanks Tom! I usually end up using the Les Paul but I do have a couple of Strat clips too.
Would love to see a ledger of when, where, and how much you much you paid, or what you bartered for these heads!
Those black flag's sound fucking sick! Ive never heard of those before
+That smelly guy on the train yeah, sounds like it's gonna blow any second :-)
I think for me the one that really stuck out of my mind the most it had more of a thicker smoother but more flavorful and robust (mid) mid-range was the 67 Black flag jtm 50; I like that when it was a little more unique in the mid-range was right where I like it.

Johan do you collect all these? Do you own a store? I am curious because I don't know your back story. I would imagine if this is your collection, you probably collect other things as well right?
