About to do this on a 530i I bought to fix up. New Bosch 120A alternator and all. Removal was pretty easy.

I once had the alternator fail in a rental car on the South Island of New Zealand ,it was Saturday evening at 7PM ,in winter ,pouring rain and freezing cold and of course no heater...they always fail at the worst time...good video though..

If that was an Audi alternator you'd only need one size socket. However there would be 9 bolts.
