My father always taught me, that if you are loaned a tool, it should be returned in better condition than you got it. Borrowed a lawn mower once from a neighbor, replaced a blade that was chipped and dull on it and returned it with a full tank of gas. It's a matter of respect and common decency.
and still cheaper than buying one yourself, in adition you might be able to borrow again
I have always had a valve on the opposite end from where I'm picking up the diesel fuel from my tank at the lowest point that allowed me to pitch the tank slightly away from the pickup end and then always be able to drain off the water that accumulates in there from condensation in the tank and etc. I assume that's what the valve you removed was for, can't explain the chain though that must be a west coast thing Haha! Keep up the good work.
I was taught the same thing
Right on. I do that as well....cleaned up and full of gas. Even if it's rental equipment.
You said it! I might need to find you and let you borrow all my stuff!!!
As a professional homeowner I appreciate when another professional homeowner displays his loctite. It’s one of those things that gives me “the fizz”
So your unemployed?
When Cody climbed on top of the saw horses WITH the chain saw , my first thought was, This is video is getting good!
I was thinking the same thing and seeing the CAT in the background I was hoping he would use that as a platform to work on. Thankful that it worked out!
Definitely, a "why men live shorter lives moment".
At 7:50 i closed my eyes and pray that God have mercy and Codys guardian angel do overtime.
What could possibly go wrong?
My exact words were… that’s a very bad plan Cody! Then I read the comments. Seams I wasn’t alone! Glad it all worked out Cody. Love the vid anyway.
As a non professional homeowner I appreciate your professional homeowner insight and knowledge!

Best phrase ever. “We better fix that”. There is to much of the “oh well let’s buy a new one” mindset now days.
I worked at a company that made us throw out any corded power tool even if it had a nick in the cord. I was told "it has to be repaired by an authorized repairman and you arent an electrician so you arent authorized "
I started out this video being jealous that you had everything ready and handy to make that repair to the saw....I felt much better about myself when you ended with the struggle of the forks. thank you...
He is killing it and is a millionaire. I could have everything ready to rock and roll if had the money for all my projects. Guess i should have started you tubing long ago.

Living in the woods and doing lots of different jobs teaches me lessons everyday. Adjusting the forks, learning how was one of Cody's lessons today.
And, every task I do is regularly rethought; can I do it better, faster, more efficiently, etc. Thinks makes like interesting and often fun. My father was one of the real experts in his field. One of his lessons to me was that on a good day, you learned something. And, he tried to learn from even the mundane jobs.
Now, I am headed back out to work on my firewood stack for a few winters from now.
I really like your ingenuity; but I absolutely love your patience with the non-working tools. You would make Job proud! Keep up the great videos. Jay
Had the fork problem myself, got a set of “walk through” forks . Gives room for the door to open with forks up a little more, but looks like you figured it out. 👍
Cody, with the forks on. Lift them and tilt them forward all the way until the fork tines are vertical, then jump out with the forks raised (not recommended by non-professional homeowners) and spread them apart that way. Makes it a whole lot easier.
Got it
That is so slick I didn’t even think of that option. We normally try to squeeze ourselves out of the cab with arms to the ground and a tiny tip up on the forks with us muscling the dang things around.
Do the opposite. Tilt back towards you and you can still adjust the forks while opening the door
The Gordian knot is pretty funny. Did something kind of similar when I had to chage a pinion seal in a one ton van. The nut was on so tight that even with the e-brake and blocks on the wheels I would turn the wheel and I would turn the pinion and it wouldn't break loose but the tires would crawl over the blocks. Fortunately my brother called me and interrupted and when I told him the problem he laughed, "Duh, put a pipe wrench on the yoke and then take a crack at the nut." Sometimes the most simple escapes us.

Every time you do a new project or get a new toy, please know that I am living vicariously through you. You have taken all of the risk and we have watched. Subsequently, you have been blessed and rewarded. By the way, there's no question in my mind that if you dropped 30 Gs on a piece of equipment, you paid cash and that cash was disposable. @@wranglerstar That's a nice warm day over here with the East Coast Guys. All kidding aside, I love your vids and it's nice seeing that I can use a West Coast option as a last resort. I can't wait for you winter vids and where has the drone been.
When you put a new cable into equipment, try to clamp the outer rubber layer in the little clamping device, instead of the wires itself. So if you pull on the cable, you're not pulling on the wires. Just a lesson I had to learn myself a while ago.
But it didn't get that far this time.
Yep your right.
Ah man.. getting off a cold 12 hour work day, coming home and watching your videos.. nothin better.. keep it up man
12 hour work day, sounds like me, get some rest,
Those 12's are what seperate the boys from the men, good job bud.
I’m a buyer and just bought a 500 gallon diesel tank, used for $1100. I think you got a great deal!
That cord shorting reminded me of something similar that happened to me when I was about 10 years old. I learned to cook at a young age because I wanted to make pancakes on Saturday morning before my parents wanted to get out of bed. I used an electric fry pan that had a cord that detached from it. It had the temperature control on it. One time when I plugged it in, the cord shorted where it went into the temperature control, and this white flame shot out of the plastic box. It startled me, but I reached over and pulled the plug out of the wall. Right when I did, some plastic from the control box splattered, and a small bit almost went into my eye. By the grace of God, I blinked (because it made a noise when it splattered), and the little blob of molten plastic burned my upper and lower eyelids right on the edge, but my eye was untouched. Thank you, Jesus!
So Jesus saved your eye however he can’t save sick children’s lives.?
@@jamesemmanola Rob one day, regardless of what happened here on earth and to unfortunate people, you'll have to stand face to face with God. If you dont get right with with Christ and seek forgiveness, you will be dead in sins and stand condemned. Fortunately, Christ is not without mercy and extends His grace if you so desire it
@@jamesemmanola I thank Jesus for all good things that happen to me. Yeah, bad stuff happens, too, but that's because he gave us all free will. If you want to mad at him for that, go ahead. But then don't complain when someone wants to control your behavior. You can't have it both ways. Well, you can, but then you aren't being intellectually honest.
Really like this series!
If you unlatch the slide locks on the skid steer forks, it is possible to slide the back and forth by resting one fork on a block or stump (preferably something stationary) and turn the machine left to move the fork right, left to move it right. This is all done with the forks attached to the machine. It sounds complicated but it is fairly simple. Oh, and make sure the sliders are greased.
One thing I like about Cody and his channel, is his film quality and how it just keeps getting better and better! Literally makes you feel like you're with him in a shot when he's repairing stuff. Must have taken a lot of time to get those camera angles and everything. Awesome stuff!
What? No gas spill? Nice nozzle.
Couldn’t hide money if he tried lol. I’m just yanking your chain brother! Just an envious east coast guy lol. Keep it up, I’ve been watching the progression since I found you back in 2012 whilst deployed. I low key wish you were my dad.
Thats crazy man I was just low key thinking the same. Doesn't get much better
I cant wait for colder weather. Ive got a lot of projects that would be made much easier with it not being 90 degrees every day.

@@Torthak You are a tool. You must love to jump around with the conclusions you reach.
@@Torthak I never had any good experience from lending out my tools. At best you blame your firends when they fail years later, at worst you get in a fight right away because the damage is obvious and they deny it cause if they could replace em easily, they might not have borrowed them but bought their own. I quit lending tools a long time ago, if they really need something done i go there and do it myself for a small fee or some beer, works way better and everyones happy ;)
Man your fleet of machines is very impressive! I have a fleet too, I just keep it at the rental yard. :)

Hey Cody, love the subtle/not subtle placement of your special tool on the tool rack and the folding stock adapter. 👍
That old Skilsaw had paper insulation wiring inside the case. Probably needs rewired from the inside also.
Just like the Gordian knot you just need to cut off the top of the pallet forks back rest... :)
Went to the Paul Bunyan show last weekend in Ohio. Supposed to be a huge event. NEVER saw anything as COOL as Wranglerstar climbing up his saw horses to get the job done! Keep on keepin on sir!

Been taking Mr. Cody's "Be a professional homeowner" mentality to heart whenever Im in class, learning electrical wiring
Cody, for long term diesel storage have you considered any additives or stabilizers? I know there's a lot on the market so maybe you've already done the research.
p.s. someone told me you can use water to separate out the ethanol from high test gas using a translucent lemon aid dispenser? any tips on that would be mighty appreciated.
God bless.

My company makes composite railroad ties. They work great for sleepers/cribbing. We can make pretty much any size.
I love the C700’s. I just bought a set this past spring and have gotten a ton of use out of them. The fact they are so compact when folded and so solid set up, perfect for so many things.
This video is east coast man approved👍
New Hampshire loves your work Brother Cody!
Thank you Issac,
@@wranglerstar You are very welcome.
Cody, you should incline your diesel tank slightly so water and sludge drops to the rear drain plug. Set the tank away from the wall enough to allow access to that drain so you can occasionally empty and purge the nasty stuff out of your fuel storage.
That is one classy bench vise!
Re: moving forks...you could always drive the tracks up on a 4x4 or 6x6 to raise the front end of the machine.
When the forks are low tilt them back and you can adjust while still getting out
First I got a great laugh out of the saw size upgrade when you brought it out intentional or not. Then as I watched what really got me was when I noticed you weren't rock'n the Dancos.
Put some flat face couplers onto the tractor as well so you can use the attachments on there as well or make up some adapters. Great work
I love the cameo of the um cordless hole punch above the bench.
I wound up with two sets of forks for that exact reason. One set from an earlier machine was too tall of a backstop and I couldn't use it basically. The other set was super beefy and had a large round bar the forks were mounted to and the backstop was short and easy to get in and out. Those were always what i picked.
I've stopped expecting people to return stuff in working condition or even returning the stuff at all.
For your implements get an adapter instead of getting all new attatchers
About the Gordian knot...I was removing a bolt out the bottom of my car with an impact gun when I got it stuck between the ground and the car. Simple, I thought, just spin the bolt back in! Except....the bolt was stripped and wouldn't thread back in. My jack....was maxed out and couldn't go any higher. So, I had to dig into my driveway to wedge the impact out. First time EVER I was glad I had a gravel driveway!
The worst,
Mt. Fuji is beautiful this time of year.
Blessings from North Ontario .
Thank you for sharing your learning moments. We can all learn from them.
Sorry, I have been away for awhile, love your channel and really love your shop!
I'm starting to see why the door was missing when you found it.
Just tilt the forks up, then adjust them.
The trouble of the cat skid steers the doors really screw your sometimes with different attachments, but cat skid steers are awesome.
I enjoy every video but I truly and thoroughly enjoyed this one. Excellent work, keep it up, and God bless.
Thank you very much!
Excellent video. I’ve recently come across a lot of construction/machinery videos with millions of views that are horribly edited and consist of a majority of filler and fluff. It bothers the heck out of me, I hate having my time wasted. I don’t know who hits the like button on those videos but it ain’t me. This channel’s production quality is as good as I’ve seen. To the point and I feel like you are conscious and grateful of your viewers time and the end product shows. Thank you.
Thank you, I greatly value my subscribers time and try hard not to waste it,
Curl the attachment back before you get out makes life alot easier.
can never get enough of your videos cody! much love from my family to yours! god bless!
Not sure if it would help or not but they make pallet forks with a cutout to walk through for skid steers could be a plausible option
I am so glad you have a track loader now. Just.. honestly, gives me the fizz.
did you add that grounding chain back to your above ground fuel storage tank?
OOhhhh, okay
I miss these kinds of videos.

But the old tool video and bench builds❤️
I always raise the forks high and tip them straight down to slide them, less weight on forks so slide easier, but i dont have front door on skidloader
I wish someone would invent a new cord stress point system ... and better switches .... went out to make one small cut on the table saw today and it started, groaned, then died ... then couldn't find any of my 3 electrical sniffers to test the line to motor ... lucking the switch went out 2 years ago and I bought 2 replacements (they're cheap) ... popped the other new one in and was back in business, then went in and ordered another one .... Cody I have found the 3M stretchy self sticking tape to work well on temp shoring up of cords (if you do it before the wire gets too stressed) love that 3M stuff ... right up there with lock tight ... BTW, love the Paint job on the tank ... it should help make fueling easier and no humping cans of diesel
29 degrees there, and my AC kicked on here in Nashville this morning.
My grandfather had his own below ground gas reserves in his shop. When I was little I thought that was the coolest thing. Today I still feel impressed.
Perhaps the best watch ever made on the wrist, very nice!
The fork thing…that’s what the laborers are for. But I think driving the idlers up on a couple small chunks of wood would get you a few more inches if you are on uneven or soft ground.
That's one good thing about the kubotas, you can open the door at any position
An easy way to move forks: find or place a 2x4 or 4x4 on the ground. Place elbow of fork on it till it lifts up from the channel. Side shift or turn slightly till fork is where you want it. Lift and go!
Glad to see you have your other tool on your belt
The editing that must go into such great shots and cuts doesn't go unnoticed.
Thank you,
Diesel. Very detrimental to asphalt! Gasoline will (for the most part) evaporate and not be as damaging. Little drips of diesel over time will eat away at the asphalt.
I love this! I need to get one for my house! love your channel!!
Paint job on the gas container came out nice! Way to demonstrate patience with all the set backs! Do you like the smaller bench and vise system for working on projects or the older metal bench and larger vise…?
It depends, I like the maple bench for most projects because its warmer and wont mar whatever I'm working on. The metal bench is needed for fabrication and heavy work,
I guess that’s one reason to consider the JCB skid steer, you can get out the side.
Old rail road locks had a bail on them for the chain to prevent loss. I wonder if that was the purpose for the chain on your drain valve for a lock to prevent "unauthorized" use.
Even an east coast guy can figure out how to move the forks on a skid steer without scratching his head 😀
Yes we can,but it may take a few cups of coffee and some brainstorming first till we get it figured out and by then its break time.
I can confirm this.
...and a union meeting.
Whoa, whoa, why all the hurry? Let's form committee to oversee and approve a budget to to form a special group to evaluate these plans. Hopefully it will get done by next summer.
@WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot My most sincere apologies sir, I was carried away by the glamour of it all.
I too have a track loader. I think the most frustrating part is how I need 2 ppl once in a while because I cannot get out of the cab. Luckily my wife loves to operate it.
Great Video . I wish you took us along with the tank restoration process ! But awesome saw skills !
Fantastic finish
Man that is a beautiful pen hanging up behind the Wilton Bullet vise!!
Yes it is, Don, thank you, I really really like it, thank you.
Cody,
If you tilt the forks all the way back with the loader arms down you can adjust the width of the forks no problem.

We always picked the best edge of the beam and measured off it on two sides (never 3 or 4) at both ends, then snapped an ink line down the length on those sides as 'datum'. Beams are never square. English Oak frame joinery.
The title of the video should go on a T-shirt
make a spot somewhere that you can put a wedge on the ground so all you have to do is drive forward to spread the forks to the extremities
That cockpit view from thecat looks like it should be looking out over the death star. "stay on target" use the fizz Cody😅
Wow 29 deg. It’s going to be a very cold winter!!!
Lift the forks up above the door and tilt down. Make sure your pins are locked in.
