    "our yamaha snare and shell 'recipe' makes for maximum resonance. The wood and construction give full round, mushy, warm tone, that increase the tuning range. From high highs, to low lows, they will be bright, crisp, dark, woody, earthy, rich, crusty, blubby, sweet, vibrant, bell like with a fast attack for every dynamic range that will.....(Wait for it....)
    cut through the mix(my favorite meaningless bullshlt sentence in all of gear terms)wether in a band, live, in the studio, or in your moms basement."

    As a drum builder I want to say that people underestimate the importance of the hoops in the sound

    Amazing how close they are. I' have played a Recording Custom back to back with a Stage Custom and I do hear a difference but to an audience or in a recording situation I doubt anyone could tell

    Love the vids😘😘For the price, playing live in a noisy club, no one would tell the difference. Between a guitarist dragging his fingers across the strings and the vocalist and his pretty hair taking all the attention no one will notice the difference. In a more refined setting, maybe. To me the hybrid had a fuller sound, but who really knows after RUclips squishes that sound

    Right at 8:05 got to love that almost Phil Collins gated sound. Dude, you're getting really good at this (And no you don't suck !)

    In the A/B, the SC had more body. That’s wild.

    The quality of your videos is getting pretty good! I’m surprised you don’t have a lot more subscribers… You will, though!

    Curious what you think about the attack drum heads

  • @Lumerdrums
    @Lumerdrums 6 месяцев назад

    I guessed right but only because of the hoops I guess. There is a difference in attack, a die cast hoop makes. besides that, the cheaper one sounds amazing for the money :) I did a shoot out back then in the studio, when I got my ludwig black magic, against a black beauty. same head, same hoops. you could not tell a difference. pretty wild when you look at a 1k price difference. sure, there is a quality difference with the throw off and the lugs and so on, but soundwise I would pick the cheap alternative again as a working horse.

    I do not like the sound of neither.. Funny thing is they sound pretty damn close to my Oak Customs, which I always found as the weak point of the kit. Maybe it's the ambassador head sound? Or the Yamaha style of snare sound?

    I can tell the difference but honestly I don’t like either one, I’m a brass guy! I’ve never met a wood snare that I fell in love with. I just think brass and other metals like aluminum and copper are the absolute best material for a snare drum.

    FYI the snare resonant head has a massive impact on the sound and feel of the drum. Nice comparison

      @fartpooboxohyeah8611 experiment with 2, 3 and 5 mil snare side heads and then tell me they don’t make a difference. They absolutely do…

    • @willymccabe6602
      @willymccabe6602 6 месяцев назад

      No. It doesn't. Unless you're going to do something like try to use a Pinstripe as a snare reso, you're never going to be able to tell the difference between an Evans or a Remo (or any other) snare side head at the same tuning and same wire tension. That's exactly why drum companies offer hundreds of different kinds of snare batter heads but only a handful of snare reso styles.

      @liamdempsey7072 6 месяцев назад

      @@willymccabe6602 while the reso is limited 2-5mil clear heads for functionality purposes, there is utility is experimentation. It all has to do with how it affects the tone and response of the wires, not so much the fundamental note. The thinner heads offer more response and the thicker heads less.
