I love your teaching style!! Laura, I have used that phone pillow tutorial dozens of times to give away as gifts and have many in my home. I love the clear instructions. I’ll be making fabric boxes!! You are so valuable to us and we love you!! 🥰
Hi Laura I just love watching all your videos. You are so precise with all of your directions. Without a bunch of chitty chat chat, or the annoying music in the background while I'm trying to listen to you. And you don't ask me to buy your patterns, promote your business by following you on all of the social medias, then telling me to subscribe share on and on and on. It is so refreshing, and inspiring to watch your videos.
I always love your videos and have used many of your patterns, especially your scrub cap. I recently made 72 scrub caps, as a donation for staff at a nursing facility. It was my way of giving back during these Covid times. The added pleasure I didn’t expect, was how excited it made the residents seeing the staff with the happy prints every day. I wanted to tell you how beautiful your new hairstyle is! You look 10 years younger! Absolutely stunning!
Miss Laura, yet again…. I’ve started making fabric boxes and have looked a few… should have known you’d have posted one… wow, never to told to learn something, and learn I did with the ruler snuggling the fabric under the batting to the seam…. WOW, I will be using that method for so many things I do, especially my bags… You are always teaching me/us something we just didn’t know how it makes things so much easier…. As always, thank you for EVERYTHING you do for us…. Sew Forward, Jon
Hi Laura. Is there a ‘formula’ I can use if I want to make a box with specific dimensions? I love the simplicity of this, compared with some other box patterns. Thank you so much.
Dearest Laura just want to thank you! I feel I can make all things as long as I watch my utube. you have blessed me over and over!!! Thank you for your teachings, and the way you do it! Hugs!
❤❤❤I should have known to come here first! You always have such great tutorials, explained in a very simple and methodical way! I love that you have included a way to make it any height and any square size!! I was wanting a shallower wider box and you have provided the perfect information. Thank you Laura for everything you do for us. I know this is an older video and you may not see my comment, but I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you. ❤❤❤
Thanks Laura, your method is first class, 🥇and made it easy for a beginner to sewing like myself. I made a large fabric box - 11" x 11" to store fabric in. It is wonderful and I love the pattern formed by having 4 rows of complementary fabric for the outer. I plan to make about 6 or 8 in various sizes, so that my sewing area can be more organised
I just wanted to thank you for sharing your Box making. I love the box and thank you for the Awesome Demonstration. I'm going to be making some of these gorgeous boxes. Happy Sewing hope you have a lovely Day.💞💞
I made one of these and left it on my cutting table. It's now a catch all for my rotary cutters, measuring tape and other little what nots. I just move it around where I want it. I'm making smaller ones for my clips so they don't get knocked off when I'm working at the sewing machine. They're very useful and fun to make. Great for using up scrap materials.
I love your tutorials. You are so precise in your teaching. I made the pillow cover and it really was “sew very easy”. I usually have to pause and replay tutorials, but not with your’s. Thank you, Laura.
Thank you for easy-to-follow tutorial. Your answers to the sizing issues - given below - were also very helpful. I mean to make lots in different sizes!
SewVeryEasy Really pleased with my first fabric box - make-up box for my daughter. She opened out the inside points and put her lipsticks in each one! Thank you, again, for great tutorial.
Brilliant tutorial with lots of great thrifty tips. Once I got my head around the length of the 45 degree seam being the height of the box I was off and running. I am off to make another box to nest inside the first and use up some fabric scraps. Thankyou so much.
Hello! I've only been sewing for a couple of years, but thought I'd have a go at this little box. I had some denim left over from a dress, so as it was pretty stiff already, I used some interfacing instead of the batting(?), but still quilted the top. It's turned out beautifully. Thank you and I'll be making some more! I'm in Norfolk (UK)
Just finished the bag for my sewing machine,I thought I'd share with you. Your instructions were easy to follow ( yes I cut out my cardboard templates). I am not an experienced machinist, so although not perfect, I'm very pleased with it. Thank you for sharing your tutorial. Betty Elliot, Glasgow, U.K.
These are so cute, and easy to make. I am going to make one today. I am reorganizing my sewing room and these will help. Thanks for the clear and concise lesson!
I have seen these done in other videos, but your instructions are the best! I always enjoy your videos, as you are a very good teacher. Thank You for sharing Your Time, and Talent with all of us.
Once again thank you so much. I made one last night and am working on making three more. I'm using them for knitting project baskets. Real fast, easy and fun! I always look forward to your tutorials. You're a very good teacher! Jan
Laura, I have been scouring the web for fabric box instructions. No surprise to anyone familiar w/your tutes, I’m sure: Your approach and explanation are superior to all the others I have found. Absolutely elegant Genius :). Thank you!
What a great idea , have you ever bought gift boxes these days these can be used for gifts as well as part of the gift and done as a gift basket in clear wrapping with bows to match , I can hardly wait as we have a lot of birthdays coming up very soon ,love these boxes thank you they are quick easy and beautiful.
When ever you finish a project, square up what you have leftover, make a box: and keep it handy! You will never know when that will come in handy! I have many times done just as you said...Boy! it really makes that gift just a little more special. Glad you like them.
Thank you for this video. I just made one and it was very simple! Instead of measuring and marking for the corners, I cut a 2" half square triangle from a scrap and used it for a guide. I LOVE your method of trimming the batting!
Oh gosh tricky fold for the bottom, that is a new one on me, how fun! Easy, and so fast; thank you so much! What a great way to trim seams I honestly will use this one, now for batting and such. You always have such great ideas.
You made this look SO easy, I think I can do it. I've been looking at some sites and how they make something like this but it seems so complicated. I never thought about the tips you gave either - makes so much sense. Thank you for the information!
My next foot needs to be the non-stick foot for my Bernina so I can make one of these in vinyl. Great to toss thread tails in and easily empty. Thank you for all you share, your tutorials are amazing!
Thank you - this was excellent! My husband is looking for a box to keep some leads in and is using an old cardboard one - now I can make him something a lot smarter!
thanks for the tutorial, great for my husband's glasses, another for snowblower key! Your presentation is easy and enjoyable to follow along. Cheers from Canada
Hi, Laura! Nice to meet you! I watch a lot of sewing tutorial videos and have chosen this video as my guide to making fabric boxes. I am honored to sit with your video guiding me through this much needed process. I am sure that I will not stop at one. Your video feels like a great project for me as a beginner to fill my idle (thinking) time , or worry moments, between fixin' to do a more complicated gift project. I am going to make a few of these for my sewing table. Just for fun (or maybe outta necessity/stash contents) I will most certainly tweak the exactness of your creative example. My hat is off to you for your inspiring video that puts me into action.
Dear Laura! You have wonderful videos. I tried to do this baske, but I had problems of forming the basket. But I learnt a lot, and I hope I will be able to use the quilted material for something else.
I"ve been wanting to make your little boxes for a very long time. Today was the day. I followed your instructions and I succeeded. Thank you so much. I will share your video.
these are great little boxes.... I used a little bit of fabric glue to hold the points inside in place and I also top stitched around the top edge of the box
Questions: Would soft and stable work on these fabric boxes? And can you choose to cut off the inside corners and maybe zig zag stitch them? Just learning to make fabric baskets...
I see this video was made a number of years ago, I’m glad it’s still posted because I found it very helpful. Thank you, Laura! I’m glad you made it to accommodate any size. I sewed one up this evening and it actually turned out , which I’m grateful for , because I usually hit a snag when I’m trying to take instructions online, and tonight I didn’t! I’m not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but have a great desire t sew. Thank you again!
Thank you for this idea. I love it but I'd love it even more if you'd show us how to sew the tops for the boxes. Wow, never mind. I just saw another one of your videos of fabric boxes with tops . Love it 👌
Oh, what fun! Your teaching style is very precise and easy to follow. Thank you for sharing this project with us out here in WebLand! I am headed to my machine to make a box or two... pj stitches! is sw Missouri
Great idea thank you. I have made three now using new Zealand prints( mainly stylised native birds-Tui and Pukeko).Have plans for more..all as Christmas presents. They would be good as bedside boxes to put hand cream, lip balm etc in.
I am in awe of the neutral colored quilt behind you in the video. Do you have a tutorial for that one or is it a client/personal piece? It's stunning! I see so many frilly colored quilts and it's so great to see something in earth tones.
Love the tip for cutting the batting close to the seam using the ruler. Now on to the rest of your video. That tip alone was worth watching.
I love your teaching style!! Laura, I have used that phone pillow tutorial dozens of times to give away as gifts and have many in my home. I love the clear instructions. I’ll be making fabric boxes!! You are so valuable to us and we love you!! 🥰

Love no chitty chat and straight to the point for my OCD and HDD personality lol 😂
I loved how you used the ruler to hold back the material to cut the batting. Thanks, just what I needed!
Thank you sweetheart for this. The round ones require to much math. God bless you and stay safe during these frightening times. Hugs from the south.

You're such a clever lady Laura...love the tip of holding the seam allowance back with the ruler.
thanks
This was the clearest tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing. Now I’m going to go make a few. 😊
I love your boxes! Nothing to buy to complete this fun project...Just leftover fabric and batting! Thank you, Laura, for sharing this delightful box!
Hi Laura. Is there a ‘formula’ I can use if I want to make a box with specific dimensions? I love the simplicity of this, compared with some other box patterns. Thank you so much.

What do you recommend when you need the box to be a specific size? How do you determine the size for the starting square?
Thank you, will try this in the coming week.
Questions: Would soft and stable work on these fabric boxes? And can you choose to cut off the inside corners and maybe zig zag stitch them? Just learning to make fabric baskets...
Yes for both. The soft and stable would be a more firm box too:)
Thank you for your tutorial on these boxes. Great gifts for any occasion. Love it!
