Myself, my family, and my inlaws all save bags each year, and each Christmas we try to remember how many times each bag has been used, I think these would be sure to impress and be cherished and reused for many many years. I think using tulle as tissue paper may put this right over the edge 😊
Your time and effort is a gift of caring. No one makes a video like yours unless they have a loving ♥️ heart. Thanks to the kindness you possess. Great job!
Been wanting to make a little bag for my bible and notebook to make it easier to carry them into church. I'm so trying this! I've saved tons of gift bags over the years, I'm bound to have the perfect sized one in there somewhere lol.
OMG!!!! This will definitely be the new way I bag gifts to family and friends, and a way to get rid of my remnant fabrics!!!!! Thanks again!!! Love all of your tutorials!!!! I'm a fan!!!!! Thanks Laura!!!!
Christmas bag's I see Christmas bag's and the Christmas fabrics are coming out, I know what I'm going to be doing this weekend thank you once again for an amazing idea.
loved it. I tend to reuse my paper gift bags to store in fabric piece or just plain store toilletries, and some have a short lifespan this is a great idea to replace all my old patched up paper bags. Thanks
My daughter has so many of these Sephora bags. Now I can reinvent them into beautiful bags that match my decor. How useful to organize and store lotions in the bathroom, makeup brushes, powders, headbands & scrunchies and so much more. Laura, again, thank you for such a useful and beautiful idea. Who wouldn't love to get a gift in a bag like that. So many uses for every room in the house :D
Thank you! I love this! I've made some simple bags just for the family to use in place of wrapping paper, but I only use them at home because they're just not the classy look I want for gifts. That fabric is going to be re-purposed to make class bags--even for my family!
Just made my new wonderful fabric gift bag! It was very easy to follow your instructions. I used some batting and used wonder under to make it fusible. Can't wait to make more. I will definitely be making these for gift giving this year!😀 Thank you again!
Another FABULOUS and INGENIOUS idea, Laura! LOVE your videos, each and every one! Have you ever tried using tulle instead of tissue paper? It comes in so many fun and complementary colors, and I think with a little experimenting, one or a few pieces could be cut and arranged just so and look very cute in the bags. I've been making fabric Christmas bags for about eight years for my family. After making yet another batch of plain rectangular bags this past Christmas, I have decided it's time to kick it up a notch, so I went traipsing around Google, searching for ideas. I was so happy to see your smiling face in the Google hits. I knew I had a winner before I even watched it, and of course, no surprise, you did not disappoint! Thank you for another great tutorial. Keep making your wonderful videos, Laura. I will never get tired of watching them! :)
"Sew Very Clever" :) i used the annie foam for the first bag. So easy and fun. Your instructions are spot on. I used a firm stabilizer for the second bag and liked how it felt like a paper gift bag. Thanks so much for this awesome video!
WHAT?!!! That is the easiest gift bag ever! thanks for sharing the Soft & Stable foam tip, it's a great product! Love the gift bags and I cant wait to start making them!
Mine MineMine Fun Fun Fun!!! Glad you like the bags as much as I do, The Soft and Stable makes the bags really look like gift bags. Thanks for watching
I'm so glad I found your channel! These bags are wonderful, and I will be making some for sure! Thank you so much for the tutorial. Your instructions are very easy to understand!
I would love to see you do a video on fabric(or lace, or delicate see through ?) to use inside your beautiful fabric bags instead of paper tissue. I love your creativity and ideas.
Thank you for the awesome video instructions. I'm a beginner had a little problem but fixed it at the end. Thank you again for the bag making. It was fun. God bless you.
Awesome. Thank you for this craft idea. In July one of my four sisters unexpectedly passed away. The remaining four of us are at a loss, because the five Jones girls are now 4. (But she I'll be in our hearts ). Us girls always had a private gift party, oh the joy of that time. Sorry for the rambling on. I am going to do this craft idea, plus find a gift to put inside. Again, Thank you.
Just preparing to make your lovely jewellery roll, but couldn't resist having a look at this. The gift bags are really lovely and they look so easy to make! Thank you! I can already see that I'm going to be hooked on your channel. I can't wait for the new video you promised!
Can't believe a free bag pattern has been in front of me all this time lol thanks for the fab video I love things short and sweet you don't get bogged down with too much information that way!!!😉x
I want to make one of these bags right now, I love them. I don't have the foam so I will experiment with some other stabilizers and hope one of them work. I will definitely be making these bags for my gifts that I mail out of state for my family. Thank you so much. Any suggestions for any other material that might work other then foam. Great channel!
+sandofthesun You could use a quilt batting or a fusible fleece. I would go with the fusible fleece it would be easy to work with and it would hold it shape better. Thanks and thanks for watching
+SewVeryEasy thank you much for replying. I have been going through your videos and there is so much I want to try. Your a great teacher. Thank you again
hi! just found you.... I LOVE your videos! :) I've been sewing all my life, but you make new ideas so fun and easy! I have wanted to make re-usable Christmas gift bags for years.... but never have. Yet. Next project.... !
So beautiful! Thank you for sharing! I'm a huge fan of 'smaller' projects, especially when the time you can spend sewing comes in small doses. Can't wait to try one. Wondering if I can use a 'regular' medium weight interfacing instead of the foam? Or is it your experience that it just doesn't work as well?
Sherry Matkin GREAT! I'm glad you are having fun. Go to my fb facebook.com/sewveryeasy and post pictures, I would love to see them. thanks for watching
+Evelyn J. Amponsah You would not be able to wash the bag after. But if that is OK with you go for it:) it is the only the way to know if you like it or not:)
I have made two of these. DO NOT RELY TOTALLY ON THE BAG FOR YOUR PATTERN. Neither bag I used was "square". I had to measure to get the right dimensions. That said, it is a great idea. I refused to pay $13 for that Soft and Stabilizer stuff PER BAG and used pellon instead which was $6 for two bags. It worked fine.
Hi Laura, can you demonstrate how to figure dimensions without a template? I have a cheat sheet with the formula, but I think it would be wonderful for our new gift and tote bag sewers to have a place to start. Thanks!
I LOVE these bags & also the T.T. Marigold fabric, your tutorial is brilliant, thanks for your time, best teacher ever. BTW The Chapstick is at the ready :0)

Brilliant! I was wondering if you used a specialty foot (and if so which foot) to sew close to but not on the foam. A regular foot would be sitting on 2 levels would it not?
Oh my word Laura, first time watching you and I see you have a Singer sewing machine in the background if I'm not mistaken. I have the same one and I absolutely love it nothing better than the old cast-iron Singer sewing machines. PS I also subscribed
thank you Laura I am so happy I found you. I am new to sewing and you have made everything so easy to follow. PLEASE keep showing me how to make sewing easy and a pleasure. Carolyn U.K.
I have a lot.of stablizer type stuff left overs...now i want this stuff....dang it...maybe I will make something using the old.fashioned stuff first...any ideas tips on this
Was a lovely video hard to follow and see where to stitch and stuff, camera was little far away to see anything, but lovely. You do wonderful work. You should sale some of your work I would buy the white, black n pink purse you did with the metal stable things inside. Oh my that one was lovely.
Myself, my family, and my inlaws all save bags each year, and each Christmas we try to remember how many times each bag has been used, I think these would be sure to impress and be cherished and reused for many many years. I think using tulle as tissue paper may put this right over the edge 😊
Tulle would be beautiful!!

That's really cute. Especially for fragile gifts. I think I'd use some stiff interfacing instead for less fragile gifts. :)

The foam just makes it stand up better, but you could use a stiffer interfacing:) thanks for asking
Your bags are adorable!
Once again, thank you. Will be nice to personalize gift bags!
Cathie Jenner I think personalize with a name would be great too, oh happy sewing!
You could also use grommets for the handles and put them on after you are done.
