D1015's FIRST Visit To The East Somerset Railway - THE WESTBURY WIZZO 06/07/24

Plenty of action on the East Somerset Raikway as D1015 arrives into Cranmore hauling The Westbury Wizzo. Hosted by UK railtours, and starting at East Midlands Parkway in Leicestershire, the tour would offer high mileage with the Western working solo to Westbury. The loco that joined the tour at Westbury would be in the form of GBRf 66309. The 'shed' would trail to Cranmore before taking part in a spot of shunting. The Western would then take on fuel, in preparation for its tour back to Leicestershire. Whilst home fleet GWR Large Prairie 4110 would work to Mendip Vale offering a trip of the full line free of charge. Whilst the steam was away further up the line, the railtour gained its formation for the return journey. Running a mere 3 minutes late on departure, this was a real test for the operational aspect at Cranmore, with relatively small siding space. It's good to see the branch to Merehead once again utilised by a revenue earning railtour, after five years absence. Thanks for watching.

Interesting to see the somewhat convoluted moves at Cranmore to change ends, and good to note that the link to the Westbury Line via Merehead Junction is evidently possible.
