    That hideous chair could go two ways - you’d have to find the right fabric but it could be made to look like a seashell or you could go mad and use bright red leather or a British racing green coloured leather to reupholster

    Aw, I collect, "Made in Occupied Japan," Children's play set dishes - Contemporary. My grandmas started me on those. 101 yr old Auntie, firstborn of 8 & mom, baby of the bunch, had me learning about costume jewelry, buying it. Just lost both. Funniest thing, mom wanted Swarovski and Tourmaline, so spent 4 years trying to find what she wants. Then, she got sick. But those Swarovski beads, discontinued and Tourmaline went right through the roof!! So, mom helped me, in a strange way.

      @@TheAntiqueNomad Yes, she did! It began when we robbed of our favorite gems and jewelry, while I was a Sophomore in HS. She soon married my stepdad, he heard what happened, one emotional Friday. That weekend, he surprised us with a 6" faceting machine, along with semiprecious rough! We three, learned to use it, together, while my siblings did other things. We didn't replace, we created new jewelry, some with ostentatiously huge stones! We also took on the challenge of cabbing Star Rubies and Sapphires! My fave: Faceting grandma's fire opal! Took the 3 of us, taking turns working it fast and furious, stopping before it got hot! Gorgeous 😍

    We have refurbished a China cabinet and put in our master bathroom for towels and toiletries. Looks really pretty! I have a mid century cabinet I keep my Scooby Doo collection in. The back is papered with 1960’s “groovy” wallpaper. Thinking of finding some Scooby Doo paper instead. I have seen the top portions of cabinets incorporated in with existing kitchen cabinetry. Some put sinks in old dressers. Looks great! There are all kinds of things to do! Put a China cabinet in the bedroom for sweaters! I have a hutch in my closet for our underwear and socks. Works out wonderfully! Just get creative!

    Hi George. That chair would be tamed 🤣 some by placing it in a room with solid colors. With a vintage throw laid across. A nice comfy chair for a bedroom corner to sit and put your sock n shoes on. With some rich wood bedroom furniture. BUT The chest of drawers with the log cabin etched between the 2 drawers? If you push slightly on it does it pop opened for a "hidden cubby" or reach under it and slide a drawer? It seems odd for that to be just a wasted decorative space between the 2 drawers. Hmm Nice Store. Glad you stopped for gas. Safe Travels 🌹

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  Год назад +1

      I think that's a really good and thoughtful way to style that chair, it could be a fun pop of color if it was the only pattern in the room! I would have thought that panel would reveal a drawer but I guess it was just decoration

    Good evening, George! I have an "Iris and Herringbone" water set, but mine is in marigold. The clear ones are older but don't seem to price as much as the marigold. OMG!!! Don't say the blue geese are coming back 🤣 I hated those things when they were..."popular"😐😂 Those vase/lamp conversions make me sad. I liked the green Czech decanter set better than the purple 😉😆 I like the Napco head vases best of any of them. There were some interesting ones there, though. I was not a blue geese fan either, but you know someone's grandma had it and loved it, so it will come back...the green was in better condition, so I bought it...I'd also love to have a Marilyn and Jackie Kennedy head vase, but I never have found any I could afford! @@TheAntiqueNomad Well, I guess, if it does come back, I could use the blue geese things in the garage...to store nails and screws 😏😆🤣 Yeah, the MM and Jackie Kennedy head vases can be eyewatering in price. I've seen some of them priced well over the $1000.00 mark. That was some time ago, though, and I have no idea what they price now. If you've noticed, I usually comment only on items that interest me. The MCM stuff really doesn't catch my attention too much, (and I just really don't like kitsch), but there are a few pieces with designs that interest me. I'm happy you bought the green set!

      @TheAntiqueNomad  Год назад

      That's a great problem to have, but you sure get a shock when you come in and everything that was on the bookcase is now on the floor! It's hard to strike a balance between needing to sell enough stock to cover rent and make something, while merchandising in a way that features the best items and makes people visualize having it in their homes! A good merchandiser would do what I do and then edit by taking a box or two out...but as much as I travel, I just have to let it be stuffed so there's enough left as things sell between my visits.
