    POM plates are just the best for all around sound. Where other plate materials are best with a certain switch, all switches sound great on POM IMO

    • @abyss_mk
      @abyss_mk  3 года назад +3

      Yeah I agree, POM is pretty hard to beat! I found that FR4 is great with loud tactiles like holy panda or moyu black especially with PBT keycaps

      @bren.r 3 года назад

      @@abyss_mk I can confirm this 100%. I did a build with FR4, holy pandas, and PBT keycaps and trust me it clacks.

      Where do you get the Pom plate for Vega 65?

    Snaps and Pops. I like the sound. The alpacas kinda sound snappy, and the space bar just pops.

    Propably the best mod you can do. A POM sheet is dirt cheap and if you have a hackerspace with a cnc near by, youre good to go. And it sound soo much better

    Sounds great!!! How much did this end up costing with shipping and all if you don't mind me asking? I want to build a board like this but I just want to know how much the end cost was especially with shipping.

    • @abyss_mk
      @abyss_mk  3 года назад +1

      In stock vega was $359 and shipping for me was $60. For this exact build with switches, aftermarket pom plate, springs, lube, film, and keycaps I'd estimate around $600 including shipping for all of it.
      If you are just getting into the hobby you probably want to get some brushes, switch opener, and probably a cheap jewelers tool so you don't hate yourself when lubing so add $30-40 there.

    Amazing sound test...i have the exactly same config but sounds so different, mine is kinda mushy...may i know do you use standoffs?

    • @abyss_mk
      @abyss_mk  2 года назад +1

      No standoffs. It’s hard to say why your setup sounds mushy since there’s so many factors that go into sound. If you have gotten some lube on the bottom housing where the switch and stem meet, you can try wiping that part to see if it makes a difference.

    What is the best switch? Husky switch lubed 205g0 deskeys films or Alpaca V2 lubed 205g0 deskeys films

    did you have any issues with the pom plate and hotswap pcb? did the plate and switches stay in place with no problem?

    • @abyss_mk
      @abyss_mk  3 года назад

      It's a bit loose only when removing keycaps just like the stock pc plate. Plate foam helps. Better to have it slightly loose than too tight on the switches imo for hotswap. I ended up building the soldered pcb with the pom plate (no plate foam) and have no issues so far!

    1 to 10. how you rate those keycaps?

    • @abyss_mk
      @abyss_mk  3 года назад

      Based on my experience with Chinese keycaps from aliexpress 8/10. Could be much worse. Check out the review I posted on the drop page for more details. But also keep in mind this is drop you're dealing with. Don't trust the time estimate if it doesn't say in stock you might need to wait months.
