I live in the UK. I only started to take a serious interest in China after the US election in 2016. The rhetoric and ensuing trade war and the targeting of Huawei made me want to find why the strongest nation on earth felt so threatened by the rising economic power of another. So began a fascinating journey. There are still way more gaps than knowledge but the more I understand about how China works, how it organises itself and, perhaps most importantly, the outcomes it achieves for itself the more impressive it is. Of course the infrastructure projects are breathtaking, the energy and technical innovation breathtaking but what this film reminds me is that the heart of socialism in China is people. Kudos to all those officials who have trekked up mountain paths and slowly built the trust of isolated communities and ignited the spark of hope. Hope of course is not enough but new houses etc etc are nothing without it. It is at once humbling and inspiring.
Those officials who trekked up mountain paths are the sandwiched class. They have to deliver the targets set by the center and achieve results for the very poor ( other part of the sandwich). They dont have a choice -- but be a good soldier.

My father-in-law was involved in the poverty alleviation efforts in Yunnan, I saw this whole process from inside with him. He spent weeks far from home convincing young people in the mountains to return to school, helped to build and organize their communities, and so on. Watching this video made me feel proud of him and so proud of China for achieving such a remarkable and historical goal. 中国加油!
I am always amazed and enlightened when I watch these poverty alleviation documentaries. Only a gov't that truly cares for her citizens would do these herculean things. The CPC, unlike any other political party in the world or in history, truly delivers in its promise of bringing happiness and posperity to the Chinese people. Kudos to CGTN!
Not forgetting to mention all those govt staff n officers who died, documenting n helping all those in the rural areas, difficult to reach regions, deep or high up in the mountains. They have to be recognised n remembered for their hard work alleviating poverty. A Plaque with their names printed on it to commemorate their hardwork, will be much appreciated. Just my thought.

One of the most inspiring programme that I have seen in my lifetime; it isn’t about power or aggrandisement but simply to fulfil a basic goal of human decency- to break a bondage of suffering and to turn a dream of happiness into reality, a commitment between the government and its people to reshape a society which strives to exist in harmony for the common good. Indeed, there will be trials and tribulations in the execution of this great endeavour but it is the human spirit to create a better world where “all will have enough and none will have too little” that all obstacles shall be overcome.
Man, this video made me cry. This is the real reason why the west is demonizing China and CPC, because they don't want people on their country to figure out that government is also responsible for people's happiness. It is important to show them how to care and maintain/repair their new homes and appliances. When my parents moved into our new homes, they were clueless and almost destroyed the toilet when it got stuck. They didn't know something so simple that we take for granted. And many appliance they ruined before learning how to use properly. The house became damaged and fallen into bad shape because they did not know how to do simple maintenance and repair. I had to learn and fix many things myself.
the agricultural houses, growing plants in water is amazing. The water of course has all the chemicals needed for growth. Huge greenhouse type places. Yes, these type of buildings are necessary in bad climates. Good ending, the people look so happy.

The west media never talked about achievements of China's poverty alleviation programs. Hardly any foreigners know about the existence of such programs. I bet they have no idea of China's pair up aid program too, that is to pair the wealthy coastal provinces with the impoverished inland provinces, making the wealthy provinces obliged to support the impoverished provinces, especially Tibet and Xinjiang, with money, investment, and other types of aids. Many free housing for Tibetan villagers are built by Guangdong Province, Jiangsu Province, etc. The wealthy provinces also send in volunteers to be teachers there, taking in migrant workers from poor provinces, arranging programs to professional train locals etc...
Such a project or system will never work in the US or the west because their basic instinct and precept is individualism and what's in it for me. The selfishness in such societies itself is the problem.
I believe China is the most civil society on Earth because the Chinese cherish the principle's of peace, prosperity, and advancement for their people. Chinese policies are magnificent examples for other nations to learn from, and to consider adopting for themselves. Magnificent Chinese civil society!
This is what leaders are for. Caring for the well-being and happiness of the common people, whereas leaders of most other countries take care of themselves and whatever scraps left over, if any, then go to the poor

I don't think any Govt in the world has done such a massive scale welfare to its public...this is best investment a country can do. After 10 to 20 yrs, country will see it's fruits bearing when all these residents will be an asset to the country. So much to learn from China...

The desert situation looks EXCELLENT. They only had to move 90 kilometers to a town with all amenities, it looks lovely. I'm happy for them. Good water, school, playground, nice houses, etc. This is inspiring.
After watching all such undertaking by the Chinese Government, especially its party workers, all the negative comments by the anti-China group will never be able to change the views of those people her Government had helped. The world needs to seriously look at such an approach if poverty is meant to be eliminated. While allowing those who can compete those in such circumstances need special assistance! Bravos! China!!!!

It is important to show them how to care and maintain/repair their new homes and appliances. When my parents moved into our new homes, they were clueless and almost destroyed the toilet when it got stuck. They didn't know something so simple that we take for granted. And many appliance they ruined before learning how to use properly. The house became damaged and fallen into bad shape because they did not know how to do simple maintenance and repair. I had to learn and fix many things myself.
I believe their community have people give them tour and show them everything. And repair everything for them . Also people help each other.

The west media never talked about achievements of China's poverty alleviation programs. Hardly any foreigners know about the existence of such programs. I bet they have no idea of China's pair up aid program too, that is to pair the wealthy coastal provinces with the impoverished inland provinces, making the wealthy provinces obliged to support the impoverished provinces, especially Tibet and Xinjiang, with money, investment, and other types of aids. Many free housing for Tibetan villagers are built by Guangdong Province, Jiangsu Province, etc. The wealthy provinces also send in volunteers to be teachers there, taking in migrant workers from poor provinces, arranging programs to professional train locals etc...
Such a project or system will never work in the US or the west because their basic instinct and precept is individualism and what's in it for me. The selfishness in such societies itself is the problem.
Capitalists want to earn more but pay less! Even donations are manipulated. Interfacing politics and choosing presidents are called lobby.
