It was another F1 Sprint Weekend, though thankfully being at the track meant I could avoid all the hate for that on Twitter... Here are my thoughts on the whole experience!

If you told me that the highlight of this season would be the F1 comedy review I wouldn’t have believed you.
I would have cancelled my sky membership...
All i need is: Peter Windsor, the comedy review, and a Mohawk.
Must be a Lewis Stan.

backhanded compliment of the day
I find myself quite literally watching the broadcast of the practices, qualifying, and race and wondering what FP1Will shall have to say about each and every remarkable event or situation during that weeks upcoming Comedy Review... Congratulations my man, you have entered my subconscious!!! Well done sir! CHEERS!
For once I hope that Max will win the next race. Him being able to tie Vettel's record in his home GP will be awesome to see!
Yeah, it's like a fairy-tale, achieving possibly one of the hardest records in F1, in your home race, that's only something that happens in dreams
Epic jinx happening now.
That glamping looks an awful lot like camping 😂
Ikr… 😭😭
The best thing after a race weekend since WTF1 got stale (and imploded). Thanks for continuing to put this sort of content out for us
Thanks man!!
@@FP1Will no, thank you! :)
WTF1 imploded after matt and tommy had whatever happened happen, they actually have a new channel called P1 With Matt and Tommy and it's been an amazing podcast and YT show
@@frickin_robin TBH, IMO it's nothing nearly as good or entertaining as WTF1 was. I unsubbed from their channel because I personally find their shows... well, benign these days. Only my personal opinion.
Redbull having the first pitbox means that if max had pitted right away they wouldn't have been able to release him because of a almost unending line of cars all pitting (unless RB would have gone for a unsafe release... which a few teams did, like alpine, which got them a p3).
Max would have in all likelihood lost multiple grid positions instead of just 1. It was the right call.
Yes, that's what Max said in the post-race interview, it was "the safe choice". And being so at one with his car, I don't think he broke too much sweat about it.
Max could have pitted 2-3 laps later and still won. They have so much to play with
Hey guys, relatively new F1 fan here. (Found DTS one day and fell in the hole, then spent months consuming F1 history and docuseries to catch myself up.) This is the first full season i'm catching every race, and I look forward to these comedy reviews as much as I do the races. Thanks for the content!
No worries man!! Hope you’re enjoying the season!
You should look Lollipopman f1 comics videos. Always are more interesting than the actual race.
When I was on dialysis I watched from 2002-2019 on F1 TV. great for new fans
Maybe it was my low expectations set by 6 years in the military, but that looks like a pretty damn nice tent 😂
nah, I'm with you, that looks bigger than the tent I had to share with a classmate during a high school camp! (that was the same tent my scout group called a one-person tent, so you can imagine how small it was)
I was sitting on Gold 2, the big grandstand on the left. The atmosphere in it when Piastri took the lead was crazy with everyone cheering... Until Max took back his natural position
Will - as a Belgian I laughed at your border control joke 😂😂😂

Even the dutch seemed to be cheering for Piastri. Then again they probably had so much alchohol and saw orange in the lead and thought good. ROFL!
No red flag jingle -3 points but very enjoyable review regardless
Booooooooooo
Me waiting for Will to cover the indycar gp this weekend even though the race hasnt happened yet
Can’t wait!
All we know for sure is that Sting Ray will be mentioned
I am writing this because comments are good for the youtube algorithm.
Legend! Thank you!
Back in 2007 I attended the Belgium Motocross GP as it was rumored to be the last one at the famous Namur track. After a long trip from the US I took a train from Brussels to Namur and was greeted by every cab driver drinking beer as they waited for fares. At the very least I thought the worse thing that could happed would be a wild ride. The ride was uneventful but I'll never forget standing there and trying to guess which cab driver was the least hammered. I hope to get to Spa in the next year or so, wonder if the cab drivers near the track have the same love of beer.
8:05 the FIA's legitimate reasoning for why this was a racing incident is because "if Edo hadn't been there, Stoffel would've made the move"
"I didn't punch that man, he walked into my fist!"
You need to come across the pond for an IndyCar race. The flight may be expensive but the weekend ticket cost is pennies compared to F1 so so the price total will be like you never left Europe.
Great video again! I was looking yo for this after the race
Not the fans cheering Piastri whilst Max was born like 80km from the Track ☠️
He's not lying, I went to some of the old grand prix when schumacher was still driving, those V10s were something different.
"You just have to do it (go to a GP race)."
My bank account doesn't agree.
Loved the F1 comedy review today! Especially with making it a little bit longer than usual, my favourite joke has to be the Perez one!
Keep it up Will and hope you enjoyed Spa!

Yer a legend ! I find myself watching the race, and wondering just what you'll have to say about some of the shenanigans on the track.
I see we got maximum verstappen once again. PS France and Belgium are both in Schengen, buddy. No customs between the two.
Now that was great. Just ensure that you continue to recognise the 'good' humans at the tracks and I'll be learning your lines. Thank you for my supplemental smile lines. Cheers 😂 🇦🇺
I was also there and I feel your pain! (and I realize we sat on the same grand stand :D)
1:57 Wait... you weren't *actually* surprised there were no customs checks, right? 😅
Brexit really knocked them back to victorian times.
Should do a review of the Formula E race in London where the drivers turned the track into a carpark after the first three got past the second to last corner during the Saturday race.
Trailing his much faster young team mate to a disappointing weekend on no points - Danny is rediscovering his McLaren form faster than anyone expecting.
This guy doesnt know what the Schengen area is? 😂
The PIA-SAI incident in turn 1 is a difficult one. PIA clearly divebombed Sainz, but Sainz could perhaps given him a little more space. All in all I thought it was a very unfortunate racing incident that ended the race for two of the most promising podium contenders.
The HAM-PER on the other hand was a clear slam-dunk. HAM drove into Perez who was already on the outside and had nowhere to go. All HAM needed to do was to wait 1-2 corners at which time he would certainly have overtaken PER who was really struggling. I think this was out of pure frustration from Lewis, certainly not deliberate, but I expect a bit more circumspection from a 7-time WDC. The penalty was justified but unfortunate.
Great work, very entertaining review. Keep it up, new subscriber.
Nah a lot worse and obvious crashes have been racing incidents tbh
Missed the race due to being on vacation, was waiting for this one to figure out what i missed 😂
“DMing Kelly Piquet” killed me 😂

I legit had coca cola blast through my nose when you said “They saw orange and thought ‘good.’”😭😭
Will, how you start WW3 in the F1 fandom is say anything remotely negative about Lewis.
Also yes. Can confirm tracks in Belgium are way more undulating than they look on TV. Both Spa and Zolder, Assen too as well for the Netherlands too.
Oh do you mean how Lewis actually shouldn't be the WDC of 2008
That's one way to do it, or say anything negative about Senna, even though both Lewis and Senna are flawed and human

Has people already forgot how boring f1 was from 2014- 2020? . Max is the difference. So I really enjoy looking at his virtuoso skills
For those who aren't aware. The angry radio between Max and GP was actually codelanguage between them. Use your head and you had wear on those softs =watch out for the front endplate going through Eau Rouge.

I am really wondering what the Dutch GP: The Comedy Review will be like (That is me saying that as a Dutch person). This was a really great video Will. Keep up the great work.
Well I should be there in the flesh again so it’ll be chaos
Lewis attempting to repeat his trademark murder attempt on a RB driver once again. He knows by experience, he has nothing to lose but 5 seconds.
It was a good weekend indeed, Will!
Great video as always :)
Thanks again!
They saw orange in the lead and thought.... Good! Ha haha
I swear there's a magnet attached to the sides of the Red Bull and Mercedes cars so that they always make contact (I counted three times this year with Baku, Monaco, and Belgium). Of all the cars both those teams can crash into, it's their 2021 rival. I'm going to call it now that a Red Bull and Mercedes car are gonna come into contact again at least twice more in this season.
Also a quick shoutout to how Red Bull have managed to continue the streak of having their trophies knocked over or destroyed for three race weeks in a row.
Hopefully #blessed blesses us with a Verstappen free race the next time they collide.
Due to a bag of potato chips I had the subtitles on;
'Alpine management' was displayed as 'Our pain management'.
How interesting.. 🤔
Only 6 minutes in and already some home run jokes
"Board of Directors were treating it like a football club" 💀
I was there in Spa as well but was on the other side of the track, too bad I missed you then. Maybe next year then? :)
Hey who knows 😉
I have not been to an F1 GP as I have a family of 5 and don’t want to choose between a race weekend and paying the mortgage.
But I was at IC at Long Beach and that was amazing. The hatred for Max Verstappen amongst Indycar fans is just as vibrant as F1 fans. I was at a beer tent having a chat with a Brit, a Mexican, and an Aussie… all wondering when Hamilton was going to put him into a wall again.
They broke the trophy again!
I’m early enough that Max hasn’t yet taken the lead.

can we start a bring back haaswatch petition?
You should do of Formula E as well. Or you can do of next season.
I’ll attend a race when they actually start racing. Until then it’s just glorified show laps
How about uploading 8 hours red flag music for sleep and study
Normally get angry about your Formula e slander but on this occasion, yes that comment was deserved!

Since it's the comedy channel we have at least one Brit acknowledging that Hamilton (vs Perez) and Piastri (vs Sainz) were clearly in the wrong.
Do you think Piastri is British?

Is it just me or we are very close to seeing a come back of nasty Fernando. The old toxic Fernando. Aston is clearly losing pace, if they are lucky their max is p5 at the moment, I believe that at the beginning of the season Nando was expecting to win at least one race.
Hopefully they get their act together after the summer break, from what news outlets has said they weren't able to do it because they were moving to a new factory
I call BS, you're telling me you had open spots for hatred towards the French?? I drove a Peugeot 306XR as my first and a 206 as my second car and for every charming little thing they had one major issue.

Who thinks will should go to Vegas In November?
I wouldn’t be against that 😅
Aside from the usual predictable result, Spa is a classic track and it certainly has a rich history in F1, I just wished that the fight for wins was more like Formula E and IndyCar. Looks like we’ll have to wait until 2024 if we’re going to get another title battle like 2021 and not a one horse race like this year or the last. Honestly, for the fans to have a grudge against the British drivers is just childish like I am convinced the FIA, Red Bull and Helmut Marko are responsible for the F1 fandom being as bad as F1 Twitter.
Honestly, the FIA are incapable of making rules that are fit for purpose, they want closer racing but to penalise and criminalise hard racing that spices up the racing will only not only turn off anyone who isn’t a Red Bull driver but also long time fans who like me thinks IndyCar and Formula E are more exciting to watch than this year’s F1 championship. Maybe it’s time for the FIA to retire and give F1 a brand new governing body (such as Indy Racing League) to give the sport an urgent reset.
As a Briton myself the 'British Bias' arguments are really grating, as if other countries don't have their own biases. And even though I am a Hamilton fan and a McLaren fan I can guarantee that there are plenty of us who don't support Lewis. Honestly, I think Silverstone 2021 is the moment that the F1 fandom and F1 Twitter became as divisive as each other. And I think Red Bull, unintentionally or not, fanned the flames with their reaction afterwards (or rather, poured a gallon of petrol on the incident and lit the match. Not that the crash was insignificant, it was a big crash, just that in my personal opinion it was Hamilton's mistake (understeering) but Verstappen could possibly have given a little more space into Copse). As the season went on I enjoyed McLaren vs Ferrari more than the title fight, and not just because I'm a McLaren fan.
In general, I think the British F1 fanbase is pretty knowledgable and will happily support whoever they want to support and respect those who support someone else. This may be an extememly idealistic and naive pov but there are fans who have that attitude. We do like our pantomime villains though, and at the moment Verstappen and Red Bull seem to be filling that role.
@@dominicbarden4436 Exactly this.
The British bias arguments are the most tiring thing ever. When Paul Di Resta was on sky, he was Max Verstappen's biggest fan and too the point where it called be called "I dislike Lewis Hamilton because of ____ "
@@harry69007 Exactly. I hate the idea that among the respective fanbases of Hamilton and Verstappen there sometimes seems to be (presumably a vocal minority even if it doesn't feel like it at times) an idea that if you don't support 'their' driver you obviously support the other, even if you are actually a neutral!
Again, I think the British fanbase is generally very knowledgable of the sport as a whole: its history, its ins and outs, and there are fans of all manner of drivers and teams. Yes, it is clearly a very 'British-based' sport; we are the most successful country; most wins, most championships, most world champions and two of the most successful teams in McLaren and Williams are British (albeit McLaren was founded by a Kiwi). Seven of the current ten teams are based here, the British GP's been one of if not the highest attended race for most of the last decade and Sky are, unfortunately, possibly the most powerful media outlet in the sport. But I don't think there's the kind of religious fanaticism here for Lewis in the same way that is for Ferrari from the Tifosi in Italy or that some of the Orange Army might have for Verstappen. Don't get me wrong, Lewis has loads and loads of home support and is probably the most supported British driver, we see that every year, but the stands aren't wholly dominated by Mercedes merch, are they?
Most max fans are just toxic Dts fans that were just brought into the sport
So they have no wheel knowledge to begin with
I don't really watch F1, as I'm more of an Indycar guy, but is Verstappen winning literally every single race not seen as some kind of issue? What do you even do about this situation, given it's a least moderately because his car is better? Do they just leave things as they are and hope the other teams figure it out?
Welcome to the massive, massive downside of F1. It's really always been more of a car series than a driver-focused one (though obviously you ideally want both) and that means you often have one team or another out in front. Problem is it's gotten far worse in recent years as a) reliability is at a point you wouldn't be surprised to see an F1 car compete at Le Mans, b) the cost cap limits teams' ability to catch up through eye-watering spending, c) engine development is now frozen so you can't gain an advantage there either and d) the rule book is now so prescriptive the chances of developing a real game-changing initiative are almost zero. They can mess about a little bit but major changes have to wait until 2026. Even that isn't likely to fix things though as if it's a significant rule change (and it's likely to be, even if only as a reaction to the current era) the odds are you'll see exactly the same pattern with one or two teams nailing the design first time out and everyone else being limited by the cost cap from catching up quickly. If you want good open wheel racing rather than a 200mph soap opera stick with Indycar or give Formula E a whirl. Been doing that the last two years after almost four decades of watching F1 and so far at least there's been nothing to make me regret that decision.
@@smiddlehurst1 Thanks for elaborating, and with no disrespect to F1 fans, I cannot imagine watching these races outright knowing who was going to win. I've watched Formula E and can't enjoy any of it for the same reasons most people take issue with it, so I guess it's just Indycar for me, then. Thankfully it has been excellent this year and I'm going to a race in September.
