So with the 2021 Belgian Grand prix bringing an end to the summer break, I decided to have a little look back to the past... and to one of, if not the biggest crash in Formula One History, at the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix. Here's my take on that whole weekend!

"Turn his square face into a parallelogram" is the peak of comedy
Possibly the best joke I've ever made...
@@FP1Will possibly? You mean definitely right?
I preferred the Mine Craft picture...
This GP is remembered in Italy for the biggest jinx a commentator has ever done in a f1 race. At the beginning of the race he said "tutto regolare fino a questo momento" which is "it's all ok up untill now" a second before Coulthard crashed into everyone.
Hahahaha I didn't know this! Amazing!
This vid goes out to those who thought this year's Spa GP should have gone ahead. Astonishing nobody was seriously hurt in '98. Bonkers to run the thing.
This.
Especially considering F1 cars are A LOT saver these days.
You forgot to mention one of the Most Schumacher moments ever that came as a result of this race.
Ralph Schumacher was catching Hill but Jordan issued team orders to have a safe 1-2 finish. After learning that, Michael told Eddie Jordan to his face that his brother would never drive for him again and outright bought out Ralph's contract with Jordan (around £2M, Eddie Jordan confirmed this story himself) and managed to have him drive for Williams next season.
As a side note this enabled Frentzen to sign for Jordan and have a fantastic 99 season in which he finished 3rd and was in contention for the championship!
Anyway, Monaco 96 or Canada 2011 could be a prime candidates for this series!
It honestly would have been cruel for Hill to lose in the last few laps though. He'd been driving on the limit of the Jordan all day, keeping pace with the Ferraris. The only reason the rest of the field was close to him was because of all the safety cars.
@@mja2317 and it was the team's first win in F1. With all the crashing that had been going on that day the team order made total sense...way more than most Ferrari team orders during 2002 for example 😂
I wonder if Michael would have reacted differently if he wasn't pissed for crashing into Coulthard though (probably not)
Interesting to read about Michael's reaction to 1-2. I wish someone could've pulled Barrichello out of Ferrari after Austria 2002, by the way.
@David Lim my bad you are right!!!
Canada 2011 was immense!!! It had it all, Button was on it that day! But I'm a button fanboy so I would say that🤣🤣
Rosset's yeet into the wreckage was a certified ARCA BRAKES moment
Shout out to Schumacher for still being faster on 3-wheels :D
I love what you’re doing here. Glad you got video footage going again even if it is a lot of stock. It’s just something to look at while listening to your great wit. Keep it up! Very unique among all these F1 channels!
Thanks so much man!!
“One of the biggest pileups in motorsports history”
*Laughs in every Daytona 500 ever”
7:33 actually had me cackling, quality humour right there 🤣
Haha possibly one of the best jokes I've made that one 🤣
Wasn't Villeneuve's crash in FP2 a bet between him and his teammate, to see who dares to take Eau Rouge flat-out, something that wasn't possible with those cars?
Nope that was the year after I believe at BAR, and one that I will defo cover at some point in a separate video 🤣
Villeneuve crashed in 1998, then the next year he thought “Hey that was fun, let’s do it again!” and do it again he did. Then teammate Zonta saw it and said “Anything you can do I can do better” and decided to do some heroics into Eau Rouge, though the only heroics he achieved was losing all 4 wheels
Would love to see you do Canada 2011 next
this is a fantastic idea!
Whole heartedly agree. Jenson Buttons finest.
5:19 I never noticed that, hilarious.
There's a reason his surname is commonly rearranged to Tosser.
“A short view back to the past...”
He said it!
Mika Salo is now an expert commentator on Finnish TV's F1 coverage. He was talking last weekend about how he sprinted back to the pits after the crash at the start, only to find finish Diniz already sitting in the T-car. Of course, Salo was already in his spare car at the start after his crash in FP3.
I don't care which races you review. This is brilliant content and I'll watch whatever you want to put out. Thanks for doing this.
Thanks so much man!!!
The footage of Eddie Jordan jumping around "like a leprechann" is missing. That was the main reason I watched this video. :D
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy! Perfect video to wrap up the school week
haha thanks man!
"A short view back to the past". Pretty sure I have heard that recently...
2020 Vietnamese GP would be an absolute banger.
I'd love to see you take on Adelaide 1991. The shortest race-race ever.
Yes, race-race, not a parade of 2 laps behind the sc to make it a "race" and thus screw the refunds fans on track.
I miss the Goodyear vs Bridgestone tire wars.
this is basically what wouldve happened if the belgian gp actually went ahead under green flags and also what you missed was that ralf was multiple seconds a lap faster than damon but was forced behind him through teams orders which caused michael to buy out his brother's contract so he could sign for williams
I must say, both your way of speaking and generally humorous style of reviewing races remind me of newsreels from the 30s-50s
Why has it taken so long to find these?!? Your wit is brilliant!!
Thank you man!!
You forgot the teamorders from Eddie Jordan to Ralf Schumacher, who appeared to be deaf. Only after the 4th call of his racing engineer to not overtake Hill ( possible collision and no 1/2 ) Ralf responded. Fun as always.
You should do a review of the 1996 Monaco gp the race that no one wanted to win
"Well, we've got this ridiculous situation where we're all sitting by the start-finish line waiting for a winner to come past, and we don't seem to be getting one!" - James Hunt, Monaco, 1982
The 4 car US Grand Prix at Indy perhaps?
Keep up the good work !
Did this already! It's one of the earlier videos
6 car US GP
Still the craziest F1 race of all time.
It's up there for sure!
"One of the biggest pileups in motorsports history"
*laughs in talladega superspeedway*
1:45 it do be Benetton tho, missed a T there
(Ps love your videos, keep up the great content 👍)
Shhhhhhh 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video💪🏻😝😝😝 please make theese a serie
Just call it Classics comedy Review😉
Oh my god I can’t unsee the fact DC looks like MC Steve now
Hahaha my work here is done
I need more of these
Poor Barrichelo, as soon as he leaves, Jordan is winning races and fighting for a tittle 🤦♂️
can you make a video about the 1996 monaco grand prix?
good suggestion this!
0:54 "30 years ago niki lauda told us......."
Your take on F1 is such a crack up.
Found it!!!! Nice one mate.
Some say Schumacher’s tire is still orbiting the planet
🤣🤣🤣
My favourite race ever. But then again, I was always a massive Jordan fan.
Mate, the 2005 (I think?) US grand prize would be hilarious to do…. Nobody actually raced
I've actually done that one already! It's on the channel from about a year ago
Nice😁 i showed the start to a friend yesterday😝
good timing!
"Ralf, acknowledge!?!"
Hilarious, except Schumacher ran into Coulthard. Jean Todt had already talked to Ron Dennis about the developing situation with Michael and David. The McLaren team directed Coulthard to stay to the right and slow down. He did, but the spray and rain was so intense, Schumi couldn't see DC until the very last second. The crash forced Coulthard to retire as well.
While Lewis Hamilton finished the last lap of the British Grand Prix with a completely deflated front tire, Schumacher drove over a mile to the pits with only 3 wheels and tires! His Ferrari F300 was so stiffly sprung, he was actually able to steer and drive his car at speeds approaching 120 mph!
But the crash wasn't to blame on Coulthard.
Great video, even though when u said schumacher and controversy go with mazepin like hima and a d######,whicj somehow felt insulting, funny and makes sense at the same time, tjen again its probably because im a schumi fan, but i enjoyed the video alot🤣🤣🤣🤣
10 out of 10
Haha thank you mate
@@FP1Will Hey you should also try to review the time f1 drivers went on strike
The crash was a bigger catastrofuck than the 2020 Ferrari
Those ferrari's with the drop nose were so pretty imo
There were 22 drivers/cars in this race. Wish the 10 teams wouldn't be so damn greedy and allowed Andretti in the gird for 2025
So as a German I can say we always shit our pants when a famous German does something
You missed one of the funniest parts. F1 were so unprepared for Jordan to ever win a race that they didn't have the Irish National Anthem there for the constructor. So instead they played God Save The Queen as Eddie Jordan was on the podium
I had tickets for Spa in 2020 but Covid canceled the race. I'm so grateful that Spa would not let me attend the 2021 race because they only allowed European citizens with EU vaccine certificates to attend. I'm still amazed Spa didn't refund tickets after the rain fiasco race. Having been spurned twice, I decided to attend Hungary in 2022 and I had a great trip.
Is this becoming the the next MSTF1
And Esteban Tuero in the Minardi-Ford !
Please do a comedy review of US GP 2005!
Already done that one! Was a while ago though
Love this video
The next race should be (to stay with the rain) suzuka 2014
2. Maybe brazil 2003
3. Canada 2011
We don't talk about Suzuka 2014...still pisses me off Charlie Whiting didn't call that race off after the medical chopper couldn't take off.
@@mafiousbj It pisses me of as well
I loved JB17
Its so sad
But i think we should talk even more about things like this instead of forgetting it
1997 jerez or 1996 monaco please really good video
I bet couthards chin size had something to do with it
2005 US Gp next!
"We're going to take a short view back to the past."
Gentlemen...
finally someone clocked it!
Love your videos. You should cover the infamous 2005 US Grand Prix if you haven't already.
I have! It’s an old video but on there!
@@FP1Will nice! ill go check it out. its one of the more fascinating races in my opinion, for obvious reasons.
Hi
Please can you do a video on Le Mans 2023, that would probably be quite funny.
Ah yes, Dave's bad day.
I would love Valencia 2012 or France 1979
Yaaaaay, shitting on Mazipen. Because that hasn't been overdone to hell and back..
Too bad Schumi didn't decide to continue on with three wheels. I bet he still would've won the Grand Prix
ay man, can you do abu dhabi 2010?
Oooo maybe, at one point considered doing a video on the whole 2010 season
Vaguely remember watching this, just like any other race, with my dad... that start was something else 😅 Everyone is making fun of Bottas, but Coulthard did it first and did it better.
Also, how is Sauber still a thing? They've somehow been around for 31 years, which is probably longer than most current F1 drivers (too lazy to look that up) and have managed to win a race in that time. ONE. While also managing to come 5th or better in the constructors championship a total of 5 times. Most recently? 2008.
I remember watching this race with my dad. We were absolutely furious and 100% sure DC braked on purpose to take Michael out. Ah...good times 😃
HE GOT SPONSERSHIP. Officially made it, congrats lad ❤️
you should cover the 2005 US GP
Already done that! It's on the channel from about a year ago!
@@FP1Will oh, I'll make sure to check it out
4:41 "this is 1998 ...." when pilots had some balls left, and real legendary talent could still be seen when heavy rain made all cars nearly equal. And before any couch specialist start explaining me how right they are, this is also the view of a world champion who (spoiler alert!) did race in those condition, Nigel Mensel, so you are dismissed.
Villeneuve had this thing for trying to take eau rouge flat on his first flying laps when it was really hard to do it
One of the biggest pileups in motorsport history?? Biggest in F1, perhaps, but I'm pretty sure I've seen bigger pretty regularly in Nascar!! 😂😂
Continuing with wet races why not Canada 2011? Possibly the most extarordinary race in F1 history.
Definitely one I'll get around to at some point
@@FP1Will i sat through the whole 4 hours and 11 minutes of it as a 12 year old. Another would be Spain 2012.
DO MORE!
2010 abu dhabi
2012 European GP would be cool
I'll look into it!
F2/F3 comedy review? You could do them as shorts or just shorter videos
When I go full time I'd love to try this!
Do the 1989 Japanese Grand Prix
Thanks for the suggestion!!
Minecraft Steve 💀
1982 Monaco please 🙏
I'll see what I can do!
@@FP1Will legend 👏
1996 Monaco?
Should have run last year's race .. F1 has really ruined racing in recent years. Geez , even Nascar runs in the wet on non ovals
This race is a prime example of why the decision last year was nuts . Brilliant race .
Apart from carthorse forgetting how to drive .
Formula Podcast One
Formulaic but good content
what podcast
Made by one guy
Benetton is 2 t's
Plz do USA 2005
Already have haha, was about a year ago! will re share it to my community page!
@@FP1Will I remember watching it now lmao. What about Singapore 2008?
Most British point of view 😀
2008 Brazilian grand prix
Will defo get round to this at some point
Stop starting sentences with "so"
*SOOOOO intensifies* :D
It take three minutes to actually get to the content of a 10 minute video?

Why did you call David Coulthard Minecraft Steve?
Cheap humour aside, your antipathy towards Michael Schumacher's predicament in the incident at Spa '98 doesn't do your channel any favours.
Otherwise, your channel is spot ON!
Stop with the Mazepin hate bruh
