My M4 just got to 100k. I was dreading it, but now that it’s at 100k, I feel like it started a new life. And the car has 0 issues. Stock crankhub, Stage2.
@@f80jordan Thanks…a lot more people than you think are on the stock hub - including Beemerfam (he’s done over 20k miles on a Stage 2 tune). It actually only affects a very low single digit amount of cars. What mostly triggers the CH failure is the sudden force of torque via kickdown or money shifting.
@@yg78t76t7I agree, lotta people don’t why the crank hub spins in the first place. If you drive in manual mode and shift down before flooring then you’ll be fine
Maintenance over mods is so real. As with BMW, I would always recommend reinforcing the shit out of your engine before even modding the slightest. Also, people overlook custom ecu remap all the time. Getting an off the shelve map is not really that good. Custom map is always the best, as you need data logging. Even a simple air intake will need a remap, let a lone a full catless dp and catback exhaust.
@@throttletribevn Yes! Absolutely! Im not gonna lie tho, I have never educated myself on custom maps and how they work, But definitely something good to look into! Thank you!
~Mahalo~ great video and great advise. I'm a firm believer as well maintenance over mods every time. BTW I like the Hawaiian Flag I rock the same flag on M3 in the rear windows
Both are solid cars tbh! But know they have a common ground, which is being a BMW and will have those same common issues across all bmws (mainly gasket leaks/early prevention of those).

I had it for about a year I believe wasn’t my daily driver the coolant hoses were the turbo lines are went out that was about 1300 to replace my valve cover went out and I don’t really drive it hard just drive around I don’t know I’ve been having a bad experience lol

Over-all, I’d say 5-6k in a span of a year. I’d say I got lucky in the first few months cause I had a friend that did it and helped me for a really good price. Like the OFHG, water pump and thermostat parts and labor was under $1000 i think cause he had wholesale pricing on parts. And the valve cover, spark plugs and coils i did myself which saved me a lot of money.
the oil pan parts and labor was under $1000 too. The most i’ve spent was the control arms replacement and diff bushing cause I didnt have the proper tools so i had to take it to an indy shop that charged me 3k.
