FLASH TUTORIAL | Error: Menu Cannot Be Displayed Due To Incompatible Flash | CANON Cameras
Must of us have the Flash enabled. That is elementary basic information. The problem that sends us to the internet is that it is enabled but does not work.
I'm sorry but this video is as useless as saying "make sure ur camera is on to use it"... Ppl asked u for ur help because the menus don't work even when flash is enabled.... And by reading the comments... It all comes down to you saying "we are not familiar with that speedlight" or "it's not compatible" you even tell a guy his speedlight is not compatible even if his devices are all Canon.
I agree!
Yess,i have enabled and flash didnt work
Hello, Poker Hands. What is the camera and flash combination that you are using?
Mine says it even when it IS enabled
Hi Guillermo! Make sure that the flash you are using is compatible with your camera and camera brand (due different hot shoe connections).
What is Ho shoe connections?
i am having this issue with my canon 7D and a speedlite 600rt. this flash works flawlessly attached to the top of the camera hot shoe. When i try and use the remote settings, via the wireless on board flash option, it will not fire the flash. i get the "incompatible flash" error for the lower three menu settings. i have double checked the make sure the top portion of the flash menu is "enabled". So, athat means i can't get this camera body to wirelessly talk to the speedlite 600rt. i am going to think i need a st3 for it?
This is the answer i been looking for everywhere thank you sir you the best
Unfortunately, this video didn’t help. It is enabled and I’m still getting the; 'or flash’s power is turned off.’ message. This is either a firmware or hot shoe problem. I’ve been using the same wireless trigger for some years and it suddenly won’t fire the flash anymore. If anyone finds the error fix, I would be grateful.
Hello, TMC presentations. Sorry that this video didn't solve your issue. Please let me which flash, trigger set, and camera you are using. Also, feel free to contact us directly at support@digitalgoja.com for further assistance. Take care.
nope. TT560 on my Canon T3i.... nothing I do or change lets me access settings in ''External flash func. setting, or External flash CFn setting. Cannot clear settings. My conclusion is that the TT560 is entirely uncompatible with my T3i.
Thank you !!! you made my day..so simple too.
I was wrong still not working...Help
I have the altura universal flash and it works with my canon t6 but when it comes to accessing the external flash menu, i get the error message even though flash firing is on and the flash is working. Any tips?
Hi, please make sure that you are in the viewfinder mode, and also this is a manual flash unit so you will not be able to control it from your camera.
I have a 77d and a yn560, my flash setting is enabled but the menus for the flash say it's not compatible or the flash is off. It still fires on the hot shoot but not in live view and I can't change any setting for the external flash in camera
Hi, the flash unit is probably not compatible with the software of the camera so it will only work in manual mode.
I purchased the 6DM2 camera and it came with the Altura flash in a bundle, yet the flash will not be recognized by the camera even when it is Enabled. I think DG sent me the wrong flash, but decided to check here as well.
Hi Stacia, please make sure that you are using it in viewfinder mode only.
I have a canon t6i. Flash firing is enabled but menu is still saying incompatible.
Hi, please remember to use it only in viewfinder mode.
aaah, that fixed the issue
I don’t understand how do I put it in view finder mode
Even enabled on T5i, it says the flash is incompatible or turned off. It is a brand new flash. What to do now?
Hi, please contact the seller of the flash unit, they could be incompatible.
Hi. I have a Canon 450D That will Not Format the SD Card. It prompts me that the card needs to be formatted, but when I try it will Not recognize the card. I tried with all my cards. I even formatted the card with the PC, and with my other cameras. and still nothing. Any advice.
Hi, you should contact Canon as it could be a defect with the camera.
canon 2000d/t7 says menu not available. flash is off or unsupported, or an accessory is attached when i select external flash function, external flash c. function with and without my speed light attached...help please.
Hello, Kristie Louis. Glad to help out. Please let me know which flash you are using with your Canon Rebel T7 Camera. Thanks!
I have a Canon T7i and a yongnuo speedlite YN560 III I’ve tried manual wont let me access the settings I need the focus beam to work because of my low light photography
Hi, you need to use the TTL mode to access the settings.
I have the same problem. Did you find help
My TT560 can't seem to pair correctly. I can only shoot through the viewfinder and not remotely or through the LCD screen. Help?
Hi Oscar, unfortunately, we are not familiar with Neewer flashes, as we do not sell them.
I just bought a Canon eos rebel t6 with a Altura AP-FLS-UNV1 external flash but this is what its say wen I go into the flash control settings.
external flash func. setting menu not available. flash is of or unsupported, or an assessory is attached.
OK but the flash works but the camera focus light won't turn on wen am trying to talk pictures in the dark it only comes on wen am using the built-in flash can u help me please
Hi there! Please try setting your camera to "Manual" mode prior adjusting the flash settings.
Hi! I have the same issue but switching the camera to manual and also flash to manual doesn't help. That's odd because I'm using canon speedlite 430ex on rebel t5i. could there be more compatibile couple? :P
I have the 7d milk and a neewer 985c ettl flash, works fine on camera but I get this menu when trying to use it wirelessly.. I guess this means it is actually incompatible
Hi Ian, we are not familiar with Neewer products but we could suggest you to try using it in viewfinder mode.
Okay clearly it’s enabled and I have a ring flash that is compatable with my T7. But menu still shows up saying not available. THIS VIDEO IS USELESS DOESN’T HELP AT ALL
Hello, April Washburn. This is a common error message that pops up when you use third party flashes. The flash menu options is design specifically for Canon branded flashes. We would recommend changing the settings of the flash from the flash itself. Thanks for watching!
what if i did "enabled" that option but still my yn 560iii is unrecognizable when on top of my t3i? anyways i tried the wireless mode and it works...
Hi, we are not familiar with Yongnuo flashes and their compatibility.
I have a canon t3 and bought a canon 420ex for it. The flash is enabled and it fires the flash, a very strong flash. The pictures come out dark though as if there was no flash. If I try to configure the menu only part of it is available like where it says average flash, but the other option says flash is not compatible or flash power is off. I don't understand what's going on.
Could it be that the camera is not syncing with the flash? If so how could I fix that?
Hi, you should check for firmware updates for your camera.
@@DigitalGojaUSA thank you, I will do that and see if it solves the problem.
I did the firmware update but no luck. Thanks for trying to hep anyways.
@@afrancia7045 Hi, you should contact Canon directly so they can assist you with this issue.
I have the Canon T3i also. This error message pops up no matter what I try. I have my alien bee 800 connected and powered up. Flash fires just fine. But when I try to go change it to rear curtain I get this message. Does it only work if you have a flash connected to the hotshoe?
Hi Ron, we are not familiar with that flash unit but it could be due to incompatible software.
thanks!!!!!!😶😶😶😅
I had the same issue the trick is on the canon camera don’t press the start/stop button or els it won’t work. Turn on the camera press menu adjust the settings then turn on flash. Press the button to take a picture. Basically the view finder should be black and will show the image once the picture is taken
Thanks for the tip, miss witty baby!
I have canon 600 d and my internal pop up flash doesn't work
in flash control
built in flash settings error shows "this menu cannot be displayed external flash is attached" though external flash is not connected.
and in external flash setting
error
this menu cannot be displayed. incompatible flash or flash's power is turned off
pls help me
Hi there! It seems that there is something not working properly with your camera and camera hot shoe, I highly recommend to take it to an Authorized Canon repair store to identify the issue.
Thanks Izzy !
No problem Kevin! Take care.

Hello Poker Hands. Which flash are you using with your camera, and are you trying to photograph using the liveview function?
Your videos didn’t helped us at all
Hi, James Marc Aquino! Please let me know about the issue you are having so we can help you. You can also contact our customer service department at support@digitalgoja.com.
I have a cannon T6i & I bought an Onn. External Flash & I did everything it’s still saying the same message can someone help ?
Hello, Drippy Visuals. This is a common error message with third party flashes. The flash menu option on Canon cameras is designed specifically for Canon branded flash units. We would recommend make any changes through the flash's menu rather than through the menu of your camera. Thanks for watching.
I am using canon 80d purchased 3years.
I still can’t use mine on my t7. This camera is terrible. I can’t even return it because Best Buy policy.
Hello, Deni Dior. Sorry to hear about your issues with your Canon Rebel T7. Unfortunately, Canon removed the central triggering contact on the shoe cause some compatibility issues with non-Canon branded flashes. If you are interested in a flash that is compatible with your T7, we recommend checking out the Altura Photo AP-305 shoe mount Flash amzn.to/3iqblWB | #CommissionsEarned. Thanks for watching!
1500d flash external
Hi, many Canon flashes and third-party flashes work with it.
Flash firing is enabled and it still says not comparable :(
@The Tattooed Cookie artist The flash control through the menu is designed to work with Canon branded flashes and will give an error message when working with other types of flash units. We recommend changing the settings through the flash instead of using the camera's menu. Thanks for watching!
I bought one for my 650D. It works well when using the viewfinder, but won't fire when using the LCD Live View. Any idea why; or how to get it working?
When you use an external flash you won't be able to use the Live View mode, only the viewfinder.
Digital Goja that's exactly what I just said..
Digital Goja can you tell me how, or why? It's a stupid limitation. It works with the popup flash. I bought this particular equipment, including the camera with an articulated LCD screen, specifically for this obscure type of macro shot, where the viewfinder is inaccessible. FYI: It works on most similar Canon DSLRs.
This is a setting predetermined by Canon.
When I turn on the camera, there is a message shows me that "Card cannot be accessed. Reinsert/change the card or format card with camera". Before this happen, I put my SD card in wallet and I rested Wi-Fi/Function settings(I did that because I couldn't connect camera to my phone). please help~~
Hi! Just format the card in your camera, of course make sure you save anything before you do so.
Digital Goja I can not access those files in the SD card, I recovered some of them. But those videos unable to play.
Hi Michael, for any type of memory card issue you could try contacting Drive Savers www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/
Digital Goja thank you!
I had just this issue with my canon 7d and a photoolex m500 flash. The flash works fine, and the flash firing is enabled but the camera still says its incompatible. The pop up flash doesn't work though. Perhaps that has something to do with it.
Hi! Correct, that is a Fully Manual flash, so you can only work on Manual on the camera or put the built in flash on and the M500 on S2 mode.
the flash work first but now it didnt work
SUNPAK PZ42X is the flash
Hi Renjo! Unfortunately we are not familiar with the brand mentioned. We recommend getting in touch with the manufacturer/seller for assistance.
