    I am seeing allot of questions on this video about the use of flash.. that's great but first make sure you know the basic exposure triangle (Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO) before you turn on the flash. Now the in built flash sucks as a light source but its better than a totally dark picture (sometimes), and on camera speedlite is better as it gives you the option to bounce light off a wall or ceiling.. but the place you want to get to is off camera flash.. yes not covered in this video. Go grab your 60D or any camera and go learn exposure (Aperture, Shutter, ISO) then move to flash ... manual off camera) and work on that.
    I may do some tutorials on that stuff.. may but it depends on interest... that and I am working on a workshop at the moment as frankly its a better learning environment than being stuff in front of a keyboard and youtube.
    As for the 60D and flash menu options, you will see more options once you have got that camera off Auto modes. AV TV and Manual will show more options in the cameras menus.

      Hi Rick, guess what my 60D has no flash sub in the first menu block, neither in any block of the whole menu. Red Eye Reduction is the last field in the first block, so my camera for some reason will not display it. The selector wheel is in auto mode the green square. Is this a different version or am I doing something wrong? Thank you I subscribed today

    I disabled the flash on this same camera and now I can't find it to turn it back on.
    There is no flash mode under the Red-eye reduction setting any longer.
    Please, if anyone can help, it would be so much appreciated!
    eos 60 D Cannon.

    when i disabled the flash firing, on adobe bridge its saying "flash did not fire, compulsory mode". I assume that means that flash was not used and it prevents the camera from using flash ? Can you clarify that for me ? Thanks a bunch!

      Hi Sean, you are correct. It's just reporting the meta data the camera tags on the files.

    When you first went into the Wireless func. section there were four options - Disable, External with a : then built-in, External only, and External with a + then built-in. You only spoke of the first three - what is the difference between the External:Built-in and External+Built-in? I see this on my current camera and I can not find the answer anywhere!

    • @rickjbradbury
      @rickjbradbury  5 лет назад

      I no longer own the 60D so can't 100% sure.
      I believe the options allow you to just use the built in as a wireless commander flash ( or external speedlites)with no contribution to the exposure or do both use as a commander flash and also contribute to the exposure with the built in flash. Hard for me to confirm as I shoot with cameras that don't have a built in flash these days.

    I have a Canon 60D and the Canon Speedlite 430EX II. When I take some pictures of my daughter going to her prom I don't want the pictures to look like I took them with a point and shoot. I want shallow depth of field!!! So my question is how can I set the camera for Av (aperture priority) at it's widest so that the camera will pick a shutter speed that syncs with the 430 and the 430 only puts out enough light so the widest f-stop is now properly exposed? Or do I have to go manual?

    One question: Is this 60D touch screen? because in snapsort web they said that is not touch screen.

    • @rickjbradbury
      @rickjbradbury  10 лет назад +1

      Nope not touch screen. The 70D is.

    • @diegofotuche
      @diegofotuche 10 лет назад

      But, T5i is touch screen :( but can you view effects on screen when you changing iso and aperture right?

    • @rickjbradbury
      @rickjbradbury  10 лет назад +2

      Yes you can using live view. The button just to the right of the view finder. Allot of dslr's have touch screens now.. personally im no fan of them.

    • @diegofotuche
      @diegofotuche 10 лет назад +1

      Why you are not fan of them, maybe you convice me to not be a fan too. Also, I'm mega subscribed and Mega Like!

    • @rickjbradbury
      @rickjbradbury  10 лет назад +2

      Since im a stills guy mostly I have no interest in them or the fingerprints on the screen. :)
      That said the 60D will be moved to video only duties soon. Right now its my backup camera.
      If you want touch screen then go for it, everyone has different need from a camera.. stills, video, both.
      The 70D is the latest crop sensor from Canon but is pricey as its not been around too long.
      Its a better video camera than the 60D but better enough to make me want to upgrade the 60D as its fine for video productions I am planning.

      @rickjbradbury  5 лет назад +1

      Hi. The options you see in menus will vary based o the shooting mode the camera is in. Auto, Program, Manual etc.

    • @rickjbradbury

      Harish Hi. I don't have such a tutorial the 60D tutorial series has ended. Fill flash is not camera specific or even flash specific (on camera or off). I will be looking at that stuff on my new channel which is linked on this channels page.
