You don’t have to Toque the suppressor onto the muzzle device? I shot mine for the first time and after a mag in F/A it had loosened. So I torqued it for the second time
5:38 I do it the other way around - I place a flashlight in the upper and put a piece of paper or paper plate in front of the muzzle and check that it's a perfect circle.
If I have a can I want to basically leave on a specific rifle permanently, do you still recommend I constantly take it off to clean the brake and taper mount of the can?
Absolutely, I run the Recce 7 on both of my 223 rifles using 1/2x28 ( 5.56 ) taper mounts. It works perfectly as the taper interface for both the Recce 5 and the Recce 7 are the same. Bonus is that if you ever get a Recce 5 later your current mounts will work.
If I have a plan a micro brake tucked 5” inside my hand guard, is there any way I can get a fake can that has a plan a to use when the suppressors not on the gun?
I find my muzzle devices never really seem to come shiny clean after shooting a lot with my Paladin. I’ve tried a few different solutions. Any recommendations? What does the Griffin team use? Thanks!
Is the taper mount a pretty solid lockup without an additional ratcheting lock mechanism? Does it vibrate loose more? I love Griffin stuff but am curious about the security of this lockup.
So I have 2 EZ Brakes (one came with one of my Griffin Suppressors) and one Taper Mount Flash Hider. I have the Griffin Armorers Wrench. I also have the wrench that came with my suppressor. Idk why the EZ brakes don’t have two flat sides like the flash hider. I have to buy an extra tool. On top of the armorers wrench I bought from you guys thinking it would work on the EZ brake. Is there a reason why there isn’t a flat side on the EZ Brakes?
Joey Charron they’re available now! The design in the video which evan mentions as being updated is in reference to a product update we did on the flashcomp a couple years back (2-3 years ago)
The muzzle device should have a cut out on the bottom that you can use one of our Bushwhacker or Armorers wrenches to break the flash hider from the adapter. This typically only happens when the muzzle device isn't torqued to the proper 35 - 45 ft/lbs spec. You can also Rocksett your device if you don't plan to remove it.
How would one keep the minimlist brake from sticking in the taper mount on a optimius can. Would a grease or anti seize be good. I'm having issues on a 300blk AR
Regular interface cleaning (both the mount and silencer interface), after every range trip along with a light coat of the Horse Jipe 2300 on the thread and taper surfaces should prevent any sort of sticking!
@@GriffinArmamentOfficialbrake is under the hand guard so I can't really get at that too easy but it can clean the mount side. Is there a similar product I could use besides that specific antiseize? Thanks
Using your taper mount system on an optimus is it necessary to shoot a few shots and then re-tighten before going into larger volumes of fire? Similar to what one may do with a direct thread? Also after a large volume of fire after the sequence of events described above, would it be necessary to retighten the suppressor after it has a chance to cool down but before a subsequent large volume of fire begins? Thanks!
@@MYUSERNAME273 When you seat the taper mount properly (its a semi-locking taper meaning it requires more torque to loosen than it does to tighten) it will not back off while shooting. You should let the silencer cool to ambient temp before removing and checking tightness between longer strings of fire is never a bad thing!
Apologies for the simple question that was answered in the video but I just to make sure. I am installing the taper mount paladin 2 port brake in 6.5 creedmoor, the griffin logo is to be clocked at the 6 o'clock position (bottom) correct?
DO you have anything for Cali. everything on your product page says flash this flash that. I want something for bayonet ( 10 rounds go fast ) and maybe a blast can that all we can do in calif
Can a plan a taper mount adapter be ran on a 10.5” ar upper? Right now my optimus is a mile long off the end (with the 300 wm blast baffle) and I’m looking for the shortest possible mount
For our taper mountable suppressors such as the Recces, Paladins, Explorrs, the EZ Brake just screws onto your barrel and then the suppressor can be mounted on the muzzle device. For the Bushwhacker 46, the suppressor needs to be in the Plan A configuration (necessary parts for configuration are included with suppressor). For the Optimus 9, the suppressor needs to be in the Midsize or Taper Mount configuration (necessary parts for configuration are included with suppressor). If you're wanting to run the Optimus Micro on a taper mount, you'd need to purchase the Optimus Micro Taper Mount Interface as well as the desired taper mount as the Optimus Micro does not ship with the necessary parts to run in the taper mount configuration.
If the stuck taper mount is one of our newer style, it will have a slot in the back of the device. We do offer three tools that can interface with this slot. These tools are the GI Armorers Wrench Bushwhacker Wrench and the Mount Adapter Driver. These tools would be used by putting the wrench or driver into a bench vise and then placing the suppressor with stuck taper mount muzzle device over the tool. From there, you can simply unscrew the Plan A Adapter from the mount. The Plan A Adapters will either use the a standard AR15 Carbine Stock Wrench, Bushwhacker Wrench, or a 32mm open ended wrench. If this method is ineffective or you do not have either of these tools on hand, you can try a method using Loctite and a strap wrench. To remove the muzzle device with this method, you will need to apply a liberal amount of red thread locker (preferably Loctite 272) to the barrel threads. Screw the plan a/muzzle device onto the barrel as hand tight as possible. Let the thread locker set up for about thirty minutes. At that time you should be able to remove the Plan A adapter from the muzzle device, to add even better leverage we suggest the aid of a strap wrench or correct tool listed above. Once the Plan A Adapter has been removed from the muzzle device, remove the muzzle device with a standard wrench. Clean the threads thoroughly and reinstall the muzzle device to the proper torque spec (45 ft/lbs for 5/8 or other and 35 ft/lbs for 1/2x28). If the muzzle device is carbon locked onto the plan a adapter, soaking in a penetrating oil can assist in removing it. We have found Kroil to be very effective. If neither of the methods are effective, please let us know and we can issue you an RMA to send your adapter and muzzle device in under warranty.
Where can I find an open wrench like the one you use with your torque wrench to install my 1/2x28 and 5/8x24 minimalist breaks? I have never seen anything like what you are using and wouldn’t even know what to call it? Thanks!
What muzzle device do you have? The logo only goes on muzzle devices that require timing. The Griffin logo should be in the 6 o'clock position when the muzzle device is installed. Flash hiders would not have the logo as they do not require timing

Kinda wish you guys didn’t make it a pain in the @$$ to tighten the muzzle devices; it’s annoying that only a thin part *in the middle of the suppressor threads and the useless circular back part* is where you tighten it, which means having to order a specialized wrench for it instead of a standard wrench/socket. Seriously though, why is it not on the BACK of the muzzle device?? Poor design choice.
