If you want your turbo to boost quicker and sound louder. Shorten your exhaust and make the inlet not labour as much. Hole in the breather box around 60mm in diameter.
I've heard that the holes behind the silencer ring actually feed air to the slit in the turbo if you look in between the compressor fins there is a grove that if u remove the ring the air can get to there witch means you can gain more HP by removing it
All you accomplished there, was to remove what greatly helps to smoothly direct the incoming air flow into the compressor wheel. I sure hope you put it back.
It's a turbulence diffuser ring. Turbulence equals noise so they call it a silencer ring. As far as turbine engineering goes anyway. they put that on there because it's like if you put a nozzle on a hose it can Squirt further and your pistons are a few linear feet away, but on a hose you can adjust the fan blade to get the optimal distance and shape etc.. so that ring works the same way but that would be on a factory set up, for the most engine longevity Vs horsepower, economy and everything else you guys know about. I used to run gas turbine engines in the military so that's just my input, also changed about a million turbos rebuilt them in a rotatable pool system for Detroit 149 blah blah blah work shit 🤦😂😂
I look comments and you all say my 5.9 6.3 liters come on here in greece we have 1.0 eco boost turbo and we barely can pay the taxes life its not fair :'(
@scooter Dave From what I understand there have been other Cummins reps that have said the opposite. Meaning removing it doesn't hurt anything. Their are earlier models that didn't come with that buffer at all, but the inlet design was otherwise the same, did Cummins recall those? Or were there significant durability issues?
@@soupisfree Cummins says this was a RAM thing. They never required anything special, baffles or silencer rings, for the turbo. Therefore, all the arguments that its there to help the turbo is complete crap according to Cummins. They serve one purpose only, to make the turbo quieter as old men towing campers don't want to hear the noise.

Please label the title "How NOT to make your turbo whistle more"
I know its a little late by now ,but If you shange the intake pipe to metal you can gain some wihstle and sweet turbo sounds.
hur kommer det sig
I have a 24 valve 5.9 and it made a huge difference

Not to mention the weight savings you'll be doing
DieseL lover bro.. ✌️
Sharp truck bud
Good idea to take a part off that was sealed from dodge engineering to make a louder sound🙄
All I know is it's a wicked looking truck.
Thanks new upload very soon...
Use this for my v8 turbo suzuki swift
+15hp
The whistle comes from the turbine wheel in the rear of the turbo.

Naw
You must watch flair sir
i noticed
That's good. I guess it is a bit louder now that I've driven it more
I wish my 6.7's turbo had easy access like this one so I could take the silencer out
Swap in a fixed turbo
My dad has a 1997 dodge 2500 Cummins with a 6inch straight pipe (6 inches all the way to the motor)
Sheeeesh 6 inches dam
Damn son , thats huge .

@@bendoriot7069 I had a 98 12 valve with 6’ inch stacks was expensive
@@bendoriot7069 Why?
she sounds like my 7.3 at idle XDD
Hehe
I was thinking the same thing 7.3zzzzzz
hi new friend
Damn this is 12V Cummins by the idle sound
Yes
DIESEL SYNDICATE never mind you really said 12v at the beginning.
I dare you to go down a dusty road , or a decent river crossing.

So is this bad for your turbo longevity? I just heard of this thought to myself no way thats healthy
Are you Shure that's a genuine Holset turbo, the reason I said so is because Holset turbos whistle very loud even during idle
I believe so. It has the serial numbers. It does whistle decently. I expected 6.0 whistle tho

you need the extra turbo finned impala. the rest is bs.
why would u want this kind of turbo, a whistling turbo is a broken one(almost)
Broken sounds good
If you cannot understand why ppl want this kind of turbo its because you dont have the tuning flow in ur blood
