Had this noise on my 2007 Toyota Highlander 3.3 after belt, water pump, idler, tensioner. I replaced the Mitsuboshi belt that came in the kit, with a Toyto OEM belt. Several hundred miles, so far so good!
Quick tip the mitsuboshi is the original manufacturer so running that belt you won't have any problems!
@@Smokeybear_j.bAgree. Aisin timing belt/ pulley & WP kits contain OEM "aftermarket" parts. High quality and half the cost of Toyota.
Napa sells those Toyota side mount brackets with the two long bolts for less than $50. The bolts seize in them all the time.

Nice aluminum repair! I often questioned the strength of alumiweld rods because it’s more like brazing. But it looks very strong on your aluminum weld. Nice job.
Nice detail on the ccw rotation to get the timing marks correct. I remember doing a Sebring and it was perplexing when it kept going off by one tooth

Independent shop wants $1,307 to do this (along with cam & crank seals). Thinking of doing it myself if I am successful at doing the spark plugs and ignition coils.
Not a mechanic. Did all of my own suspension on my Camry this past summer. Looking to buy a 2004 Sienna and thought i'd just do the timing belt right away. Man this looks liek a nightmare lol
Just watched almost the same engine work but on a Lexus RX400h. This was done on the Rainman Ray Repairs RUclips channel. It also reminds me of doing this on a PT Cruiser. All the same stuff has to come off, but one of the brackets requires jacking the engine up and down to get the long bolts out without hitting the frame.
So much to learn in this video.

My question would be did you use genuine Toyota parts for all the work you’ve done on your Sienna?! More important in Toyota and Lexus than most American vehicles.
A little Allen wrench is good for holding the tensioner
Should have used an AISIN kit and you would not have had to redo it so soon, cost a little more but what did it cost you to redo the job. AISIN is the OE water pump company for Toyotas, and it includes a Mitsuboshi belt which is OE plus Toyo, NTN tensioners are OEM that come in the kit. Nothing wrong with Gates for something but not for a Toyota timing kit. Good job on hitting your timing marks most people miss turning the crank back one tooth to make it align right.
Ralively. Agree. I use Aisin for timing belt jobs. Some Toyota OEM parts are dual marked with Aisin name.
@@marccrotty8447 Actually the timing belts on Toyota's are Mitsuboshi belts. I have received a water pump from Aisin that had the Toyota's name ground off.

Not necessary to line up crank pulley timing marks. All reference lines for lining up timing belt are found on engine and cam covers.
The cam reference marks could be 180 out and line up. Need to be at TDC using the CS marks.
I have the problem new aisin kits 2 years ago and making noise when car warm up

I was kind of wondering if the bolts on that cover could be loosened through the slots in the camshaft gears and then just moved far enough for the water pump to slip out from under it and not require the removal of any camshaft gears.
Late reply but yes you can. I just did it on 05 Lexus ES330 with same engine--in fact you can just loosen the bolts that are not behind the cam sprockets and gently pry the backing plate forward.
Does it hurt the water pump running it without antifreeze?

bro my rx330 making noise to after replacing belt and water pump, i only heard the noise when car warms up,
I would definitely try and figure out where the noise is coming from. Last thing you want is the belt breaking

@@Ionlyexistpardner. yes, but in this case its not loose, its perfectly installed its just the belt itself, this 3.0 and 3.3 engine only wants oem belts
If the cheaper pullers work just fine why do you have the snap-on?? I suspect the cheaper ones stink.
Well at least it's not a 3.5 2GR-FE. You'd have to drop the engine for timing chain work.
NEVER !! EVER RUN A WATER PUMP DRY WITH NO COOLANT. it's spinning Faster than the crank. The seal will get hot almost instantly and get damaged.
Buy a new mount dont be cheap
