Hi Linda 😊 I was the follower who told you about using tulle. I'm planning on replacing liners of my 2 hanging baskets within the next couple of weeks. I'm thrilled with your brilliant idea! I will be doing the same! Thank you so much!
A couple years ago, I saw a YT gardener use that trick of filling in the soil around the plants. I think he pulled out the plants and left the cans before filling the voids with soil, then exchanged the cans with the plants. It was so fast and easy. That hanging basket looks so lovely. By the way, I watched your topiary workshop videos. You mentioned if you ever created your own line of products 😊 you'd make a scoop like the one you used for gravel, the galvanized metal cylindrical one with the handle on top. I look forward to seeing when your product line is available.
Beautiful as always ! Love it when Stuart ( hope I spelled that right , please forgive me if not ) answers with a shake of the camera - so funny - thanks for sharing what you do !
That is awesome, Linda!! And the ‘pots in place’ trick is so clever. I have hanging baskets with Pink Hearts petunias the same color (they look like they have pink and white stripes). And we know Stewart has many talents!! I’m with you...I just love getting dirty while gardening. 💕
Love the idea of hanging a basket from a tree. I found S hooks (like the one your basket hangs on in tree) like yours at the Dollar Tree. I used it for hanging a bird feeder as well. Bet that is a hefty basket after watering! Love your imperfect, perfectionism. I can totally relate. A mess is often necessary to create the vision❇️
I love S hooks. There are so many pleasing ways to use them. In addition to using them for bird feeders and hanging baskets outside, I use really big ones in my closet to hang purses.
That newly planted hanging basket will be gorgeous come summer ! Thanks , Linda , for showing us how to plant a hanging basket from scratch ! 👌😊❤️❤️❤️🎈🌹
Hi Linda, I have been gardening forever and never thought to put the whole container in a pot to make room for the plant!!!! Amazing!! Learn something new every day!! LOL! I love watching you!! Makes me wish I had more land to plant on!! Have a great day! Hi Stewart!! :)
Thank you for reminding me about scented geraniums. I used to buy about 4 different varieties each year, at the old house. Totally forgot about them. Love this video and the reminder!! Love, hugs, prayers.
Beautiful selection of plants! Thank you! Great hanging basket itself too! Sometimes I cut into the coir and plant begonias between the fretwork of the basket and it fills in beautifully! However, it covers up the basket! Happy Weekend!!🌸🌞🌸
Well now !!!! I TRULY needed this video: 1. I suck at stuffing containers & always am amazed at how people do this. Loved the hack of putting the pots in first ! 2. Grateful you mentioned the viewer’s comment from across the pond of Americans not planting the sides- omygoodness- 😳I would NEVER have thought about that !!!!!! 3. I always throw a tarp on the ground & squat to plant mine - a table & a lazy susan ???? Genius!!!!! One would think I hadn’t been gardening for multiple decades & hadn’t figured this out. Really feel like a dumb mass - But THANK YOU LINDA !!!!
Thanks for introducing your followers to Monica and scented geraniums. I met Monica in Arcadia today and picked up several scented geraniums from her! She is a delightful lady and I'm anxious to grow plants from her.
Thank you Linda for appreciating those sweet little blooms and not overlooking them. I adore scented geraniums and Rose scented is my favourite. Coincidentally I am propagating from a huge one today. Cherrio from Australia 🦋
Terrific idea using the pots as spacing! Making hanging planters or any container has never been fun for me because I want the plants perfectly spaced. This certainly helps solves that problem! 😊
Some great ideas there Linda, thank you. I always add a few water retaining gel crystals to my compost mix as it can cut down watering time! Available at all good garden centres or online here in the UK.
Love the use of tulle in the hanging basket. I had some left over from a backyard wedding and have been holding on to it. An every time I think to Goodwill it I don't thinking there can be a use for this somewhere around the house besides using it in a wreath!!!
This container is really beautiful. I am definitely adding scented geraniums to my shopping list for this years pots. Linda - where did you get the adorable leopard sweatshirt? I am a sucker for anything leopard print.
Looks great, I'm going to Amarillo sometime this week to flower shop can't wait, this year I'm going to plant varieties of Petunias and I'm going to get some geraniums and hellebores I believe this is going to be my theme in my backyard one of my rose bushes died that I've had for 25 years the freeze got it so I'm going to see if I can find another one I'm not sure what the name of it was wish me luck, thank you Linda for sharing always a pleasure to watch your videos and get ideas have a great day
The basket came out wonderful! I’m really into monochromatic plantings. Looking forward to seeing it in maturity. I also use Soil Moist in my container plantings to help hold moisture in the potting mix in full sun areas. Vermiculite holds moisture and nutrients better than perlite.
I have doves that occasionally come sit on my coir liners, but they appear to just hang out. This was early in the season when the plants in it were really young (eg., there was room to sit 😂), and now not so much. The tulle idea is a good one though!
This was great! Thank you for teaching all of us how to easily plant a hanging basket. You fertilized when you planted the baskets with a 6 month fertilizer. Can you share what you will use to fertilize weekly please? I’m completely confused on how to fertilize and scared to over fertilize. Thank you for everything!
I don’t worry too much about over fertilizing containers. They are watered so frequently that most of the nutrients Leach out. Try a weak solution of miracle grow or Espoma liquid grow!
I don't know if this is going to work, but I'm going to put grow bags into my coir basket liners. I'm going to shape them to fit, then cut off the extra at the top. My thought is that, even though both coir and grow bags seep water, the double lining should help keep the soil moist longer.
When I work on a large basket like that, I sit it on the top of a 5gal bucket. Im short so with it lower I can reach right into it to plant it up while the bucket holds it nice and secure. Btw I always plant my hanging baskets all around..
First, I'd like to tell you how much I appreciate what you do for gardeners! You bring such joy to so many. I picked up 3 large metal hanging baskets for free. A family was cleaning up a deceased family member & they were giving away items. I picked up some treasures for sure. I need to find the core liners, but can't find them locally. Do you know where I can order the size you have?
Way to go Stuart!💚🙃 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it’s a little too free flowing for me. I would like to see an update on it though, because you never know I’ve been known to change my mind💚🙃
Lovely basket. Right up my alley. 2 questions:: Do you put a little piece of plastic at the bottom just to hold a little water and what is the approx diameter of the basket? I was thinking of switching to lanterns instead of baskets but this looks easy and a lot less than what I was spending for a basket every year!
Asymmetrical balance can be just as pleasing as symmetrical balance, and asymmetry is often more beautiful and pleasing because it's dramatic and eye-catching.
I'm awful with hanging planters. Seems everything gets leggy and the water just spills out without getting to the plants. How often/what time of day/watering instrument do you use?
I love to see what you are up to, so I know what I can be doing in a few weeks possibly. I am in zone 7a in northern Arizona. What is your average last frost date there where you are in Oklahoma? We have till mid May. Should I be waiting till after that date to make similar hanging baskets?
The basket turned out so beautiful, I need to try your method with the pots inside first. I can't wait for your line to come on QVC. Do you have an exact date and time when you will be on?
@@LindaVater my birthday is the day before that so anything I buy in your line with be a birthday gift to myself! Everything that you've hinted that will be on the show is so beautiful!

No! Thank YOU!
Love your idea for spacing each plant, by using the original plant containers. Great idea!

I like the idea of training the trailing plant with floral picks.
Beautiful as always ! Love it when Stuart ( hope I spelled that right , please forgive me if not ) answers with a shake of the camera - so funny - thanks for sharing what you do !
Linda, this is the best tip ever! Can’t wait until your QVC line is available.
I really love how you have been listing the plants at the end of the video. Thank you. You so inspire.
This is an awesome video! Thank You Linda & Stuart!
Another amazing tip! Your ideas are so unique and effective! I will plant my hanging baskets like this from now on. Always grateful! 🙏

Very clever way to plant a basket. I've planted them for years, this is a big improvement to do. I adore the color scheme!
Simple but rich aromatic hanging basket and thats where true gardener shine.

I so enjoy your videos Linda. Tell Stuart/Stewart he needs to talk too... we would all like to hear him😀
Will do

I so needed to see this - thank you!
Gardening makes me so happy!!
Some great tips, thank you. Hanging basket is lovely.
Beautiful, love the mix! Try sitting your basket in a pot , it will stabilize the hanging basket while you put it together. 💚💯
Beautiful Linda. Thanks for making this one.
I’ve never planted hanging planters , I will start this weekend and I think I do like the liner to show. They are beautiful 🤍💐
A tutu skirt would be really cute AND Stewart is awesome
That geranium you plopped in is VERY impressive!!
Thank you Linda for appreciating those sweet little blooms and not overlooking them. I adore scented geraniums and Rose scented is my favourite. Coincidentally I am propagating from a huge one today. Cherrio from Australia 🦋
This basket evokes a rustic elegance.
What a great focal point from many different angles inside and outside.
Your basket turned out very pretty .
Great tips. I'm ready to plant my hanging baskets and will be using them soon! Thanks for the ideas.
so lush and green, love it! and great idea hanging from a tree.
Beautiful basket. I have scented geraniums coming in mail today.
No hanging baskets for me just yet , we had snow a few days ago . Great ideas about planting containers, thanks 🙏 Linda
Terrific idea using the pots as spacing! Making hanging planters or any container has never been fun for me because I want the plants perfectly spaced. This certainly helps solves that problem! 😊
Your potting trick for placing plants is brilliant! I am going to do that- it would satisfy or make me happy too!
So pretty in pink! Thanks for the ideas. I enjoy your channel and so does my teenage daughter!😊
Wow this was perfect. I’m new to grading and will definitely do this technique
Love the use of tulle as a coir protector. I've used it to line pot bottoms to prevent losing soil out the drainage holes.
I’ve been looking for scented geraniums around here but have not found any yet. The basket already looks lush and beautiful to me!
I love your videos. I also love seeing your beautiful garden. Thanks
Looks wonderful...thank God we are all different. Blessings
Looks beautiful
My favorite begonias have always been the angel wing begonias. It possible could be that it was my very first house plant I ever owned.
Great idea about planting your hanging baskets! I'm going to do this!
Some great ideas there Linda, thank you. I always add a few water retaining gel crystals to my compost mix as it can cut down watering time! Available at all good garden centres or online here in the UK.
Didn't catch HOW you hang it on the tree limb without damaging the limb... beautiful!
I use garden S hooks to hang things like a hanging basket or feeder from our trees.
Love all the Shows you do. Missed your tv debut would like to see it? Can you tell me how to get it. Jan
Great ideas, will use it this year when I plant my pots. Looks beautiful!! Thanks 😊

Good tips for pruning the plants after potting. Thx
Thank you ! I really enjoyed your video.

I’ll definitely try your planting method this week when I do my baskets. Cute jacket too. 😊
So smart! I’m planting up a basket tomorrow, so thank you!
Thank you! I always wondered what happened to my hanging basket liners! Looks like I’ll have to pick up some toulle to deter the birds.
Inspired me to consider planters and hanging baskets💛🏵💛
It is Beautiful,Thank you.!

Love your jacket it has a great OSU vibe ! Could you let me know where you got it?
Was hoping you would show how you hung the basket in the tree.
It looked gorgeous. Any special double hook for tree and for basket?
Thank you for the info. I'm learning a lot from you.

You can order them on hone depots website or Amazon. I’ve ordered them from both in various sizes. Home Depot is pretty cheap actually!
Melissa Sullivan Thank you Melissa, I will try ordering them from Walmart.
I love this idea. I’d like to find shade plants to hang under a Crepe Myrtle in 7b! 🌺
This is genius. Thank you for sharing. ❤️
Great Basket🌸
I name this basket Pretty in Pink! Hope you do not mind me asking what brand of jeans do you wear?
Very nice arrangement; thanks for the tips, especially the tulle. Let’s us know if it keeps the critters from stealing the coir.
Tulle! Brilliant.
Very pretty. can you take the cutting and use them to start a new plant? Thank you for sharing.
I would love to see how you have hung the basket from the tree, Is it one of those large s hooks?
great video
That basket is pretty big. What size to accommodate all those pots?
It’s wonderful watching during my morning coffee, thank you!
I love your jeans!! What brand are they please?
I love your wire domes too!
You said feed weekly but you used Osmocote in the soil. Do you fertilize weekly with liquid fertilizer?
Yup!
I think Charlotte Russe:)
Lazy susans are very handy for floral arranging too.
Good idea ❤️my friend

What do you do to keep the baskets alive when you go on vacation? I get so anxious about it that I have stopped making baskets.
Love your hoodie, makes a statement. Would you mind sharing where you bought it

We are April 15. If your prostate isn’t until in May, I’d probably wait a bit longer. Just keep watching your ten-day forecast :-)
