very cool mix but barely ever using more than 2 channels? would love to see a DnB mix on this or something where the 4 channels would actually be useful
But he didn’t use the sync button. He’s a good DJ, 4 channels or not. I see a lot DJ’s always using the sync. I’m old school l, learnt on turntables, didn’t have the sync then so I see it as cheating, but everyone entitled to their own

@@ragah3372 yeah your right, plus these days you can just match the bpm and drop in at the right time. I’ve just got myself a ddj800 and loving it, do miss the old days tho.
I have this controller wasn’t sure if it was a good idea getting it but I personally love it
I am from the days2 turntables and a mixer with no effects.. its not what you rock on it's how you rock it...if you are good you can make a $250 Controller rock like a $1200 one .

one Question. How did you make this Loop with the Merge FX? i have this controller and i use it with Rekordbox but i didn´t find an Option like this. Hopefully i get an Answer and have a Great Day.
I feel Pioneer should have FX Paddles on each channel versus still using a channel select to assign the effects. At the very least there could have been A,B,C,D, or 3,1,2,4 dedicated and illuminated buttons.
They used to have separate fx on each deck, just like most serato controllers but they changed this with the ddj400-1000 line to be similar with a cdj/djm setup. From a marketing stand point it makes a difference, as it makes them the only controllers with a "professional" beat fx layout

@@s_t_e_n it's stupid. This layout makes it kind of slow to execute effect on the fly, because you have to make sure the right channel is selected before activating an effect. That's an unnecessary extra step. I was hoping for the effect paddles! Oh well nice looking controller but I'll pass.
@@P4boot The paddle style effect triggers are found on battle mixers like the DJM-S9 and DJM-S11. The style on the DDJ-FLX6 is modeled after a DJM-900NXS2 mixer. It's not a copy of the mixer's beat FX, but made similar to the style so that a DJ can eventually get used to it and get on the pro mixer with CDJs.

Serato/pioneer customers was asking Pioneer to Make a Pioneer DDJ 800 & instead they made it for themselves. Numark Was Dead & gone but anyway numark came back from the dead & pick up on it and make the MIXTRACK PLATINUM FX & now it's the best 2020 Controller.

Fantastic set! Does the full version of Serato Pro That's included with this controller work on other controllers? Like will it work on my other equipment and my second laptop and still be in pro mode? Because I have a total of three laptops and three other controllers

@@d.j.z.j yes, but do not rely on this controller outside of your home. It only has rca. The build can't last if you're rough with it ouside. If you're doing small stuff and generally having fun outside with friends etc or something then go for it. Do not expect it to be an event crusher because it cannot be one unless you have a way to get it hooked up to a big system. It's how you use it anyway i can't tell you what to do.

Since you are a serato dj user. There are a lot of options but may slightly expensive (from $50-$100 more)

You could also look into gettig a second hand controller, you might get more bang for your buck.
If you think good build quality and connectivity (XLR outputs, deck inputs, and waaay better mic input and controls) is important, you could for instance look for a ddj-sx2.

I have so much to learn.
Just sad that we do only hear the internal recording of Serato and not the recording from one of the outputs. You can have so much difference between controllers with the same DJ software that having to hear an external output recording should be better. This aside, it is a very good mix.

I have the FLX6 & the 400 & have noticed the pitch on the FLX6 is more accurate (higher Res/more increments) in Rekordbox despite essentially being the same component. I find this odd.

Bugger the CDJs in my opinion. I've been mixing since 1997 & I've mixed on all of it & still do. This is the future now. It was piss poor years ago when I tried it, too much latency, cr*p coarse pitch resolution, now it's right on it. So much more you can do with it. The CDJs are basically little computers with the same software installed on (Rekordbox) anyway. They're just more limited. & The digital DJM mixers firmware contains the same parameters as in the software. Only good thing about CDJs now is turning up with headphones & a USB flash drive to carry, that's all. If someone was starting out I would recommend a controller set up.
Why build such large jogs with tiny pads.....doesn't make sense at all
It's an intermediate Rekordbox and Serato controller specifically geared as a next step from using the DDJ-400 and DDJ-SB3, which have similarly sized pads.
I’d honestly take smaller pads for bigger jogs any day of the week. Guess it depends on personal preference.

Interesting controller for some features, but the pads and the pitch are too small, they should have make smaller jog wheels. Nothing new, I prefere DDj 800 and Ddj 1000.
I personally like big jogs. It sets it apart from the 800 and 400 as a lower price point than the 1000. Not too keen on the layout and lack of Serato specific controls like three controllable effects per deck. That would be killer imo
@@djphilly44 The concept seems to be the direct the user towards a more Nexus-style setup. But if you want to get crazy on the effect layering, you can do that using Rekordbox since the filter can be changed to other color effects. You can have Dub Echo mixed with a TRANS beat FX.
The 800 jogs are way too small tho, I know they are the standard for controller but full sized jogs are so much nicer to use.

@@DJDREXTV well the focus of this controller was to give a larger jog wheel and 4 deck mixer control to the 400/SB3 users who aren't ready to spend twice as much or more to get there. It's not meant to be a controller for professional gigging. Rather, giving the aspiring DJ a way to practice some pro features without spend $1200 or more.

DDJ-1000 will have you set for years to come. This thing is a gimmick for its price.
@@ivanlozano8782 I couldn't agree more. The 1000 is by far the best controller out there. Sure it's pricey, but it's as close to pro gear as you'll get. Then of course there's rekordbox, THE industry standard. @Visualbug, if the 1000 is out of your price range, then the 800. Avoid anything else. You will not regret it.
I love my DDJ-1000. It's really close to Nexus setup. The jog wheels are mechanical, which is a little weird at first but honestly - the controller is a game changer.

The FLX6 looks so good but $600 is too much, 450-500 could be the perfect price for this controller

On that controller the pitch control is short
It's shorter than professional controllers. But it's larger than an SB3 and the same as the DDJ-400, which many of the users of this controller will be upgrading from.

I love the way he mixes the songs together ....but I hate hate hate it when they give you a taste of a certain song and don’t play the song!!! if I hear a taste of a song and folks like it, really, like play the darn song!!! don’t just like cut it off and go to another song, or use it to add in a mix just cause it sounds good, the crowd wants to hear that song you’re playing!!! don’t cut it and go to another song and never play it!!! in my youth, up in the clubs, everybody I knew would complain about that and they still do it to this day!!

Sick mix dude, you didn’t use the sync button like I see so many people do. I think shouldn’t even be a sync button, completely cheating, makes me cringe. I’m old school it’s all about manually matching and scratching.

That merge thing is cool how do you do it on the ddj 400
You can setup the performance pads to use any FX you want, then press as few or as many of the pads as you need for the mix, and you can do this on a 400.

I dont get the hate. I'm thinking about upgrading from my ddj-400 to a flx6... the ddj-1000 are twice the price of the flx6 and not that different in my eyes. Can someone tell me why the ddj-1000 is worth 600 more than a flx6?
The build quality and audio connections are majorly different sadly.
It's got a proper fully fledged hardware mixer so you can connect your cdj/media players or turntables as well.

Your ddj 1000 is comepletly 100% superior to this. This isn't the proper controller to bring out to gigs, it's for people who want to dj at home or maybe at a party. This cannot handle rough conditions. Features are limited it's basically a 4 channel ddj 400 but bigger jogwheels.
Ddj 1000 is solid and has xlr outputs, these are optimal for event pa systems, they might also have other accessories so you can use them with the ddj1000.

I for one would probably opt for the 800 since I'm not gonna do much layering and super quick mix mashes and dj yamato style mixing. Maybe i'll even go for the traktor s4 mk3 since it's cheaper + it has xlr in which i can plug into my mixer.

There are deck control buttons.
Deck 3 becomes deck 1, deck 4 becomes deck 2 and vice versa.
