    Lyrics:
We’re biding time as we wait for the signal
Sharpening blades while we wait out the storm
These cold nights are almost unbearable
    But purpose keeps us warm
Pledge allegiance while crossing our fingers
A bark with no bite, no teeth just a roar
You’re not a thorn in our side; you’re a splinter
We are ready but we’re bored
Just holding our place in line
And everything moves too slow now
    Breaking away in time
    They have the power
    We have the numbers now
It’s all just a constant illusion
    Of control
    They break us like horses
How long will we drag their plow?
    What will continue to be
    Is what we allow…
And still we worship at altars so empty
Consumption of something we don’t need at all
    Holes we can’t fill
    A never-ending song;
    “Again, from the top now…”
Textbook cases we all fit the profile
Mass surveillance we opened the door
Prey on the fears, the blurred lines of right and wrong
Sped up ’til we can’t slow down
    And at this velocity
One wrong move and we go down
    Brace for the reckoning
    They have the power
    We have the numbers
It’s all just a constant illusion
    Of control
    They break us like horses
How long will we drag their plow?
    What will continue to be
    Is what we allow…
    Heavy are the chains
    We fasten to ourselves
    Gathering the thorns
    To shape into a crown
    Is this saddle comfortable?
Do these reigns feel tight enough?
Will you gallop when you’re kicked?
    Or throw the rider off
Are you the willing and the able
    Or are you spoken for?
Destined to serve what you abhor
    Until it all gives out
    Listen
    Fuck what you call normal
    And this pressure to conform
    (Break free)
    It’s your trail to blaze
    Or your bridge to burn
    They have the power
    We have the numbers now
It’s all just a constant illusion
    Of control
    They break us like horses
How long will we drag their plow?
    What will continue to be
    Is what we allow…

I don't want to say that this song "sounds like the old Rise Against" because I believe that bands should always move forward and evolve. What I will say is that this song has the same fire and bite that made me fall in love with Rise Against in the first place. This is the kind of music, intensity and composition that I love to listen to.

@@m.a.9517 I actually think Brandon and Joe are the standouts in this song. I find Tim’s vocals to almost become cliche for Appeal to Reason/radio Rise Against for over a decade. Savior, Long Forgotten Sons, I Don’t Wanna Be Here Anymore, Nowhere Generation and some all have the same kinds of choruses with Tim. Those are the only types of Rise Against songs that I dislike. They became a thing from 2008 onwards when Tim’s voice evolved and couldn’t take the faster and deeper tones as much like the choruses on Heaven Knows or Everchanging or Life Less Frightening. 2008 was when Rise Against stopped being my favorite band because they added this new element which also exploded on the radio and changed the set list vibe of all the shows. Instead of fast Rise Against that packed a punch, it became more generic
The point is I think Brandon and Joe take a medicore song and make it much better. Tim’s lyrics are always on point though. I love what is being said at me, just not how its delivered.

They claim to not conform but are conforming to the hive-mind of the radical left. I definitely agree that God is not a fan of everything about the USA (murder, abortion (the murder of the most innocent of us all), greed, sexual deviance, sexual freedom, looting/burning, destruction of things that aren't yours, all of the hatred, etc...). There are definitely things that we are doing right though (pro-Isreal, the fundamentals of our laws based on the 10 commandments, the abolishment of slavery to be followed by the rest of the world, charitable to the rest of the world, the keepers of peace, and still a large percentage of Christ-followers). This has no doubt locked in top spot on my Spotify 100 most played for the year. It's been on repeat for me non-stop for four days now.
Best RA track in a decade, the galloping drums are reminiscent of Sufferer

Rise Against have been incorporating the old (first 3 albums) with the new and I appreciate this evolution of Rise Against. Brandon's drums are back to being fast as hell!!! (Black Masks and Gasoline level) and Joe Principe's bass back to being on equal footing to the guitars. Both of these aspects were absent in mainstream Rise Against (Appeal to Reason onwards). Nice to see the Rise Against I feel in love with in 2003 back!!!

@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 I actually like Endgame. It was new and experimental. I was just put off by the appeal to a wider audience, but every band does that when they get successful. It's Appeal to Reason which I can find no redeeming qualities (except for the Dirt Whispered. That song is fucking awesome, Collapse also has some of Tim's best lyrics. Tim sings in metaphors, but Collapse is written so well that what would usually be metaphors are actually just literal.
When our rivers run dry and our crops cease to grow
And when our summers grow longer and winters won't snow
From the banks of the ocean and the ice in the hills
To the fight in the desert where progress stands still
      When we've lost our will
      That's how we'll know
This is not a test, we'll know
      This is cardiac arrest
Of a world too proud to admit our mistakes
We're crashing into the ground as we all fall from grace

Such a powerful and motivational song, especially the phrase "What will continue to be is what we allow" in particular.

Im still a huge fan of the Rise Against from my first and favorite album of theirs, RPM! But my goodness... How do these guys continue to drop Anthem after Anthem without falling off? Atleast for me i feel that they adapt to the times without abandoning what makes them, well them i guess... All albums have a similar sound from one to the next yet, The Unraveling is completely different from The Black Market (if that makes any sense).. This is the reason they're hands down my favorite band! About to see them live for my 25th time in October at Aftershock and this day can't get here soon enough since its been 3 years since I've seen them live.
