    The borealis probably has the code for half life 3. And since valve can't find the borealis, half life 3 can't be made.

    What is most likely on board the Borealis is same-dimension portal technology, like the Portal Gun, but on a much larger scale--to compete with inter-dimensional portal technology developed at Black Mesa.
    In HL2 we learn that the Combine can only open portals to other dimensions, and that the only localized teleport they had was the one at Nova Prospekt most likely developed by Breen, the late Admin of Black Mesa, and made functional by Mossman. This teleporter is destroyed as Gordon and Alyx escape, leaving the Combine without this technology yet again.
    At the end of Half-Life 2 we see Breen bargaining for his life with the Advisors, and despite his position on Earth being made void by the rebellion, the Advisors accept to teleport him back to their homeworld and give him a surrogate body. Why do this when he has no value any more as "leader" of Earth? Because of his knowledge of teleportation technology. It's the same reason Eli and Mossman are captured instead of outright killed to eliminate the leadership of the resistance: because of their knowledge of same-universe portal technology.
    That's why the Combine are after the Borealis, because it contains Aperture Science's portal technology, something the Combine can absorb and exploit to no end. In Half-Life: Opposing Force the G-Man re-arms the nuclear bomb planted by the spec ops and destroys the entirety of Black Mesa and all physical traces of its technology. Eli is full aware that the Combine cannot be allowed to get their hands on this, and wants the ship destroyed. But of course this is not in G-Man's plans, so he arranges for Eli's death so that the Human resistance will have no specific command from their leader to destroy the portal technology.
    Speaking of G-Man, it's obvious that he and his employers are attempting to orchestrate the downfall of the Combine, mainly the Psychic Advisor ruling caste. This could be because of some conflict between the "Employers" and the Combine, or merely that as psychic beings, they are competing with another. Either way, G-man sets up the events of Half-Life 1 to lure the Combine to Earth, and then in Half-Life 2 he sets up the events to destroy the Citadel and trap Advisors on Earth. I think it is likely the G-Man and the "Employers" are using Humans and Earth to destroy the Combine and that the portal technology on the Borealis will aid them to that effect. Whether if that's for the good of the universe, or for themselves, is another matter entirely.

    So if the technology onboard Borealis allowed about same powers as Gman and his employers - could it be that they are themselves related to Aperture Science? What if they are (ex) employees of Aperture Science, perhaps those who were on the ship when it malfunctioned? They eventually learned how to stabilize it and realized they have the power to control anything and thus no longer need to work for anyone, and began doing what they want.
    Ofcourse, this creates questions like "Why would Gman then want Borealis to be discovered?". Still, something to think about.

They make a disgusting amount of money for Steam, Dota, and CS:GO that making an expensive single player game just doesn't seem worth it for them when they can instead focus their time on games that will give a continuous stream of income.

    I have to correct you about the "multiverse".
    Interdimensional and Multiversal are similar things, dimensions are planes of existence, Universes exist WITHIN dimensions. The Combine are a multiversal/interdimensional empire.
    You are right about the Multiverse theory and how insignificant changes create a new timeline or universe, most likely in the 3rd dimension as well, but that's how the G-man can see all that, because he's a being capable of experiencing higher dimensions than the 3rd, that's how he can see the multiverse and the ramifications of events.
    Earth and Xen aren't dimensions, they're worlds, world's CAN'T be dimensions, worlds are IN dimensions, it's like saying Earth is the 3rd dimension, Earth is IN the 3rd dimension, but not only that, it's in the 1st and 2nd dimensions too, probably 4th and 5th and so forth too, but we can't perceive anything above the 3rd dimension for obvious reasons.
    Opening portals BETWEEN dimensions to other worlds and other universes is what the Combine already does, what the combine CAN'T do is opening INTRAdimensional portals, portals within the same dimension, like the ones aperture science did, that's probably why they want the Borealis, the Combine can't teleport inside earth, they have to travel the old fashion way, in a straight line from point A to point B.
    So having the ability to instantly move within the same dimension is a priceless advantage.

    remember in old aperture in that one test when cave johnson mentions that "this test may contain trace amounts of time travel", and he says not to interact with yourself if you see yourself in the test, because it will destroy all time, past and future? i always thought it was always a seemingly random detail and never really made sense, and i never really thought much of it, but it seems to make sense now and tyler mcvicker from vnn is saying the half-life: alyx may involve time travel (there might be two voice actors for alyx in the game, hinting at a younger and older version of alyx, and valve is recommending that you play episode 2 before you play HLA, suggesting that you will find out what eli was going to tell gordon at the end of episode 2, or might be suggesting something else, that is just speculation). does this also mean that the borealis will be involved in HLA?
    edit: in your video about caroline and the gman you mentioned that she might have made a deal with the gman to get revenge on aperture science. what if eli made a deal with the gman, or what he was going to tell gordon at the end of episode 2 was somehow related to what was on the borealis?
    oh my, this is so much to take in, but i'm so excited.

    What if the borealis in that world is the borealis from another universe...
    The borealis in the Half life universe could be the borealis from another, paralell universe since they may have researched the same things there, did the same tests and ended up with their borealis in the Half Life universe... while the original one is still gone...
    That would mean under the line its still the same ship... but from another universe... which is just mind twisting if that would be the case.

    It was actually an alternate aperture that was doing this, not our own that we see in the half life and portal games. I think the borealis is what our aperture was going to use to do this but obviously it didn’t work out and it teleported away.
    I think this might be because the scientists in the borealis somehow found out about the combine invasion before it happened and choose to try and stop them from finding the ship while they still had power over it. This caused the ship to be teleported into the arctic where they hoped it would go undiscovered.
    Either that or gman did this to stop the combine from using it, both of these explanations cover rat man screaming about how the ship was stolen.
    Now, it could also be black Mesa who tried to steal the ship but ended up getting it fucked but I doubt that since breen would have probably already given it to the combine or at least tried to find it faster by the events of hl2

    I kind of think that Valve is going to release a game with Half Life and Portal combined from a different characters point of view. Idk maybe some different character finds the borealis, gets some technology that is CRAZY powerful and wins the entire war himself/ herself while everyone just sits there watching. And then they would find out G-man is apart of the Combine trying to lore Gordan to his side, so he/ she would kill G-Man, take Gordan as a person to fight with, and they are just these two people with crazy powerful skills and they locate the Combine Empire and find out that they want everyone dead because the Combine Empire wants to use their planet for reproducing their kind and keeping themselves alive because their planet is going to self destruct because... idk I should work for Valve and just do this myself.

      Not only was Doug Rattmann very intelligent all across the board (pay close attention to his murals), but he also was adept in technical skills. He canonically found out Cave Johnson's account login and password somehow (Doug scrawled it in one of his dens in the first game; if I'm not mistaken, it was behind the maintenance wall in test chamber 17?) -- meaning that Doug Rattmann could have actually known a LOT more than you might think, given his (unmedicated) mental illness and even his job description (he was a software engineer for Aperture's image formatting, for those who didn't know). Don't be so quick to underestimate him. ;)
      ** lol of course he would have still understood words?? Paranoid schizophrenia doesn't change your level of intelligence; it (very basically) affects your ability to differentiate reality from your imagination, and the illness has varying severity levels (please look the illness up for yourselves sometime, because this is a massive derailment from the topic and I am not a doctor).

    Your theory could be true, until it's impossible. Multiverse is just annouced from a trailer of portal 2 by creating workshop maps, it could be hint. The other thing was to destroy it, maybe so no aliens comes from the portal to earth.
    The other thing was the Borealis to use against it, the Boreals maybe hosts the last universe portals.
    Xen Advisor, they are from Xen they are owner of it. Just someone asked what is the borealis, I reasearched and found one possible solution.
    "How would you destroy a big ship? I just think you could destroy the Borealis whats inside in. Advisors protect that shit, and they can kill you with physic not only with their tounge, they normaly try to steal information by eating their brain and saving it to their big brain. Found it at graphics (unused animations)"
    It's impossible to find it out whats inside, there was a mod Borealis but they didn't continue it because they even didn't know what they do. And you won't be everytime outside in the antartic, there will be a Combine Plasma Turret shooting at you.

    I know this is really old, but the combine don't travel between dimensions, they travel between universes, the combine didn't have access to xen, because xen is required for local teleportation, which is what the combine want, that's why the combine where hunting the nihalanth and the other xen forces like vortiguants, they wanted to uncover the secrets of local (in universe) teleportation, the combine only have non-local (multiverse) teleportation, which in the half life universe is seemingly easier to discover. The combine want the local teleportation to travel quickly, the combine synths are likely immortal, which his how they conquer universes, by waiting for billions of years to find a planet, but the combine are so immensely old that they have been doing this for an incomprehensible amount of years. but if they got local teleportation, then they could speed up the process, saving them octillions of years of space travel. it is a misconception that the combine invaded earth for its resources, they invaded earth for the teleportation, the portal storms from the black mesa incident attracted their attention because it was a large instance of local teleportation, the resources where only a bonus, if the combine really wanted resources, they could just harness them from asteroids and comets, not only would they get more resources than if they invaded earth, but it would save them the trouble of invading a hostile species like humans, no matter how easy it is for the combine to crush us. the combine did use the portal storms to their advantage though, by going through them to access xen, and then going through another to access earth. that is how they invaded earth without having to wait billions of years to travel there by spacecraft.

    Very interesting, I really liked your theory but there is a slight problem with it. Portal lore does say there is a multiverse but that does not mean it has to be a 'Everett's interpretation of quantum mechanics' type of multiverse. It could be just that there are an infinite amount of linear universes. It does not mess up your theory but does take away from the idea that the g-man's employers know every outcome of every decision.

  • @Eyeling
    @Eyeling 2 года назад

    You confused parallel worlds theory with multiverse theory. multiverse theory states that there are different universes with completely different things going on in them, different planets, different stars, different galaxies. parallel worlds theory states that decisions and actions cause universes to splinter into parallel worlds. both theories conflict with each other too much to coexist.

      +Daniel Samsel If they are the same thing, then it's possible the situation is such that the Combine DO have the G-Man's powers, but to a much much lesser extent, to the point where they can only use it to travel between universes. This would mean that whatever is on the Borealis unlocks the rest of that power, possibly. The stuff they can't do.

    • @eternal7912
      @eternal7912 9 лет назад

      +VG TI I think it could allow them to do both inter-dimensional and local teleportation. Though it is extremely unstable and will likely cause some major problems in Half-Life 3. As to the Combine having the same power as G-man (to a lesser extent) that's debatable. They more have the technology to do it; though it's extremely complicated and requires a lot of power. Meanwhile, G-man has the natural ability to do it without technology. I guess they can both be considered power... they're just two different kinds.

    • @VGTI
      @VGTI  9 лет назад

      Local teleportation IS their weak point after all, something the resistance was researching with Kleiner's teleporter. They were on the right track with Mossman helping them, but things seem to have gone astray, and now they're hunting down the Borealis, an Aperture Science vessel. Aperture specialized in local teleportation. Now you're thinking with portals.
      It's all speculation of course, but once again...it's something only HL3 can answer, and who knows where that is.

    You said that G-man and his employers (I'll refer to them just as G-man) have the power to see the timelines and 'enter' the one which benefits them the most (quoting your words that G-man have a similar power of going through universes, as the one supposedly left on Borealis). I have a little counter-argument against the powers of G-man. Supposedly they chose the best universe, in an infinite number of universes, and this is the one they choose. A universe where Xen, Nihilanth, Vortigaunts, Gordon Freeman all co-exist. And yes, their plans goes rather smoothly at the start. Nihilanth is dead, they have control of the overworld Xen, Combine invade Earth through Xen, Earth is under Combine control, deploy Freeman, his appearance fires up the Rebel Uprising even more and... that's the point where the smoothness of plans falls apart. Either they did not consider Vortigaunts being a threat (and as you stated in the theory, they (G-man) know the destiny of each universe, so it's a little strange), or they don't have such powers/multiverse does not exist.
    A counter-argument on this could be that they can see the destiny of the universe without their interference, so after they enter the universe, they take a role of watchers and guides, so that they wouldn't change the flow of the universe too much. Think about this now, what would have happened if Vortigaunts did not help Alyx and Gordon survive? Both of them are dead from the explosion at the top of the Citadel, so they do not get inside of it again, to restabilize the core, and Citadel gets destroyed half a day earlier.
    Combine were evacuating during that time, let's say at a rate of about 1 advisor pod per two minutes (this is a really rough estimate, I should play episode one again and take note of that), so during the half day that Gordon and Alyx stabilized the core reactor to save their own asses, they saved around 360 Advisors. I can't for the best of me remember, if Episode One was happening early in the morning, or evening, because of this there could be a drastic difference between the advisors that managed to evacuate before Gordon regained consiousness. If it's early in the morning, well, there couldn't have been more than a hundred of advisors that evacuated. If it's the evening, well, it's roughly around four to five hundred.
    The point I am trying to make is that, the most likely plan of G-man was to cause as much damage as they could to the combine, not destroy them. G-man let Combine into Xen knowing (let's say they saw this all along) that they would invade earth, build huge-ass structures and use those structures to cause insane damage, but because Vortigaunts intervened, the plan was foiled and they had to move to something different
    There are tons and tons of things that people could adress this 'theory' on (G-man interacted with loads of people, for example, so they aren't exactly just spectators), and I want to hear you guys out. So try to debunk this the best you can. c:

    • @VGTI
      @VGTI  9 лет назад

      +Zombine50 The Vortigaunt thing has been pointed out, and from the looks of things, it seems that the Vortigaunts have powers that can slip by G-Man's abilities. He can't forsee their actions, for whatever reason, and this is why they got the jump on him when they extracted Gordon and Alyx. Chances are him and his employers are planning on taking countermeasures against the Vortigaunts, having already slipped through them to talk to Alyx in Episode 2.
      G-Man has interacted with people, as many have mentioned him, but it seems to me like people aren't aware of him unless he has a need for them (i.e. unless he actually seeks them out and interacts with them).

    My theory is that the Borealis didn't leave this universe and then come back, but rather, this:
    In the canon Half-Life Universe, the device worked. This led to the Perpetual Testing. However, in another universe, they did something differently, and it failed. This took it to a different universe. This just so happened to be the one we play in.

Mainly I saw how the Borealis, our most powerful weapon, would register as less than a fizzling matchhead as it blew itself apart.

  • @DrewGryffind
    @DrewGryffind 7 лет назад

    I really like your theory, its almost a much more detailed version of my theory on why we dont have a Half Life 3. As we see in Dr. Mossmans message in HL2 Ep: 2. The Borealis is apart of Aperture Laboratories, and also obviously had a part in the Portal experiments we know today as the Portal games. Like you said, seeing as the Borealis went missing after an obvious failed experiment, it had to been teleported into a whole another universe and somehow got back into the Arctics. But thats not entirely my point. We see the Aperture Logo on the side of the Borealis, that tells us who has played Portal, "Hey! That HAS something to do with Aperture!" We also know that before Eli died at the end of Ep: 2 (Spoilers) He told Gordon to make sure the Borealis was destroyed, which we know it wasnt because he didnt like the Portal project, but because he didnt want another Black Mesa incident! So that tells us now, that somewhere along the line, Gordon failed to destroy the Borealis, Why he didnt is not clear though. He couldve died in the process, or maybe, because we've seen such a relationship slowly grow between Gordon and Alyx, that he decided to stay with Alyx and help her get through her fathers death. Because she just wouldnt be able to go on with Gordon after just watching her father die and she couldnt do anything to stop it. So yeah, Gordon failed to destroy the Borealis, which lead into further investigation of the Portal project, which in the end brought us to the games we know now as Portal 1 and Portal 2! So seeing as the Portal games are out and Gordon failed to destroy the Borealis, Valve doesnt have a story to carry on in a 3rd establishment, and if they think up of a brand new stroy, they're going to have an extremely upset fanbase because we've been waiting 12 years now on a very big cliff hanger from Ep: 2 so we're all going to be very upset if they just throw in a completely different story and not continuing the story they have yet to really finish, yet under the circumstances, they actually have, just in a seperate game, with a separate plot, with different characters yet still connected to the Half Life franchise!

  • @creepersandkeyblades69
    @creepersandkeyblades69 9 лет назад

    I think you have the wrong idea about worlds, dimensions, and universes are. Worlds and dimensions are not the same thing. There are four known dimensions but according to string theory there are ten. The four that we can measure are length, height, depth, and time (x, y, z, t). The Combine travel within the three visible dimensions of length, height, and depth, but they can't travel through the fourth dimension. That being said, the other six dimensions involve different universes and from there it's all really confusing.
    So yeah, the multiverse theory is a concept within string theory which deals with the fifth and sixth dimensions. Think of it like coordinates on a six dimensional graph where we're free to move around three dimensions and constantly moving along the fourth dimension. The Combine and Chell from Portal can jump to different points within those three dimensions, but while traveling through time you're able to either move freely through time like how you move through the three dimension or you can jump from one coordinate to another and just continue moving forward constantly from there.
    I don't think I needed to say all that, but I enjoyed explaining. You also might know all of this already. Oh well :P Your videos are awesome anyway.

    • @creepersandkeyblades69
      @creepersandkeyblades69 9 лет назад

      Creepers and Keyblades Oh! And by your theory, the G-man is a being who can move freely within all ten dimensions, or at least the first six.

    • @VGTI
      @VGTI  9 лет назад +1

      Creepers and Keyblades Yes, that's what I meant, but I did not know about that! Thank you.
      The Combine are constrained to the first three. Acquiring the tech on the Borealis would give them access to the fourth, and possibly the fifth and sixth if it's exactly like the G-Man's abilities. If G-Man is a concept such as fate, this is why he can do such things.
      Thanks for your thoughts!

    The multiverse theory has a rather scary side to it. In one timeline, Gordon died in Black Mesa the secound the anti-matter spectrometer (i think thats what it was) started malfunctioning. In another he didn't took the G-Mans offer and died then and in a whole nother timeline he maybe didn't even make it to the transit system and died in a car crash on the way to work.
    Whats so scary about is the thought of this working with the real world.
    In another timeline, i might've decided not to write this comment, or maybe i just smashed my monitor seeing this video for no good reason.
    With timelines anything is possible, really.

    • @VGTI
      @VGTI  10 лет назад

      An infinite number of possibilities, but as far as the G-Man's plans go, only certain timelines can be ideal if he wants to wipe out the Combine. Throwing the multiverse into things can make stuff quite interesting (and sometimes scary) indeed.

    i have a question: how does aperture travel through the multiverse, the borealis maybe?
    the long fall boots are combine tech, did aperture finde the combine before the took over the planet?
    if the borealis can travel through time, is it possible that the G-man employers found the borealis and made a smaller version of it so it can be used on humans? like the g-man?

    • @VGTI
      @VGTI  9 лет назад

      +Julius Klein If this theory is right, then that's what the Borealis can supposedly do (or at least, what's on it).
      The long fall boots aren't Combine tech, but simply an Aperture invention for testing.
      And for that last point, going with the theories I'm sticking with, it's likely they wouldn't need the tech on the Borealis. It can use whatever powers they have, possibly on a smaller scale. I think what they want is for the Resistance to get a hold of it and use it against the Combine. They probably have a plan for dealing with the Resistance afterwards too.

    The destiny explanation for Gman and his employers seems a little too deus ex machina to me. The writing so far in the series is too good for them to employ a cheap device like that. I'd figure that aperture did manage to open a portal within the multiverse, and this attracted the attention of the Gman. The Borealis would have had crew right? If they made the trip and perhaps gained some information about the forces that be, then they would have to be eliminated. How to do that? Dump them in the arctic.
    Perhaps the Combine did make a contract after discovering similar multiverse tech that they back out of, thus your retaliation idea could be accurate. Perhaps because of the combine's advanced technology they have a counter for whatever the employers are using and as such the Gman needs to use alternate means to destroy them, rather than say controlling an adviser (which it appears he can do) to cut the head off the snake on the combine home-world.
    Just my two cents.
