Perfect time for Half-Life Alyx!!
I believe that when the Vorts intervened at the beginning of Ep1 that in turn broke the contract that Gordon had with the G-Man. With that being the case it'd only make sense for the G-Man to look for someone else with similar drives/ambitions to carry out whatever he has set in motion.
And the grief of her father's death has only served to cement that. Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor hell a fury like a woman scorned. ;)
Makes sense! After all, what the Vorts did could be considered breaking the rules, even if it wasn't Gordon who did the breaking ;) And if my theory holds any water, we've seen how the G-Man feels about rule breakers...
Now, with the announcement of Half-Life:Alyx, I hope there still is a narrative of some sort. Rumors have it it's a prequel, but Valve doesn't seem scared of releasing a new half-life game after all this time. Maybe it'll be a thematic continuation, to develop further the character before it goes into half-life 3 level of new content. (Not half-life 3, but a fully playable storyline.)
Looks like the rumors were true; it is indeed a prequel! The idea of a brand new HL game after all these years is exciting. I wonder how it will add to the story? Maybe even as set up for an eventual HL3.

After watching your videos, I have a theory of my own: Gman and Vortigaunts have currently came into temporary agreement together.
Maybe by the end of HL2, Vortigaunts see potential of Gordon. They want him (and Alyx) to save humanity from the Combine as the main goal after how Gordon gather resistance together and brought back hope in City 17 (kind of a throwback when Gman saw potential of Gordon back in HL1), so they took Alyx, and took Gordon off from Gman. That was all its about in Ep1, saving citizens from the explosion in City 17, which is only planned by the Vortigaunts and no Gman involved. Then Ep2 happened, which possibly Gman and Vortigaunts came into agreement, that Gman take Alyx and use her to defeat the Combine, while Vortigaunts take Gordon to save humanity. Combining both goals would ensure ultimate victory for Earth. (Actually, Earth is forever damaged regardless, waiting for HL3 to possibly answer that part.)
Now I am not saying Gman is working for Vortigaunts. We still don't know who Gman is or who he is working for, but as of right now Gman & his employer are competing against Vortigaunts, and for time being they're in stalemate with Gman keeping Alyx and Vortigaunt keeping Gordon.
If Half Life 3 ever comes out I wish Gordon would be fighting real Combine beings. I think at this point we shouldn't fight the same enemies as HL2 & its episodes. I would also guess the hidden war between Gman and Vortigaunt would continue on. Or, HL3 would have entirely new story and opening more questions just as when HL2 came out.
My apologies if it's long or anything I mention is false. My interest with HL was buried until you released a new video. And finally, welcome back!

Perhaps Alyx has always been the Gman's initial Plan B? He said that he saved Alyx despite his employers telling him it was a futile action but he had the feeling she could be a good pawn to posses later in the future. Now that Gordon has been blocked from the Gman's presence since the beginning of Ep1 (with the exception of Ep 2 temporarily as the Vortiguants needed to heal Alyx for a moment) he is no longer the Gman's pawn to have, but rather a pawn to the Vortigaunts who allied with the rest of the Resistance. This is further implied if the player is to die during either of the two episodes; in HL2 a death message may come up written in a very "legal document" fashion, whereas in Ep 1 and 2 the death messages are written in the way the Vortiguants speak english.
Gordon was the best pawn the Gman and his employers had so naturally he was pretty pissed when the Vortigaunts cut off his contact to Gordon, but luckily Alyx is the Ace the Gman has up his sleeve. Alyx has the same motives, has a decent level of combat experience (although not as heavy as Gordon's), and has gotten to the same point as Gordon (by Ep 2 at least). So Alyx would have to be the most perfect fit in the entire universe to fill in the shoes of Gordon, the Gman's original pawn, if the Gman and his employers are bent on carrying out their plans.
Makes sense to me! Every good plan should have a good plan B.

Good theory for when this was released. Now we have Half Life Alyx, doesn’t necessarily mean this is wrong, but it does mean Gman just completely skipped the middle man

Personally I believe that gman saw alyx as the new replacement to what Gordon was for him: a person that can succeed the most difficult challenge (like Gordon did with nihilanth). Now, gman saw the abilities of Gordon back at the black Mesa and making him an offer to help gman's cause. I believe at this part that with the help of Gordon, gman created a new timeline that he saw a possible defeat of the combine and didn't pay any attention to alyx at that time. Only when he sees the vortigaunts rescue alyx from the citadel, realizes that she's something meaningful for his cause. And with what is being said in epistle 3, he manages to take alyx with him and leave Gordon at the borealis. To conclude, I believe that as Gordon's role was to defeat nihilanth and a big part of the combine army, now the main role is given to alyx, so as to defeat the combine once and for all.

Alyx is the second person on Gman's list. Once Gordon (aka the chosen/best one) became quote "unable or UNWILLING" which is a reference to the vortigaunt stopping gman at the begging of episode 2 allowing Gordon to escape gman's pocket dimension - to escape being put in stasis again for god knows how long this time. Once Gordon became unwilling to help Gman and his e-e-e-employers they decided to abduct the second best on in the whole fucking universe - Alyx Vance. So Alyx is simply a replacement for Gordon

Of course G Man was/is controlling Gordon. The man never speaks, nor reacts, for as long as we're holding the controller. He just simply does his job. As a matter of fact Gordon even spots G Man, for the first time, only right after we [he] pick up [takes] the [control]s

Cool theory, there are two fan projects making games based around Epistle 3 though, I feel like those are probably the closest we'll get to an official game.

In about 30 years in the future, the fans will create Half-life 2 Ep3 or HL3 and finish the Half-Life story as well. Possibly even recreate the whole story of Half-Life, maybe even make a movie out of it. A dark grim movie, action adventure, following the characters.. Something similar to Chernobyl series from HBO. Showing how the disaster happened at Black Mesa, how people escaped and what they have encountered.
The reason why Valve didn't make Half-Life 3 was to inspire fans and the people to get into game development and make it themselves. A perfect example who could be the next Valve: Crowbar Collective. We need more developers like these and we would have every Half-Life story or game finished.
