It's worth saying that while you shouldn't buy these collections on Nintendo Switch, you SHOULD buy them on Playstation, Xbox, or PC! The 1.5+2.5 collection was already an incredible package, but the All-In-One Collection throws in 2.8 and KH3 to provide maybe the most bang for your buck of ANY single video game collection on the market right now.
It wouldn't surprise me if Square Enix are actually waiting to put the KH collection on Nintendo's successor on its 25th anniversary in 2027; along with the possible KH4 installment!
Well said
Pc version sucks for 1.5, has trashy crashes
Heck depending on how long the deal for KH games being only on epic store only way to play kh on the go will probably be on the Steam deck that releasing this year
I don't think anyone "should" buy KH3 or play past KH2.
What seriously kills me is the fact that I JUST bought the All-In-One Package collection on PS4, and then they come out on Switch. They had me up until they said cloud version. Yeah, I'd actually like to *play* the game, not press the x button only for it to finally register by the time Kingdom Hearts 4 comes out.
Holy shit, that's me! Well, kind of. There are most steps to mine, and it kinda-sorta went in reverse with a bit of squiggle-swerve.
i bought mine for about 20 usd around the time sora was announced for smash. especially when i heard the word cloud.
playing kh 1.5 now on the ps4 after finally getting out of the crack that was smash online.
(played tlou first) lols.
gonna play tlou 2 after 1.5.. then. kh2.
Be glad you bought that and I did the same too. And that's before the switch ver. Got released. I already know it's going to problematic because of Nintendo. It's a weakass console, very outdated. Ps4 version is alot better. Thing is Sora moves slow on optional boss battles and sometimes he can't move properly. I imagine the cloud version makes it even worse.

I'm actually kind of afraid of this selling well because... well, everything sells well on the switch
but most thing that sell well on the switch are exclusive for the switch or are only avaliable on wiiU and switch.
Not everything sells well on the Switch and the biggest driving factor is Nintendo making things limited time. No one talks about their recent releases anymore, its always the "new" thing. You can't even buy all the Mario Anniversary stuff anymore. Nintendo is such a terrible company.
@@Goremize shut up
@@Goremize You can still buy the anniversary collections. I still see them at places. So I don't know what you're complaining about. Pick and choose your words and emotional responses wisely next time.
@@G.L.999 I think they meant more.... like digitally. Nintendo WANTED 3d allstars to not be buy able at this point. There's just a surplus of physical copies still.

Square Enix:"Heard you loud and clear you want the cloud version right?"
Kingdom Hearts Fans:"That's not what we even said!"
KH fans: why switch no KH until now? in the past Nds,3ds got KH
Square: Ok you want KH in switch?
"Kingdom Hearts melody of memory release"
KH fans: why! this is not RPG but music game
Square: Ok, let we see if KH melody got enough budget and many people like it we will make it remake version
"after several years KH 20th anniversary"
Square: Sorry guys we don't earn enough money and too lazy to remake, but we will release KH cloud version for you all.

KH rich fans: Yes!! who cares i can play it now with my fast internet.

@@Andy-tp9nv I mean if they're then they'd either play the games on pc, ps5 and/ or series X

@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 they could still do the 2 collections though. And if they were to really optimize and downgrade kh3 graphically then they'd be able to get it to run on switch. It would never be the best version but they could've done it. Doing this they should be able to get the game to run better than the ps2 games run through cloud streaming at least.
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 so that should be the only cloud version

THIS!!! I can't believe not as many people are upset by this part alone! Why should I have to pay $90 for these games when I WON'T EVEN OWN THEM??? But this again shows Square doesn't really care about the of the ports after the real bad bugs with both PS3 and PC ports. Leave it to Square though to turn something that should be simple to something needlessly complicated
People would happily buy them on the Switch for that price aslong if you don't need internet
I have it on switch and it's awesome especially with the kh3 one shot kill
It's not that people aren't upset. People wanted this in handheld form. It was released on switch via cloud and that's the closest they got if not using emulation. Those either have the option of purchasing the steam deck, paying for a handheld device $1000+ or wait for a switch port that will happen if Zeus allows it.
If those have the connection to run it, they benefit from it to an extent (network congestions suck)
But at the end of the day, those who wanted it in handheld form have it. They can kick back and relax. Unfortunately it ain't the best way to play.
Technically speaking you don't own them even if you buy the physical disc/cart/etc.
I read through the Guitly Gear Strive license agreement. Despite buying the disc, if I don't play the game the way ARCSys agrees with they could remotely shut down my ability to play the game.
This applies to just about any game over the past two decades apparently. Whole bunch of legal mumbo jumbo in old Nintendo manuals.
@@Tobunari Yeah true even if it went just digital they could shut it down like example 10 years later the only best option is a physical release
The more I read the Square Enix New Year's Letter, the more it read's like a threat XD
I felt like I was on the receiving end of Sora's insane air combos, after seeing the trailer, then seeing the performance, and finally the price for these. 🤢
Which part of that was the building dread leading to a pronounced f-bomb that filled in for Magnet Burst?
@@devonm042690 Man, I hate it when youtube slows down notifications. @@Joe_334 I recommend Legend of Mana on Switch as a Kingdom Hearts substitute. It even has Yoko Shimomura as the composer.
I hate how scummy it is that we pretty much can't even really vote with our wallets on this for what we actually want
Buying the game on other platforms will just tell them that "There's no audience for KH on Nintendo platforms so let's not do that ever again"
Not buying them at all will say the same thing
Buying them will tell them that "Cloud versions are perfectly acceptable" even when they're very much not
It's almost as bad as them calling Neo TWEWY a failure because it didn't sell as well as *FF7 REMAKE*

I’ve waited for 14 years for a new TWEWY. NEO was great, it wasn’t perfect, but I thought it was a worthy sequel to the last game, but looking at how it sold has made me rather disappointed in fans and Square. But on the other hand, looking at how Square has treated Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts has made me hesitant in seeing more. The churning out of so many spin-offs and so-so sequels makes me not want them to make a microtransaction filled sequel to NEO:TWEWY which is incidentally a DDR game because “it fits the brand”. Although, with the TWEWY soundtrack that actually almost sounds fun….
@@Ladywizard it got just as much advertisement as triangle strategy. Hell, Chain of Memories on the GBA was THE FIRST game I could actually play from the series! (Kid me thought it was a reboot on the Gameboy Advance) And then there's 358/2 Days and Re:Coded for the DS, which I also got and loved to bits.
Square Enix really messed up here. It's a huge disappointment. I wish they could've done better with this. 😓
Fantastic arguments all around, this was very well thought out. Makes me really sad because I just picked up the entire series for 30 bucks at Walmart on PS4, but one of my family members bought it on switch because he didn’t have any other system or console. I want to send him this video but I don’t want to make him feel bad for shelling out $71 :/
I bought the whole series, including Days and Recoded, minus KHMom, from eBay for about that price.
IT COSTS $71? Jesus Christ, that should be illegal.
71 dollars? 71 DOLLARS????? I'd do it anyway, cause it is not worth that AT ALL. No one should ever, ever ever ever ever buy this for the Switch
I played the demo for Birth By Sleep and it wasn't that bad. There did seem to be a slight stutter maybe?
But yeah, these should be physical.
71 dollars... On sale. It's actually $90 normally.
It's a shame it doesn't work, cause Kingdom Hearts is a perfect game for the Switch.
...
But yeah, having the physical copy is better anyway. Love your green screen room.
I hear people talk about how the collections have absurd file sizes that would be painful to fit on the Switch's storage or a game card, but that's horseshit because they fit the games on PS3 BLU-RAY DISCS. If those can handle the games, Switch cards can, too. Just separate 1.5 and 2.5 and you're good. You didn't need a cloud version.
Sony owns Blu Ray since 2006, they can manipulate the size at will and lie to media outlets about its max capacity to force them to buy more products, Nintendo hasn't bothered releasing a cartridge above 16GB despite promising it would

To be fair naming a company based on a functional company in one of your games is amazing! It sucks they only had Shinra but saying you work for a fictional organization I just lovr
I mean, there's also the companies from Deus Ex and Remember Me, but that's more of a lateral move rather than an improvement.
Garden was a corporation as well, though it wasn't nearly as famous as Shinra. There are quite a few options across SE's game library.
@@LilyKazami I recommend Legend of Mana on Switch as a Kingdom Hearts substitute. It even has Yoko Shimomura as the composer.
Really thoughtful points here. While I do own a Nintendo Switch, I had no interest in this release to begin with since I already bought the collection on PC last year. Now that I'm seeing feedback on it and whatnot, I'm even more convinced that it's just a waste of time and money.
Does the PC version support the Switch Pro controller?
@@S.K.R.E.Inc. yep! It supports all controllers, PlayStation controls, Xbox controls, Nintendo controls.
Better off buying the Trials of Mana remake, it actually runs on the Switch and is much more reasonably priced for what it is :3
Time to play it in steam deck which would make it really portable! Mostly if u can carry it!
@@sushantheshreztha8777 Screw that complete cop out shit. Either Square stops giving Switch owners the shaft like this or they can just delist the Switch version of Melody of Memories outright and fuck right off!
Besides, only a wimp would be so desperate for a _"Better Switch"_ that they'd stupidly pay a goddamn house mortgage just for a cumbersome new age Game Gear that will have all the same bugbears and caveats of PC gaming except now it'll be even harder to replace the hardware as necessary _(if you can even do so at all)._ Probably won't even play Crysis on max settings...
Adding onto this, the reason they came up with for the Cloud versions, according to an interview, was because of storage space. Fucking storage space! On a system with expandable storage! On a system known for physical releases that have a mandatory download for most of the bloody games or collections! With games that would have to be compressed down to work anyway so they wouldn't be 80GB like other versions! It's absolutely nuts. I think your theory is dead on the money, honestly. I get the convenience sake when it comes to Cloud gaming, but the technology just isn't there yet. We're like a decade behind for a technology like that to catch up and Switch is mainly a portable device where it already defeats its purpose. It's not like Gamepass where you have a paid monthly subscription service and you can install every game from the list on your drive as long as you pay for that service. And selling the complete package on Cloud for a lot higher price compared to the competition is a dick move from Square-Enix. Just outsource the project to a different company and optimize them to run the HD remasters natively. I'd be happy to pay for it.
And yet theirs already people worshipping cloud gaming as the "future."
Dont see anyone praise cloud, stadia crashed and burned.
@@martmine4618 that's why I said the technology isn't there yet. At least not for 10 years from now. Maybe even longer.
Cloud gaming will never catch up due to a little limitation known as "The speed of light". We will never be able to speed this up, so unless your cloud gaming server is hosted in the next town over, your experience is gonna suck
@@cyan_2169 What games strive to exceed to speed of light with their animations?
I wish they just released the original 1.5+2.5 collection on its own from 3. I was prepared to buy this collection a second time at full price until I tested the demo out… horrible seeing the franchise treated this way
If someone « debunked » that video I wouldn’t believe him, this whole thing is clearly sooo Square Enix
Im so glad that i looked it up before buying it. I would gladly pay 100~$ for the full kh collection on switch despite owning it on ps4 but i wasnt sure what cloud version meant. thanks for the video!
My old Windows XP with less than 1 gig of ram could run an old version of the emulator of PCSX2 with KH2FM+ with the partial english patch that released many years ago
it just seems that anything outside of Yoshi-P/FF14 is a fucking travesty with this people
Thank you for reminding me why I love your RUclips channel so much :-) editing and humor were on point, and honestly you’ve inspired a lot of the videos on my own channel. Keep up the great work!
They did Kingdom Hearts on cloud but the Switch can run Nier Automata (no cloud) and KH: Melody of Memory (no cloud too)
Remember watching this channel like 7 years ago! Always made quality content
So basically, the reason why this exists is the EXACT plot of inFAMOUS: Second Son?
"Job Security"
Dude just found your channel and I really love how honest you are with your content.
One could say Sqaure Enix fans are experiencing prolonged Cloud strife.
Another thing I don't see people mention is that you can easily out-stream the install file size in data. Streaming video is very data intensive, and you could easily spend 2-5 times what an install would take you with streaming 1080p video with sound.
You're not factoring in most videos run at 23 FPS with no input from the person watching, Video isn't keeping track of inputs from a third party. The controller. I believe the HD collections also ran at 60fps. so almost triple the Frames being sent, add in inputs to send back along with the data being sent to you. A movie is a one way data stream. Game streaming is two way.
Great video! It was convincing and entertaining all the way through! Your theory at least makes more sense than people blaming it on "lazy developers". Could we please get over that phase already?
Btw 5:47 I see someone's been watching some Tim Rogers...
so upon further testing the cloud version of KH2 is suspected to be the prepatched pc version. audio doesn't play correctly (trinity major drive and magnet at the same time has audio issues) and thunder is like dubstep thunder
I really don't think anyone can beat cloud gaming. When I go on airplanes I always play games among the clouds with a handheld switch or portable console.
Always love how you go one step beyond the current conversation instead of just pointing out the obvious.
Sad fact is that is actually selling well apparently :(
Easy to lie about numbers because somehow literally everything on Earth "Sells well" these days. Unless pure idiots are all buying this cause they are the stupidest people on Earth, its unlikely to sell well.
In Japan, that is. In the US, there are more sales of the SAO games than this junk (which is saying something, cause those flopped hard when Namco released them)
I enjoy the way you write/record these videos. The tone you achieve here is really unique in its wit and snappiness. Good job pal
I think what also plays a role in this is that with a cloud version, releasing a game on future consoles is beyond cheap.
Think about it this way: No need to recompile the game. No need to do post launch bug fixes, the game is running on the exact same hardware in the backend.
Any development cost for making a port would be making software to receive the stream.
This software gets shared between multiple games that also have "cloud versions" and pretty soon you have an entire library of titles that can be ported for no cost, but still charge full price for.
I feel like Square Enix is trying to rediscover the definition of insanity.
Oh way, Jacob's back.
That was a fun history lesson. I migh've heard of Shinra back then but I had long forgotten about it. Interesting perspective
Fantastic video. Solid jokes, cool info, great length can’t wait for more
Bruh, I didn’t even know this existed.
Magitech-nologies actually sounds good.
Not only does the Switch need an adapter for ethernet but its also capped at a download speed of 15 Mbit which is super slow. For comparison: The xbox cloud gaming service recommends you play games with AT LEAST 80 Mbit. There was no way at the beginning of this that it was gonna work fine.
Dear god... Less than a quarter of Xbox minimum, and at a maximum!
Jacob, your my favorite Kingdo Hearts RUclipsr even if your not and its more about square enix but kinda not.. Idk you cool and your content is well done.
I feel like “cloud” versions of games shouldn’t be full price but that just me.
They should be way way cheaper, especially because you aren’t even buying the games themselves, but the right to play them on a server, that’ll stream the video to your Switch, with many many factors that can cause hiccups to downright not letting you play the games at all
Especially considering KH1+2 are 15+ year old games
The main thing that Annoys me is the fact that 1.5 2.5 easily would run on Nintendo switch, and if that was the only one in a non cloud form, i think everyone wouldn’t be nearly as pissed
Also, the reason I only mention 1.5+2.5 working, is because 2.8 has the massive disadvantage of having 0.2 on it, which is basically a tech demo for kh 3, so it can’t work without being a cloud game, which applies to kh3 as well
Would 0.2 _really_ be that bad? From what I hear, it's a very short game, so they could probably get away with cutting out a lot of the graphical charm.
Randomly stumbled upon this video, I like your energy
Enjoyed the chair climbing the building at 2:14 impeccable balance and tbh entertaining af
I’ve heard that cloud versions of games are released on the switch because they actually work very well in Japan where they have better internet infrastructure. Anybody know how true that is?
Could be they just don’t care if it doesn’t really translate overseas.
I saw people saying that it didn't work that great in Japan either; however, it sold extremely well over there. Guess people are just gonna buy anything KH-related...

@@soragranda That’s a shame. I believed it too because I know they were way ahead of us in terms of mobile gaming on cell phones. I thought maybe that relied on having advanced internet as well to download games over Wi-Fi a few years before it got a big push here.
@@McMarioG They have tops speed... There is also the reality that the engines for KH has never ported well off of their primary platform. The ports of KH on ps3 and ps4 were dreadfully broken. And even when the PS4 code was used to drive the Xbox code the Xbox introduced bugs, and then the PC ports took a really long time to get them playable.
So it also possible square didn’t want to pay to port the code to the switch only to have it be broken.
Do you remember PC Chrono Trigger? You know the port that was a copy and paste from the mobile version.

PC Chrono trigger, does _not run on KH's original PS2 engine._ Porting from mobile to PC and vice versa is generally insanely easy. @@alejandro_rodriguez_99 or the crap FF7 and FF8 steam ports. But Square has yet to port Kingdom Hearts (especially 2) without releasing the port with some fairly significant bugs. And I have a Mac. But given that this release looks so disappointing, I'm almost tempted to one of these days just buy a cheap laptop and a computer just to play this on PC. I had no idea. It makes me sad but I know it's going to sell on the Switch, but it would be cool to see it fail so that maybe they'd invest to releasing it properly.
I just think this is just Square being lazy. Look at it like this if it does well they could just do that with other games. Great upload, Jacob. It’s so weird they made the decision to put most of the kh games on the cloud. It absolutely makes sense for kh3 as I do not think the switch can even run that but the earlier ds, and ps2 titles shoudve been very easy to run on the switch if games like devil may cry, resident evil 1, and The Witcher 3 (downgraded I think abit to run on it) can be run on the switch 😅
Great speculation, it's always funny to look back at the ambitious failures in Square's history.
We said we wanted Cloud IN Kingdom Hearts 3, not Kingdom Hearts 3 ON cloud.
Very concise and informative! Hopefully someday we'll get a proper Switch port
As a rabid fan of the series since Chain of Memories for the GBA, I refuse to pay for the cloud version of these games. I tried the demo (not intending to buy) and lemme tell you the constant stuttering, ESPECIALLY during panning shots, actually caused me some eyestrain.

At least he's better than Wada was. But yes, he needs to go.
So wanted to update, I’m 10 hours in,
I have completed quite a few worlds now I just completed Atlanta and I’m about to go to Halloween town. I would say that’s around halfway through the game so overall playing through first day I wasn’t able to play at all server issues wouldn’t connect. The next two days specifically the deep jungle and Alice in Wonderland I would say dorm both times dorn the game I had the notification that big game was being downgraded because of server issues but it didn’t crash. After that going to Aladdin‘s world the whale the little mermaids world I haven’t had a single issue whatsoever so overall maybe besides the first day of the game not working at all I’ve had maybe five or 10 minutes of inconveniencing through the entire game assuming it sticks to that through the next half I can deal with less than half an hour of inconvenience or noticeable graphical drops for that small period of time the game‘s been fantastic so far
I don't know cloud gaming but makes sense lol thank you Jacob

Right to the point, and thank you for reminding people to not buy into this crappy future of cloud gaming. (Buy them anywhere else lol, or #emulate).
If you have the power to emulate just buy the pc ports since they will look way better
I mostly agree with your sentiments on cloud gaming. For the majority of people cloud games simply won't work for any number of reasons, but there's nothing wrong with giving people the option and allowing them to make up their own minds on the matter.
It definitely has a place and is a good option to have. However, as it stands now I'm pretty sure there aren't any real big successes with the medium and it's still rather niche. That being said, to be fair, it is still developing after all so that's par for the course.
For me cloud gaming is a crutch I've been in the hospital for leukemia for several months I've come back home but I now have no home internet because I can't go back to work so now any Cloud games that I now have are completely useless and I just wasted however much money I just spent on them. This is why 90% of my collection is physical
@@nicholsjonte I recommend Legend of Mana on Switch as a Kingdom Hearts substitute. It even has Yoko Shimomura as the composer.
Thanks for the theory, it’s a very good video!
Damn, it’s good to see you back
Nintendo make great games but they’re practises are very anti-consumer and I have no idea why people don’t complain about it more.
You realize this is a Square Enix choice right? I'm 100% sure if Nintendo was told by SE that we want to put actual digital versions of the games on the eshop they would have been fine with that.
@@piersonstone393 I know, I just wanted to complain about Nintendo too. Selling their older games at a premium and whatnot; Square Enix are just as guilty, overcharging FF7 Remake on PC for a half-assed port.
Why are complaining about Nintendo in Square Enix video?
@@kstplt8010 because Sora’s in Smash. It’s all connected man!
@@SaberRexZealot Be sure you complain about Sony and Microsoft too. Otherwise, it makes you look and seem biased.
I will never support this bullshit. I would have bought a physical or digital copy day 1. I will never ever buy a game thats being streamed
Even the ezio collection fixes the issues square had
Wow, sounds like some real…cloud strife
And then a lot of folks had error problems on launch day smh.
I will be interested to see how the numbers shake out after that misstep but like Jacob said it will probably sell like crazy.
I for one feel pretty luck with how my exspriance worked out. I was crusing the e-store after the nintindo direct (I didn't watch and hardly ever do for those kind of events) and saw that they were on sale for pre-order and would release the next day. KH3+re-mind was $40 so I figured whey not, had no idea what cloud gaming was at the time. Didn't realise the really good deal was the all in one collection at the time but that is neither here nor there at this point. the next day I tried to boot up and was met with the error and upon a quick Google search I found out a lot of folks were dealing with this and allegedly there was a patch coming, this is also when I found out what cloud gaming is (thanks Reddit) so I connected to Nintendo. I would have actually waited for a patch had it not been for the cloud thing but that whole system felt off to me. I don't want to have to have an internet connection to play a one player game! I feel like I got off lucky that I manged to get a full refund when I told them I was unable to play the game, didn't mention my thoughts on cloud gaming though. I kinda wish I had because I feel like they might listen a bit more if the complaint costs them sales. Still I gotta wonder how many complaints they were getting at that time about the error, yikes!
I didn't even get past the title screen lol
I'm with Plusnet though so I'm really not surprised 😭🤣
Good news from the future
They fixed it
I bought it the other day I’ve been playing kh1 blind aside from an occasional minor cutscene lag the gameplay and game has been really smooth and great
Now yes but in other countries that's not USA it's very slow even though the internet is very good
"Strife Studios" writes itself
You Are My New Favorite Game Reviewer, The Sarcasm You Bring To The Table Is Amazing 😂
It also stands to reason that development is fairly cheap and easy. Slight retool of interface UI for switch specific details and the game that already ran on your big computer server is now running on switch for the cost of swapping out button graphics.
I'm just waiting for the whole collection to be on Steam and if it works for Steam Deck, this solution of "On the go" would be solved.
I'm pretty sure you can use Heroic Launcher to get them on the Steam Deck. Can't confirm how effective it is, though.
i see you’ve gone to the tim rogers school of sound effects
“New forms of excitement”!?!?😹😹😹😹
5:49 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Oled dock has an Ethernet port and you can connect to a phones 5G on the go
DAYUM! Looks like Square's REALLY throwing for content, just on such a high level, none of us could've possibly imagined...
Good video. Though I really wish to know the music that was used in it. Particularly the song that starts around the 1:48 mark.
