I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you are making actual lateral comparisons. This thing where content creators are comparing it to cameras 5x-10x the price, and in an entirely different category, just so they can bash the Action 5 Pro is absolutely baffling. Thank you for what you do.
The 8k on AcePro is quite good, I barely use the other modes on this camera, also the photo quality is better than Hero13 which I just bought it and tested a little bit.
@@florinflorian1849 so you guys are shooting 8K mainly to down sample it so it looks clearer? I don't even have an action cam so I have a lot of questions. I do shoot occasional 4K clips and the only reason I do so is because they look spectacularly good on 1080p reels. (I'm not a RUclipsr so I don't have a need to publish in 4k)
@simonmaduxx6777 It looks better on a larger screen, on a phone display the the difference between Full HD and 4K is not so obvious, but keep in mind that other variables are important, senzor and pixel size, bit depth, the quality of the lens. Regarding to editing the 8k footage from AcePro is managable for medium equipped PC. I didn't notice any hardware slowdown.
Great comparison again but am looking forward to what Insta360 does with the Ace Pro 2 soon I hope. In this video comparison besides all the points you mentioned Tamara, one thing I can't un-see is how your face is not quite in focus with the Ace Pro even in good light.
I have an Action 4 and Ace Pro. I find the close focussing of the Ace Pro to be quite bad, and have to hold it much further away than I would like. In your video I did prefer the Ace Pro footage. I certainly dont see any need to rush out and buy the Action 5. Another point is that both cameras are supposed to be waterproof, however there are so many reports of the Ace Pro letting in water and Insta360 do not accept water damage under warranty. I have no issues or worries submerging my Action 4.
Thank you Tamara. I’m finding the Action 5 a bit underwhelming. I’ve returned to my Action 4 until any updates appear for the 5. I think the HDR is overdone on the Action and wish that there was something to turn it off.
you are right about the HDR look to the sky and halos around objects on the 5 Pro, but the D-Log M on that camera has no such issues and when overlaid with the simple LUT from DJI (which can now be done in the MIMO app, or of course in the video editor of your choice) the colors are fantastic and natural with none of the issues the normal mode shows. Basically turn NR to -2, the texture (used to be called sharpness) to -2 and shoot in D-Log M and I feel the results are nearly always superior to what I was getting from my Action 4.
I have been watching tons and tons of videos comparing both cameras before I come to your video and i STILL cannot decide which to get. But, your very first section of unbias comparison, i was like "i fell in love with camera 2" and the moment you revealed which is which, you makes me add to cart right away. Thank you for the great video.
One of the best comparisons I've seen. But you've forgotten an important detail about the Ace Pro, the Clarity Zoom, which can be an interesting resource in travel videos. On the other hand, it is interesting to know that the new Ace Pro 2 will be released in early October, according to confirmed rumors. Even the image of the new camera has already been leaked. I'm almost decided on the Ace Pro to replace my old GoPro 7 black but first I'll wait for the Ace Pro 2 to see if it interests me and in case of a possible price drop for the Ace Pro 1. Sorry, one more thing I forgot. The 5 Pro is receiving a lot of complaints about the maximum bitrate in 4K, which doesn't reach 60.
@@MrJafar YES! the ace pro is such a great camera full of unique features but it can't focus at vlogging distances and so it immediately loses this race as Tamara is out of focus in every single shot.
Thanks for this comparison! I have the OA4 and one of the things I love about it is the way it captures the details in the sky. It's just so realistic! From what I can see, the OA5 pro is a real let down in that regard, at least for now.
I think for me I preferred the look of camera 1. You really have me so amazed by these cameras. I absolutely love everything you’ve shown us. Your footage is always impeccable. The clarity you achieve is really amazing.
What I find difficult with these comparisons between Ace Pro, DJI Action 5 and 4, of which there are really a lot since the release of the Action 5, is the fact that I always pick a different camera as "my best" from different RUclipsrs. The Action 5 in particular always looks different in different comparisons. I don't understand it. And it's not because of the weather, sunshine, dark clouds or anything like that. Even where the weather scenarios are comparable, I feel the same way. The comparisons between different RUclipsrs are not consistent.

I have the Ace Pro and the Osmo Action 4, I definitely prefer my Action 4 and I did originally say I wouldn't get the Action 5 but now, I think I might upgrade soon.
@@ReevyMotovlogs people also forget that it depends on what you're using these for. Ace pro is useless for more action focussed, rugged and 4 season weather. Mic 2 directly connecting to action 5 pro is huge for people that use it for these needs. I'm sure ace 2 will be amazing and best camera for straight forward or backwards blogging. Built in mic will be the best but again only when you're close to the camera. A lot of people use separate mics for these cameras anyways.
In your video, I definitely prefer the Action 5, but I've seen others where I prefer the Ace Pro. Definitely holding off for the Ace Pro 2, even if it's November which marks its 1-year anniversary.
Good review. It seems that the Ace Pro 2 is likely going to be the new king. I think the Mic 2 audio isn't terrible on the Ave Pro, but obviously much better on the Action 5. Hand gestures on the Ave Pro work really well, as opposed to voice commands on the Action 5 which only work some of the time.
I have the Action 5 and can't get Take a Photo to work at all. Take a video does usually. Video quality of the Action 5 is too soft for my taste but I do POV not talking head.
it does not. the new 5 Pro sensor has a high MP just like the Ace Pro so I was hoping if not 8K it would at least leverage it for a true 4K 2x punch in ("clarity zoom" on Ace Pro) but they did not offer it.
The OA5 looks a little bit muddy in the normal profile. Less colorful and less bright. The Ace Pro looks better. Don’t know, but also the OA4 has the better image quality.
Great video. Which is why people need to remember to think about what you use your camera for when it comes to which one to buy. I have the ace pro and now action 5 pro. Im sure the ace pro 2 will have amazing insane specs, But for many of us action camera users, Using a wireless mic is very much needed. The dji mic 2 connecting directly to action 5 is a game changer and does not sound good enough for youtube with the gopro or ace. Now can use a wireless mic with out worry of having the battery door open and exposed to weather. That alone will be a selling point for many over the higher ace pro 2 specs. I wish insta would create their own mic version so they can have that. Because some of the other features this camera has and will have
Great comparison between the DJI Action 5 Pro and Insta360 Ace Pro! Your in-depth analysis of features, video quality, and audio performance is super helpful. I'm particularly interested in the low-light comparison and the ability to pause and resume recordings. Thanks for taking the time to share your insights!
Just to let you all know that DJI are having problems connecting to android again. And when you first started the night comparison the A5 was glitchy for a few seconds imo. But I really do love watching you vlogs thank you ❤
I used a GoPro for 10 years and just bough the Osmo 5 Pro. I am so incredibly disappointed with the picture quality of the Action 5, compared to GoPro. I'm worried a bitrate update won't fix some of the issues I'm seeing, so I'm holding off to blind-buy the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 when it launches on Oct 1. Hoping for the best!
Great review, Tamara, thank you. I have an Insta X4 and want to supplement it with fixed action cam in the coming months and this review is really honest and easy to digest. First side-by-side comparisons have the Action 5 looking a little more crisp in the background detail but apart from that there's not a lot between them and both are perfectly acceptable for vlogging.
They both seem like great action/vlogging cameras. And if were looking at them as mostly vlogging cameras, I'd have to give the edge to Action 5 Pro for its superior audio quality when working with wireless mic. After all, the most important thing for a vlogger is good clean simple audio recording. Great comparison, thanks for sharing.
For me, I think weak point of Ace pro is microphone. I use boya link and DJI mic2 for ace pro, but sound still very low and not clear. But DJI mic2 use with Pocket 3 is very smooth voice. I hope Insta will release new firmware upgrade microphone system.
The one thing we know for sure is that GoPro is no longer in the game even with the Hero 13 Black. Now that that is out of the way - Thanks for making this video. I have the Ace Pro and am almost totally happy with it, and see no reason to change that after the release of the Action 5 Pro. Both of these cameras are excellent action cameras, and you can't go wrong with either choice. But for me the Ace Pro has the edge because of the similarity of video and audio quality together with the flip up screen and the gesture control. It is now my sole travel camera. The down-side of the Ace Pro is size / weight - for an action camera. Even battery life (compared to the Action 5 Pro, as you have shown) is not a problem for me. I also liked the wider dynamic range I saw in the "Camera 1" vs "Camera 2" challenge, and I picked Camera 1 as the Ace Pro right off the bat. I also preferred how it rendered your skin tones better (not that the Action 5 Pro did a bad job). I saw your video of low light clips comparisons and thought that the Action 5 Pro footage was slightly brighter, but both were very good and clean. Of course one can't pixel-peep on a 13" laptop ... It all comes down to one's use case. I use mine for general travel videos and photos but when it comes to action I motovlog with it mounted on my helmet. That can happen day or night and in the daytime heat of the Texas sun as well. I need something that is good and is reliable. I have a GoPro Hero 11 Black that locked up on me (needing a battery pull reboot) *the very first time* I used the brand-new camera for a video that wasn't just playing with it! That was it for me - GoPro is dead to me, not to mention the dumb mounting system, which they have only now resolved with the Action 5 Pro. Anyway, this comment is not intended to be about GoPro. One point to note is that the Ace Pro 2 is coming out in early October and I am sure that it will be further improved over the Ace Pro, and should widen the gap over the Action 5 Pro in my books.
HI, just wanted to confirm if the hollyland USB C receiver works when you use the insta360 ace pro mic adapter like you show on the video? Great vid by the way!
Thanks a lot for your work. Please what about still images? Which is better for photos? I use a lot that feature but osmo pocket 3 is not very good at that. Thank you in advance
I can could identify the Ace because when you vlog things close to it (you) are soft and slightly out of focus. 0:58 . I only noticed after you pointed out how the clouds are not as white with the Action 5. I assume it bring down the highlights to prevent clipping.
Great video. In the end I think a lot of it is relative to preference. We have both & while both are great cameras, the main reason justifying getting the Action 5 for us was really the D-Log to match up easier with other cameras. Really wish Insta would have integrated a Log profile, I think it would have really helped it advantages last even longer.
Insta Ace pro is the winner. This is the best comparison video regarding these two camera, your fotages are very informative and very precise through which we can get a clear idea about the things.
Thanks for trying to remain unbiased. If someone displayed actual output from 2 cameras, such as what you did, and based on that footage alone, I decided that the action 5 looks better, then I would be lying! Great information-well done! I not only think that the ace pro is a better camera, but its like comparing a car with standard equipment to a fully loaded version. The ace pro is loaded with lots of usable features, as well as great image quality. Hopefully DJI fixes their camera with firmware because it does artificial things to the facial features!
Tamara I have a specific question on the Action 5. When shooting in 120 or 240 FPS, can you frame advance 1 frame at a time during playback on the camera? So in other words if you have a 1 second clip there should be 120 frames in that 1 sec clip. Can frame advance through them 1 at a time to analyze the video? Thank you.
Thank u for your video dear Tamara, I noticed you put the receiver of Hollyland mic in the DJI 5, I was worried I had to buy the adapter but there's no need, thank u again 🤗
Thanks so much for these videos, glad I found your channel. I'm going away from Gopro at last and this really helped. The Action 5 had a more natural look and not as 'forced' as the ace pro, the lens was more accurate to the shape of the face unlike the ace which looked stretched a bit (going by comparison to your main cam!). Shame about the clouds tho 👍
As a vlogging camera the Ace Pro still has consistently softer focus on the person in all your images, you simply aren't as sharp and really hurts the Ace Pro when everything else is great about it... I think it has a more natural look to the sky, does slightly better in low light, and has a bunch of nice to have features like the pause/start recording, delete recordings quickly, timed capture, starlapse modes and more. The Insta360 Ace Pro really isn't the winner here because of the soft focus at close distances but perhaps the Ace Pro 2 coming in the next week or so will address that?
Thanks for this comparison, with regards to lowlight, i’d rather use my own lowlight custom settings than use the super night mode. Yeah, it’s a cool added feature, but it seems like it’s overly brightened and kinda looks mushy because of the high iso.. and maybe because of the low bitrate i guess?! For sure dji will have it fixed in the next firmware updates.
Btw for the people who either want camera’s for vlogging, or action, Dji action 5 pro - good quality, light weight, small, less expensive, better for action sports Ace pro 2 - best quality, a bit heavier, a bit bigger, more expensive, more features, better for vlogging
Are you sure that you can connect the HollyLand M2 to the Insta 360 via the USB-C adapter? I have this setup and it does not work unless I wire it up with the M2 receiver. Thoughts???
But can you tell me or make a video if there’s a real quality difference between normal vs dlogm at lowlight throw in supernight mode as well. I have seen some footage using the dlog m which looks phenomenal but i do want to see comparisons and what happens to the jitters due to stabilisation at night.
Thank you kindly for your tedious review.. Very much appreciative.. I own an Ace Pro, and seeing this video made me further realize how great of investment I made a year ago. For 1, the advance technology it has over the new updated action camera. And the hand gestures feature is so under appreciated.. You have no idea when you’re vacationing and you risk trusting someone to take a photo with your cellphone. My wife and I take great pics, with the hand gesture feature, though you flexibility to use voice and or hand gesture if the your surroundings are too loud, is awesome as oppose to bothering someone to take a photo memory for us😃😃
Camera 1 has more brightness and saturation. I say that’s Insta. The sky looks a little bit overexposed with Camera 1, but it also looks clearer. You can see the clouds with Insta. I prefer Camera 1 for overall video and for many extra features. Night footage looks better on Action 5. I have Osmo Action 5 and I also think Action 5 is the better deal. But if you don’t do a lot of night filming, go with Insta 360.
the problem is Camera 1 has her out of focus in every single shot because Ace Pro can't focus close up. I have heard about subtle changes in the lens and FOV of the Ace Pro 2 so maybe that will be addressed in the upcoming launch because much of the rest of the features of Ace Pro are excellent.
I heard from leaks Ace pro 2 releasing in This month (oct) not sure though, so buyers can do some final Ace pro2 vs OA5pro comparison before making final decision.
It's interesting that the Action 5 Pro basically caught up to the Ace Pro, but the Ace Pro 2 is coming out very soon. I'm guessing that the Ace Pro 2 is by far better.
Excellent review as always. I think it's a wash between these two, now the real test will be against the ace pro2 when it comes out. Personally, I like the front screen of the osmo a5p. As a novice blogger, I like using my gimbal with my ace pro but the screen of the ace pro gets covered up when using the gimbal. Is it a deal breaker...no, but just an observation. Just a thought, but a flip up DUAL SCREEN would be awesome! I will lean towards the osmo a5p mainly because of the battery life and the dji mic2compatibility, but if the ace pro2 has a similar battery, then it'll be a tougher decision. Knowing myself, I know I'll get both! Lol. I've been seeing that the osmo a5p has a lower bitrate than the osmo4. Can you speak to that? TIA.
Battery runtime of the action 5 is very high because they lowerd the bitrate, and it causes motion artifacts. The Ace pro makes you much more beautiful.
They used same sensors (also same size) in ace pro and dji action 4 but in different ways. Now with action 5pro they use same sensor as ace pro with same 4 nm chip. It is good that dji is lighter.

The clouds in the sky with the Action 5 Pro are a blur while with the Insta 360 Ace Pro they're detailed. @5:56
I know it wouldn’t make it as portable. But how does the ace pro sound if you use the receiver for the DJImic 2
Thank you.
Great video! I’m waiting to see what the Ace Pro 2 will offer.
Great comparison! So helpful as always!
Nice vid, can’t wait to see the ace pro 2 comparisons
Thanks for this comparison, with regards to lowlight, i’d rather use my own lowlight custom settings than use the super night mode. Yeah, it’s a cool added feature, but it seems like it’s overly brightened and kinda looks mushy because of the high iso.. and maybe because of the low bitrate i guess?! For sure dji will have it fixed in the next firmware updates.
I do think that I prefer the Action 5 after seeing your comparison 🙌👍🏻
Btw for the people who either want camera’s for vlogging, or action,
Dji action 5 pro - good quality, light weight, small, less expensive, better for action sports
Ace pro 2 - best quality, a bit heavier, a bit bigger, more expensive, more features, better for vlogging
Are you sure that you can connect the HollyLand M2 to the Insta 360 via the USB-C adapter? I have this setup and it does not work unless I wire it up with the M2 receiver. Thoughts???
Does the Ace Pro allow you to mark/highlight points in the recording like the DJI does?
3:11 ace pro here has more details the clouds
I'm waiting for DJI to fix their low bitrate issue before I pull the trigger.
Ace pro 2 is also on the way
Same thoughts
The Insta beats it hands down in this comparison 😮
Hello. What city are you filming in? Greetings from Russia and many thanks for the tests
Love how detailed this video is, well done.
Lovely hair you there and you are beautiful.
Cheers
What is this ? Mic working mic not working ? I wil stay with iphone
But can you tell me or make a video if there’s a real quality difference between normal vs dlogm at lowlight throw in supernight mode as well. I have seen some footage using the dlog m which looks phenomenal but i do want to see comparisons and what happens to the jitters due to stabilisation at night.
What were your sharpnes and noise reduction settings?
Thank you kindly for your tedious review.. Very much appreciative.. I own an Ace Pro, and seeing this video made me further realize how great of investment I made a year ago. For 1, the advance technology it has over the new updated action camera. And the hand gestures feature is so under appreciated.. You have no idea when you’re vacationing and you risk trusting someone to take a photo with your cellphone. My wife and I take great pics, with the hand gesture feature, though you flexibility to use voice and or hand gesture if the your surroundings are too loud, is awesome as oppose to bothering someone to take a photo memory for us😃😃
What tripod stick thing is that for the DJI?
The ace pro anti jitter just cranks the shutter speed which you can do on the action 5, the jitter will vanish. 1/240 / 30 FPS.
@@canyonblue737-8 I watched more videos and I changed my mind about Ace Pro. It doesn’t have d-log and 10-bit.
Action 5 wins for me.
Bundle of thanks ☺❤
❤ from GB
What’s the main camera used for this shoot? Looks really good too!!😁
Great job!🙌😊
Thanks! Filmed on the Sony A7s III.
@@TamaraGabrielUK awesome camera! Thanks for the reply and wishing you an awesome day!😊
I heard from leaks Ace pro 2 releasing in This month (oct) not sure though, so buyers can do some final Ace pro2 vs OA5pro comparison before making final decision.
I likes the brightness From the 1 Camera mor but the 2 Camera was more colorful so i would vote for 2
It's interesting that the Action 5 Pro basically caught up to the Ace Pro, but the Ace Pro 2 is coming out very soon. I'm guessing that the Ace Pro 2 is by far better.
What's your main camera that you used when talking sitting on the bench?
Sony A7s III, shot in Slog3, filmed with the Sony 16-35mm F/2.8 GM with Freewell VND/Mist.
TIA.
Hello tamara..
Did you record this video using the pocket 3 or another camera ? 😊
Hey! I shot it on the Sony A7s III.
@@TamaraGabrielUK thank you tamara for answering my question :)
Amazing video and I been waits for the vlog
Battery runtime of the action 5 is very high because they lowerd the bitrate, and it causes motion artifacts. The Ace pro makes you much more beautiful.
Can you do a best setting video for the Dji 5 ? When I take a photo it doesn’t look really good :(
Yeah, I’ll share a video soon. Maybe after the firmware update.
Great video!
Camera 2 looks like more dynamic range and overall better, but it's not a huge difference between them.
You forgot to mention 47 gig internal 🤔
They used same sensors (also same size) in ace pro and dji action 4 but in different ways. Now with action 5pro they use same sensor as ace pro with same 4 nm chip. It is good that dji is lighter.
Hi! Can you data transfer or use a wireless mic receiver via TypeC port of the DJI Charger Handle?
Amazing video as always!
Great review Love it
Getting Action 5 tonight!
@BestToWonder I was stoked when I got yesterday...you'll be so happy. Did you get any extra accessories for yours?
Can you show some hdr samples
I wait for this
First for real, first time. Great video.
Waiting for the AP2 review.
Ace Pro video quality is much better.
Camera test 1 & 2 in the beginning… Camera 2 actually shows blue sky where camera 1 is overexposed and it just white. So camera 2 is better imo
Insta 360 Ace Pro 👍🔥
In low light scenes, the action 5 looks cleaner in normal mode. Ace pro doesn't have 10 bit colour profile.
All my videos on youtube shot by iphone
DJI has officially promised a higher bitrate option. This will make looking for applicable reviews confusing once it’s out.
I don't understand how DJI always falls behind on the sky 🤯 . Skies are always more detailed and have more dynamic ranges on other action cams.
