I just love seeing them embrace coasters as the main attraction. Remember when Universal was the park where you end up looking at screens in every ride? Velocicoaster was a turning point for sure

Celestial Park being "boring" has a point that may indicate something about Universals long-term plans for the park. Constellations are timeless folklore and can't be patented, they chose this theming for that reason. At least as far as IP is concerned they should NEVER have to re-work the theming in the hub-world.
All the portal worlds are connected to IPs...and the layout means they are easy to change. If at any point Train Your Dragon has a dip in popularity or Universal loses their HP license they can close those portals while they re-work those sections to be themed to other more popular or owned IPs.
The park is literally being designed semi-modularly to allow for the hub-world to remain untouched and allow consistent access to all the sections while others are rebuilt or re-themed.
I wonder what their plans are for this, and if we'll see more rapid re-theming than we do in other parks. It'd be cool to see a world rotated every few years so there's always something new and more chance they're going to cover your favorite IP at some point in your lifetime.

Galaxy’s Edge with Rise of the Resistance is extremely immersive (like Harry Potter), Flight of Passage in Pandora is the best 3D simulator ever made, Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind with the backwards launch is best indoor coaster ever made, remy’s ratatouille adventure in Epcot, Tron with its insane takeoff feeling, and more!!! Disney used to be like hey we have this new idea for a ride let’s develop or find a brand new ride system .Heck Disney had the perfect ride system the omnimover it’s under used and it eats up a tone of people .Handles capacity amazingly well

You think so? The last MAJOR expansion at Universal Studios Florida was Diagon Alley which opened ten years ago (2014). The Fear Factor theater sits empty. The Toon Lagoon theater at Islands of Adventure sits empty. Lost Continent closed with no announcement about a replacement. In fact, there are no new attractions under construction or even announced at either of Universal Orlando's existing parks. And you're claiming that it's Disney that "hasn't innovated in years"? I see.
The dark universe manor ride will use an updated kooka arm system like forbidden journey but it rumored to have significantly more physical sets with screens only acting as accent pieces. If Universal crushes this ride, I think it could be the best in the park.
Definitely the one I'm most hyped for. But also the new HP ride looks massive and we have no clue what that ride is gonna be either.
Hopefully it WILL so Disney realizes they have to innovate again with some competition

@@conormoore7038OP is not the one with the memory of a goldfish here. Do you remember why Pandora and Galaxy's Edge exist? It's because Universal introduced competition with Harry Potter. If anything, those are perfect examples of why Disney does need to be further pressured with more competition.
I agree but also I’m so thankful we have Tron, Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind (The best indoor coaster in the world), Avatar FOP, remy’s ratatouille, galaxy’s edge, and everything else.
Epic Universe represents not the point Universal overtakes Disney, but the critical turning point where Universal starts down that path to do so in 10-15 years.
Universal currently is like Disney in the early Eisner era. A very expansion heavy period where no expense is spared. When Disney added 2 more parks to Orlando, 2 water parks, many hotel resorts, and iconic rides like the OG Splash Mountain & Tower of terror.
Universal is aggressively growing like that period. Epic Universe will be the best park in Orlando and turn Universal into a week long destination. On top of that, they are creating mini parks focused around young children (Legoland like parks), adult entertainment experiences like the year round HHN in Vegas, And potential new (or acquired) parks the UK, Spain, and S. Korea.
Disney meanwhile is in a holding phase. Their parks make more than Universal, but most of that profit is funneled away from the parks, and into unprofitable divisions.
Splash Mountain's retheme represents modern Disney well. The OG Splash mountain was a spare no expense ride, a log flume that cost nearly $200mil to build (in the 80s), with scores of animatronics. The retheme is a very budgeted endeavor that cuts the number of animatronics to 1/3rd of what they used to be while completely reusing the aging foundation.
Modern Disney wouldn't build a new Spalsh Mountain, but modern Universal would.

Those flat rides in the HTTYD land are elite in my opinion. I experienced one for my first time at Lost Island last summer and once you know how to flap the wings you can spin continuously
I already told the wife and kid, I REFUSE my first walk into Dark Universe to be until nightfall. Then another hour. I want it dark.
The ride track is fabricated by Peterson but the ride’s manufacturer is believed to be Setpoint, which was recently acquired by JR Automation, which is part of the Hitachi group.
Setpoint is notable for vertical track on many of their rides and the steel fabricator the coaster was recorded being tested at was a 10 minute drive away from their headquarters.

The Donkey Kong minecart coaster is allegedly manufactured by Setpoint. Also, there is one opening at Universal Studios Japan this year.
There's really no stopping Universal at this point. It took Disney forever to put up Tron, which many people find underwhelming. Since then, Disney has done nothing to prepare for the entire park that Universal has been openly constructing for years.
People are always focusing on Tron when Cosmic Rewind is superior and one of the best coasters currently in Orlando.

The last time I went to Orlando (2016 I believe) I didn't bother with Disney.
I'd been twice before, but the last time I had went it was only for one day, rather than a 50/50 split of Universal and Disney over a week.
There is just nothing at Disney right now that I can't get at Universal in a better way. Theming, experience, queues etc was always better at Universal for me.
I plan to go to Universal when it opens up next year and I've not been interested in Disney for years. Especially with how expensive it's become without adding anything making it worth the additional costs. I've even recommended to friends that if they're going to Orlando that Universal is better in most cases than Disney.
With these expansions, combined with the issues Disney are facing in Florida right now, the two are no longer competitors like they used to be. Universal is just dominating right now.

No, Comcast's parks are not "dominating right now". They are actually offering deep discounts on tickets because attendance is lagging. Their last financial reports indicate park revenue is flat. Thankfully USF is adding new entertainment this summer.
i might be in the minority of people most excited for the httyd land, but this expansion is probably gonna make a much bigger difference than i realize. the days of universal being a 1-2 day trip being a thing of the future is gonna be great

Dragon is also home to one of the best stage shows ever created (it's a copy of Shanghai's) complete with a full sized Toothless flying over the audience
I’m a big Disney fan and I can agree that Disney will have some competition with this park. I don’t think it will overthrow it, but hopefully Disney will add some more coasters after this park opens since their newest rides are roller coasters.

I’d like to add in from an infrastructure point of view, the future Epic Universe train station connecting to the airport will change the game down there. I believe SeaWorld also said they will buy into the train as well, which would be great because I still love those parks.

Didn’t we say it was the “end of Disney” when universal announced the Harry Potter land? I doubt it will kill Disney and come 7-8 years Disney will fire back with something just as good.
Disney has been on top for too long, people are over the painful mediocrity that’s only gotten more glaringly obvious over the past half decade or so.
Hopefully this will put more pressure on Disney to lower prices, if nothing else. They’ve been getting pretty greedy with their park fees lately, and Universal can really hit them where it hurts by undercutting them on ticket prices.

What's really deadly about this for Disney is the fact that they're bringing out Epic Universe right around the time that Disney is going through a clear creative and investment slump AND people are getting really vocal about how they're fed up with Disney's worst aspects (price, reservations, Genie+, etc.) at the same time. And to make things worse, Disney doesn't even seem to be trying to fight back. They must've missed the meme on having to fight to stay on top when substantial competition comes.
So yeah, I think it's clear that Universal is going to take a huge chunk out of the Orlando pie. I don't think Universal overtaking Disney in attendance in the area is out of the question.
I think they assume visitors will still come to "Disney" no matter what, but they are discounting the nostaligia motivation. As I understand it many in the US grew up going to Disney so then they take their kids and so on and it becomes a generational tradition. For Disney to ignore that fact that current young parents may decide its cheaper to take their kids down the road and perhaps just do a side trip to the mouse means the next generation will see Universal as the nostaligic traditional trip and Disney as the "add on" and that is a bad move for the future. Good will and history with people is a solid advantage for any commercial company but needs to be maintained and once lost is incredible difficult to recapture.
Plus Disney’s recent films just aren’t that good and have been box office disasters.

I can say that my family (and most that I knew) would go to Disney for maybe a week and then maybe go to Universal for a day or two as a plus. And the whole intergenerational thing plays a huge part into it, but it’s losing momentum with how bad the park has been recently.
Honestly universal has a better fastpass system. If they have seamless transportation I would easily choose it over Disney. Especially considering there's nothing new out of Disney lately.

The Monsters: Unchained ride is confirmed as a Kuka robotics arm ride like forbidden journey. Difference is that it won’t be covered to prevent you from seeing all around, and will use far more practical effects and animatronics than forbidden journey, with a limited number of screens and no 3D glasses!

The CP will be open to the non ticket holding public. Like City Walk. At each portal they use facial recognition (if the guest allows it) to admit them into that land. I haven't heard this, but theoretically they could sell a ticket just to Nintendo or Potted Harry World...

I’ve heard that the ministry of magic ride is using the same system as spiderman. But if you look at the showbuilding, it’s absolutely MASSIVE. Based on the Jurassic world adventure ride, it Makes me wonder if they are going to go crazy with animatronics and I think the sets are going to massive; an screens will only be used when other methods are not possible. They have teased it to be something truly next level, potentially the leading attraction? I think they are just not trying to say much about it right now but it sounds like it’s going to be something special, and I’m most excited for that even though I’m not a Harry Potter fan.
I think Universal has many more years to go before they are the most popular chain (assuming you mean most attended) Universal just has half as many parks. Maybe someday, but I doubt it'll be epic that does it.
Now if you mean mostly highly regarded, Epic might well do that.
Idk I'm pretty sure the 2022 numbers showed that Universal passed Epcot and Animal Kingdom. I'm not completely sure about Hollywood studios. However, Magic Kingdom was in 1st in terms of attendance. Right now Disney is getting a lot of attendance but Universal keeps catching up and getting more attendance. Whether or not Epic will allow Universal to get higher attendance than Disney I'm not sure. But I do know that it will get their attendance even closer to Disney's

I think you are completely correct that Universal is clearly dumping insane money into growing right now. They are also doing a lot of things very right and very well. The problem is I have to disagree with you end statement that you are sure the company will continue to invest in their parks and maintain the quality they initially deliver. I know that sounds cynical but look at disney and every other company. The motto is sell high hopes and deliver the bare minimum.

When I went to Orlando in 2020, I couldn’t get on Hagrids, was still afraid of Hulk, and Velocicoaster wasn’t open yet. However, Universal was still infinitely better than Disney. Hence why we only spent one day at Magic Kingdom and got on like 3 rides, and we spent 3 days at Universal.

I hope universal does overtake disney, disney has gotten way too comfortable and never cater to thrill seekers. Universal found a way to incorporate activities for every kind of person who wants to visit a theme park.

Universal wins and no one cares about dizzy anymore. Dizzy takes a hit so hard that traded stock falls to the scare floor and never recovers for at least another decade or more.

They told me that their favorite ride was Magnum XL200 and they were in the time zone of when mille came. Should I agree with this. I don't know about that... it's like McDonald's vs Burger King... yes Burger King has bigger burgers. But no matter what, everyone still goes back to McDonald's- whether it's for the memories, or the fries; Mcdonald's is still king, and everyone will still goes to disney. heck, every time I fly to Orlando, the plane is always full with everyone going to disney.

Your statement is true. Epic will overthrow. Not for the reasons you said. It will overthrow becuase the cartoons our parents grew up with and collected are old. Kids are going up with the shows and toons a 30 year old today watched. Not micky mouse. Kids want to see pokemon how to train your dragon and dreamworks.
