Alton Towers aren't able to build above the tree line due to locals complaining, its a great park and I definitely agree with that they do need a full standout coaster but its quite hard with the tree line restrictions and it makes for quite a unique park!
He does this very often. He also said 2023 was a “light” year for coasters not knowing Toutatis and Batman were going to open. He’s very closed minded when it comes to coasters internationally.
I think that’s all the more reason that park is not perfect. They have a restriction not a lot of parks have which is a flaw, meaning it’s not flawless. Also I can’t see why they can’t make a ride like Taron, I mean trees aren’t that small. Rita is 68.8 feet tall, Taron is 98 feet tall. That is more, but not that much more. They could just make a small whippy coaster like Taron or maybe even like maverick.
I would say the park and lot of enthusiasts (but not necessarily this one) would’ve argued that Diamondback was its star. Some people would still say that.
Nemesis was an invert like none other. One of a kind truly something completely different. Shame that you will never experience the original but hoping the new track is just as good. smiler is the big headline for the park getting the longest queues. The park could do w some more coasters or dark rides tbf
Also he mentioned a Hyper Hybrid or a Giga which unfortunately isn't possible due to the tree line rule. Although a single B&M giga as the only thing above the tree line would really be unique especially if it embraced that concept. Green track and brown supports themed to a giant tree monster or something would be really interesting.
Having only ridden Nemesis the year before it's retrack, I absolutely hope it's smoother now. It was a great ride with crazy intensity but was very rough, comparing it to a recent b&m invert was night and day.
@@BluePineappleCoasters oh boy, I can already hear the residents of Alton frothing at the mouth from you just suggesting towers do anything remotely tall
as a person who has ridden on Nemesis back in 2022. GOD DAMN. It is intense, but intense in a good way. It's not like other B&M inverts where youre like "once youve ridden one youve ridden all of them". Monster (Gröna Lund) would be more of the stereotypical invert, since it's more like Raptor in its smooth nature. But Nemesis is just something else. I was shocked at how intense it truly was.
Alton can’t build above there tree height so unless they plant a three hundred foot tall tree and somehow hide the lift behind that then they can’t build a hyper( also that’s why Nemesis oblivion and all the other coasters there are the way they are with oblivions hole and Nemisis terrain)
I enjoyed the original Wildcat at Hersheypark. I honestly enjoyed it more than Lightning Racer. I can’t wait to check out Wildcat’s Revenge. Also, I don’t know whether I love or hate Magnum XL-200. The restraints aren’t that comfortable and it’s pretty rough. I love airtime. In fact, I loved Skyrush’s airtime, so I don’t know why the airtime finale on Magnum wasn’t that enjoyable.
Great video. Unsolicited request: could you read the takes? I like to put your videos on in the background and I have to rewind if I missed reading the hot take written out. No worries if I'm literally the only one who feels this way hahah
The sad reality is Alton towers literally can't make a giga or a hyper due to them having height restrictions and not being able to build above the tree line and therefore they are practically forced to use inversions or intensity to make the rides interesting instead of excessive height. This is why Nemesis is practically built within a valley and oblivion's drop is 60 percent underground with that being said I think smiler is the stand out ride at that park or headliner as you may describe it with the 14 inversions and all and just the fact that Nemesis is put on the same level and even higher in terms of ride experience just shows how good it is.
6:55 as someone who visits Alton towers quite a lot, I agree with no headliner. The smiler does kind of fill that role however the record could probably reasonably easily be beaten. A hyper or giga would be amazing however the height restriction sucks, which it seems like you don't know about? I may be wrong though
The reason Nemesis is the stand-out attraction at Towers is because of how unique it is. Where else are you getting an invert that uses a literal pit to its advantage, that's something RMC or Intamin would do. Alton Towers can't go above tree height and that is mainly why their coasters can be argued to be a bit nothing. But the thing with Nemesis is the fact that it's a B&M Invert that is less than 100ft, but packs a punch, is as intense as most RMCs and is one of the best coasters in the world.
“Alton Towers doesn’t really have a number one stand out coaster” I’ve heard people say that Smiler is their favorite coaster even if they’ve never been on it. I’ve heard the song that they play in the queue for the Smiler in character playlists. A roller coaster with a literal FANDOM. …that is a stand-out coaster.
I actually didn’t really hate old wildcat, it was one of those “so bad it’s fun” sorta things. Even a lot of my non-coaster nerd friend all thought it was fun because of how it beat you up lmao. But I do generally agree that the ride just wasn’t very interesting in all thing considered, but it could be fun sometimes in its own odd way.
A giga in Alton Towers would be awesome but I don’t think it will work because of laws in the area preventing the park from building above the tree line. They could build it by digging really deep holes but that sounds really out of their budget. I don’t think Alton Towers will ever get a RMC or a large B&M they might get a Intamin Blitz but that probably won’t happen for a long time. Alton Towers looks like they’ll probably get a family attraction for their next attraction.
I always found the roughness on Cat to be bearable. Not painful like it can be on certain rides. Cat was also really nice to have around since it never had a wait. Obviously Wildcat’s Revenge was much needed but I never understood all the hate wildcat got when Sidewinder was in the same park and that always gave me headaches 😂
Here's a personal one for me: Vampire at La Ronde > Goliath at La Ronde and Banshee at King's Island Vampire, when running hot, is so fucking relentless it makes RMCs feel gentle
Isn’t the smiler a headliner? 14 inversions, also Alton Towers have a height restriction. They can’t build above the trees, and I highly doubt the trees are gonna be 300ft tall
Towers need something like a Blitz to replace Rita. No bigger than. 100ft but 2 launches minimum. Then the line up is looking great. Also, there's pretty much zero flat rides at towers these days, so couldnt be classed as perfect without this sorting. It's a great park though amd incredibly beautiful in the spring/summer

Not saying this for clout or attention or anything, but I rode Kong at discovery kingdom and it was actually fun and enjoyable. Magnum has a great finally but definitely not the best. Gatekeeper is simply just a fun ride and does exactly what it sets out to do perfectly, and I feel Alton towers doesn’t really need a standout every ride there is perfect in its own way and they all compliment each other so there doesn’t need to be a stand out especially with their restrictions on height
