Aaron Pico dislocated his shoulder during Bellator 286 and then his corner attempted to violently get it back in place.

I love your balanced approach to giving pointers but also stressing to not cast negative judgement towards people who probably mean well but don't deserve hate for messing up. You are clear where the line is between good intentions-poor outcomes compared to bad intentions-bad outcomes. It really is a great thing to see people who can convey that in a balanced way these days, especially when this social media culture is so quick to send hate to people.

I fell and dislocated my left shoulder many years ago, could not pop it back in myself, just too painful. Had to drive myself, one handed, down to the ER. They got it back in position in roughly 45 seconds or so. Had it in a sling for a few weeks. Fortunately, did not need follow up surgery on it. But I can attest to the pain and discomfort for certain, not something you want to do! @@VTPSTTU usually the Kocher technique or milch technique is the best way but if done incorrectly it could be troublesome… you shouldn’t relocate shoulders if you don’t know how to do it properly. You can also simply externally rotate the arm or something that’s called the eskimo technique (also used in Thailand for muaythai. Armpit on the rope or your sandwhich a chair backrest inbetween your body and your arm and pull down.
Always pull down… if you’re drunk or panicked and have the idea to do it on someone always pull down

@@muayboran6111 Thanks, I'll try to look up "Eskimo technique." I wish I could find a first aid class in adult education where they would cover stuff like this. I don't drink, so that's never an issue. Panic depends on the situation. I haven't faced a situation likely to make me panic in a while.
I live alone in a place that gets a great deal of snow and ice. A couple of years ago, I took two bad falls on the ice one winter. If I'm at home alone and an ambulance can't get to my place, I'd love to know what to do to put my own shoulder back into place.
If I came on an accident, my first instinct if I weren't injured would still be to take care of others who are hurt but not try to something as fancy and relocating a shoulder. On the other hand, I'm in poor health, and I fatigue quickly. If relocating the shoulder of someone involved in the accident would put another strong pair of hands in the effort of taking care of people, there could be value in that. In bad weather, I realize that help might need an hour or longer to reach the scene of the accident.

I've had 4 dislocations and 2 surgeries on my shoulder, and I've had to reduce my shoulder three times on my own. The technique I stumbled on accidentally that works for me is that I lay on my back, I imagine this relaxes the muscles, I then grab the wrist of the dislocated arm, and pull towards my head like I'm doing a snow angel with the bad arm. I don't know why I did this. The first time I did, was after someone tried to yank on my arm like in the video, after that I was seeing stars and got dizzy and laid down and i just put it back in. I've done it twice laying down, and once standing, its a lot better on the ground. I don't know if this is the right thing to do, but it worked for me.

Yeah it’s crazy. The first time it happened to me I freaked out a bit and whenever I moved my arm out of a position I could hold it in, it started hurting a lot. I was resting it on a table trying to figure out what I should do and it kind of just slid back in on its own.
I’ll give your technique a shot though if it ever happens again

@@davidluna9823 It sounds kinda weird, but on number 4 my shoulder was really loose so the dislocation didn’t hurt so bad, but that feeling of it going back in is indescribable

The yanking of the arm itself just looked like a bad idea, and I know close to 0 about anatomy

Hey Brian, I have a few questions for you. I have shoulder instability and I'm still unsure if I have had dislocations or subluxations. The way I've gotten my arm back into place has been by rolling my shoulder and then it's back to normal (with no help from my other arm). It seems like this would only be possible if it's a subluxation, but which do you think this sounds like? Also, should I try a different way of getting it back into place? aka am I getting it back in place safely?

There is a great video of two Russian fighters. One dislocates his shoulder and goes to tap out, while the other (a physiotherapist) pull-pops it back in for him, and they continue.

He never stabilized the scapula, (easy to do when lying down supine) so jerking the whole body violently moves the whole system. Milcher/ Faires
