- Yeah so this is my Journey video of onyx. I've had her 3 months exactly today and I couldn't be prouder to how far she has come! She's come from being a petrified and nervous horse to competing in her first show last weekend and was perfectly behaved and received some lovely comments from everyone there.
It just shows that no horse is completely un fixable, even the wildest most frightening ones! Trust and care is all they ask for and they'll give you their hearts in return.
I've learnt SOOO much from this amazing mare and i think we have been good for each other over these past few months. Thank you to everyone that believed in us from the beginning!
*UPDATE 2015*
had onyx nearly 2 years now, she is doing amazing and I'm so excited for the future with her!
• 18 months with Onyx (R...
If I could give you a million thumbs up, I would. You have literally saved Onyx's life. I admire your courage, your devotion, your tenacity and the confidence you have given to a horse that has been ruined by others. I think you have a big future ahead of you. If only every mistreated and misunderstood horse could find an owner like you.
There are no lost horses. There are only lazy riders.
You did a great job, huuge props to you. This is big time role model material.
Just found your channel.. subscribe! What a journey in 3 months.. definitely something to be proud of :D
EddiesGun91 omg thank you so much! x
What a brave, determined woman!! True grit and I have nothing but pure admiration for you. Thank you for saving one horse out of the tens of thousands ruined by abusive people.
Good for you Hannah!!! I am so happy I came across this video. What a wonderful thing to see when a person sees through the problem to what can be on the other side. She is a beautifully balanced, stunning mare and has made so much progress. I cannot imagine what she endured to make her that way, but we have all seen it before. I am glad she crossed your path so you could show her how life can be. Good for you!!!
Cried when I viewed this. I used to rehabilitate horses in the late '60s/early 70s. Brought back so many wonderful memories. The first time when something 'clicks' inside them and they get it. God Bless you and all others that see the diamond inside the lump of coal.
All that in just three months?!!! Amazing! You are healing her with love
Your an amazing role model to me people say to me my horse is to strong for me I could never handle him today I got on him and rode no worrys thanks to ur amazing work with never quitting x
you gave this horse a second chance which sadly 💔 many aren't that lucky.... you and this special horse have gone thru so much together....you'll have a bond with this horse forever....thanks for bringing up some great memories....
So many people would've given up, and the progress you have made so far is amazing. She always looked like a beautiful mover, but now it's showcased. Good luck in the future with her!
So blessed you are with your beautiful horse! It's true,Hard work does pay of if you truly LOVE what you do! Y'all have become schoolmates together,y'all are truly an inspiration that the impossible is possible! GodBless you and your horse and all those who helped you! I hope to see an update 1 day on y'all! Thanks for sharing your wonderful story! KBJ
This just popped up in my recommended! Such a lovely journey, so lovely that you've given her the best chance in life. She's going to jump the moon for you someday xx
Ah thank you! I have a one year video uploading soon i cant believe how much she has changed! Thats the goal! Hoping to get to a BN in January ☺️
popped up in my recommended too! She looks like a great horse. She just needs confidence and to trust you. I know how you feel. My pony Thomas was like that. He is so much better now.
Hannah Marie what a great story. your horse is really beautiful. You and your horse are truly solmates.
yeah they are
well done for sticking with her - I probably would not have managed it with falling off that much. Great ground work to make her trust you. Hope you have many great years with Onyx
Wow, what a sensational result of riding and training such a challenging horse as Onyx! Congratulations, Hannah, you are a star to produce such a wonderful horse !!!
May I again confirm, that you did a perfect job, starting from your saying: "nobody knows your horse better than yourself, no matter how new or wild they are." Yes, you came to understand Onyx better than any of those know-all big-mouths, who never rode Onyx but felt they could advise you.
Yes, Hannah, you were right in going your own way - and everything you did was exactly the best to do - mainly not giving up or quitting to make Onyx a great show jumper.
Yes, Onyx was about the biggest challenge a girl could be confronted with, testing her rider whether she could ride a walking horse like a circus high school rider (1:26) or act as rodeo girl on a bucking bronco.
And the result is a miracle: you can ride a very calm and Onyx in the forest bareback. Wow - what an achievement!
Your explanation is revealing: "as long as your horse is comfortable and happy and your moving forward in your progress, no matter how slowly, thats how you get such good results."
Yes, Hannah, that is the right philosophy.
But you are mot only good as a psychologist, but also physically very fir and mentally extremely strong - otherwise you could not have taken falls so easy, never get frightened of that beast, but always continue riding her.
I bet, you are one out of a hundred girls to react like that.
And the future? I hope you will continue in your work with Onyx, will succeed and be proud of her and yourself.
This video is not only the story Rotherhithe Rhian - but very much the story of 97hannahmaria as a very determined horse trainer. Excellent job, Hannah !!! Good luck for the future - and do take care!
Thank you so much! x
You can tell you saw something very special in this horse. How lucky you both are.
That is fantastic, and very inspirational, I am going through the same thing with my rescue Arabian gelding. I have had him over a year and he has come a long way, but not nearly as far as you. Patience
is the key, isn't it?
Beautiful! Thank you for saving her. I love horses, especially Friesians. She deserves to be loved. All horses do
I am so glad you never gave up. Well done - she will take you to the stratosphere
What an outstanding rider and trainer--you are bringing the best out of this horse naturally and with patience--you would be welcome to work with any of my horses. Need more kind knowledgeable like you. Beautiful horse/beautiful rider!!
Wow, this is incredible. Let me tell you something the people who tell you that you can't you turn around and say you can. I think you are an incredible person and it takes guts to do something that you want so bad but is so difficult to have. You should be very proud. This little horse will be forever great full for you giving her that second chance. You should be proud off your self and what you have achieved.
This is an inspiration to many.
Well done and I wish you all the luck in the world. Don't give in😘
thank you:)x
you have done such an incredible job with her, you're so talented with problem horses! I can't wait to see what you're doing with her a few months from now if shes come this far in just 3 months!x
thanks!x
This is incredible
I remember you buying her and i doubted you for a second - then realised what you've achieved with Zak and i've been supporting you 100%
I'm speachless
You've done wonders
You've dug and got out the best in her from the crud she's received - you've broken down her wall
every horse has a chance and you were willing to know that . you are awesome and amazing
U done well. Horses r mirror images of us sometimes n some of them don't realise we're here to help n give a them a better life out their. Transformation is the reward n the prize for that is bond, friendship n companionship, along with a soulmate, n a forever friend who can not be replaced by anyone or anything. Have touched my heart.
beautiful! you must be so proud... its the harder horses that have the most to give. xx
I'm so proud or your perseverence! You were a good rider when you began but I noticed your riding become more solid as I watched your video. Keep up the great work!
You are doing an excellent job, keep up the good work, and stay persistent, you and your beautiful horse are winners.
Bravo bravo bravo. you have made the right decision you put the relationship first and your horse has a goal. Bravo
Well done. What a lucky pony to have found you. Good luck with her!
You should be so proud! That was amazing to watch. True grit and determination. You gave her the second chance that many others would have quit on. Good job!!!
OH, and lots of love from the people who want to help her. Not constant relocation!
I was holding my breath. It scared me but so beautiful to see the changes in her :) I'm glad you found her.
She is absolutely stunning! Well done!! x
NICE !!!! very well done, it takes lots of courage and time for the horse to trust someone.
i just love it when horse people don't quit when they fall off, this shows your love to horses indeed.
i did enjoy the video, keep it up you had your mind set and the results are amazing.
cheers.
Arabian Stallion.
Arabian Stallion thank you:)
Questo e' il risultato di una preparazione frettolosa!!!! Inadatta, Approssimativa!!!!!
your love & dedication is so beautiful, my first horse and I had a very similar story, I wouldn't have traded it or him for the world, I subbed your channel, great job!! and Onyx is stunning!!
wow that horse had alot of fear in her. You can't even call it a spooking horse at the beginning of the video; that horse was so scared, it was way beyond a spooking horse. Excellent job you did on her. Such a different horse at the end.
The damaged ones are always the best In the end, I'm riding a pony at the moment that has had the worst background, she's finally comig along. This video is absolutely amazing!
I like it, you did it so well with this horse, very good and good luck and fun you two :-)
Onyx is breathtaking and you are an amazing rider
Wow- very impressive what you did there! Keep it up and don't let anything get you down.. you definately seem to be on re right path...
Amazing transformation . Well done xx
This is amazing how much you have improved in so little time. well done you are truly inspirational xx
that far in just 3 months!!! incredible!!!
Amazing job you two did there, also beautifully edited
that horse is just😍😍😍
absolutely amazing... you are bad ass!! and Onyx is stunning
great job you should be proud ! SHE PERSISTED !!
Inspirational! I saw that you were doing bareback riding with her. Was that prior to putting a saddle back on her? I have a rescue who excels in bareback, but acts up with a rider in a saddle. Just curious if bringing Onyx back to that raw connection helped you guys like it did us. My head throwing/ crow hopper doesn't do that stuff bareback.
The horses that take the longest to trust, are the ones that build the strongest bonds.
***** i really hope thats true! its so hard keeping motivated sometimes!
Hannah Marie You're doing a great job with her! You'll totally get there, even if it takes months or even years! And once that bond is formed, she would risk her life for you if she had too! You must be the first human that she has trusted, even a tiny bit, in a long time! Hope your good work continues, don't lose hope
Can I just say, that is amazing! Onyx looks like she was a handful and it must have taken a lot of work to get her happy and relaxed. Congratulations to you both for doing so well! I wish I could do this. My pony is scared of jumping poles or anything higher than a few cm. Do you have any tips?
+Cordy Archer thank you:), just persistance and a back protector ;) good luck! x
hats off too you xx
love the little parts of supernatural in the music 🙌
Beautiful!
This is amazing. just amazing.
Wow... U must have put I a lot of effort to work with this horse and it deffently seemed to have payed off
Great Video, Good Work !
You are awesome !
many would of given up !
This gave me the chills🙄🙄

Is she part Friesien? Just putting my 3 year old Fr. girl in training, old lady so will get someone with younger bones to bring up her mind/experience.
Great video, partnership and rider!

Only a good rider can turn a horse around. for you you are a good rider.

Very good job girl ;)

you done good
I have a new 4 year old and nobody thinks I can train him because he is crazy and he is young. It's hard.
I'm trying my best though
omg the supernatural though. ;)
Moira yaas the supernaturaaaaal
God bless you guys for what you do. It DOES take a lot of work to help a damaged horse come around. They don't trust people, they think everybody is out to hurt them, especially humans. And like it or not HUMAN BEINGS are the MOST DANGEROUS animals on the planet, especially those cruel to these beautiful animals. Thank God there are other people out there willing to work with them and show them not all people are bad.
How beautiful. I've had a similar experience; my horse was nowhere near as bad as yours but he was very spooky and nervy when I first got him (actually just very green for his age) and people made similar comments "oh he's an Arab he's crazy" "good luck with that one" "you've got your work cut out for you with that crazy horse"
Thus far in the space of a year I've done dressage, endurance, hunting, cross country and showjumping with him, and yes he's not been perfect every time but he's so worth it! I hate it when people just want a perfect horse straight away and act like they should all just be fine from day one and if they're not it means they're crazy
Well done with Onyx! She's stunning. Is she a Welsh D or Friesian cross?
thank u for taking the time to prove horses can learn and they just need time. amazing job for u and the horse.
I'm so glad you included the footage of seemingly every fall, it really drives in how hard this is and how much it pays off to keep getting up in the saddle. You two are beautiful!
Wow what you've done is incredible, you can be so proud of yourself. It's insane, I'm speechless..
Great job, keep up the good work!
***** thank you so so much!! it means so much coming from you too!!x
Hannah Marie, you are an inspiration and a very brave lady. Pity there aren't more people like you with your patience, dedication and love. Best wishes to you & Onyx. xxx
I know this was a long time ago but I cried watching this because I just had to give up horse back riding and you are such a great rider and I hope you never have too.
You have a BIG heart and an ENORMOUS amount of love, riding skill, determination and tenacity. No, you didn't quit!!
dont let people get you down. i owned damaged goods for a long time. a black mare too. she became my best friend and greatest teacher. keep at it. youre doing an amazing job.
amazing video! also, great use of audio from Supernatural
Nice video! Remember to let go pressure when it's good. Thats her reward.
I've had my mare for 24 years now and she was very difficult when I first got her, scared and nervous like your mare. But at age 28, you wouldn't know this calm, smart, cooperative and gentle mare was the same horse. I learned SOOO much because of her, like you have. May you enjoy each other for many years to come!
Sidney Manzanita that's a very long time! amazing horse i bet
Unless you have worked with a horse to earn it's trust and reap the rewards of your efforts you cannot describe the feeling of the end result and the closeness you have with the horse in the end, its a unbreakable bond ...Congrats on your determination , well done and good luck ( will watch the rest of your video's )
What breed is she my new mare looks quite a bit like her but we don't know her breeding. Oynx is beautiful and you have done so well with her X
you are amazing I wish more people in the world wouldn't give up on horses you could see the fear in her eyes and you recognize that you realize that you have to control her feet before you can control animals and you've done that you are amazing keep up the great work please let us know how things are going the world needs more people like you with a big heart and understanding
This is amazing!! It looks like you have done such a great job with her!! Just wow!!!!
Thank you Hannah... My first horse was "damaged goods". I had her for 24 years - she lived until she was 36. She taught me how to ride and then she taught my daughter how to ride. Never quit on the horse you love.
2 different horse :D
Gorgeous change
Really love this video❤ You're such a good rider and you're doing great work with your horse❤ It's incredible how far you have come in only 3 months❤ I really love it that you never give up❤ xxx
I hope her show name is Damaged Goods! I think that is very cute. I noticed you posted this years ago, I hope you two have continued to build!
The supernatural omg YAS
No whip, no smacking, no spurs, no straps, no verbal abuse. Girl, you are a great horsewoman! You take your time & go gently with your horse which was all she needed. Thank god no one else had the patience for her because she found a gem in you! And you showed no fear even during all that bucking & messing around. How I don't know. Fair play!!
When your Amy Fleming
Not everyone wants to risk their life and limb with a rogue horses. It's great she stuck with Onyx but you certainly can't blame or shame anyone who wasn't up to the task.
does anybody else get reminded of Sea Biscuit when you watch this
I broke my arm when I fell of my horse. She started bucking and my saddle went of and I fell. But this video just gave me more motivation to keep trying :) I know this is posted like last year, but thank you so much
Love your horse and this video was so heart warming❤️🐴
This has only just popped up for me, but for only 3 months the change in her is remarkable!! You've done such a great job and it's great that she had someone that didn't just give up on her again x
