tearsinmyramen oh yeah! I mean japanese is actually derived from Chinese, so a lot of the characters means the same in both Chinese and Japanese. So 店 is both Japanese and Chinese! (Well in this case it’s Japanese) 😄
*Fun Fact:* _Animal Crossing_ was based on the creator's (Katsuya Eguchi) experience of loneliness in Nintendo HQ when he's leaving his friends and family to a new town.
my honest opinion is that this opinion formed early in the fandom when his first western appearance made him a bit rough around the edges. certain actions would make him give the player attitude [like going into the shop without the uniform on] & since a lot of us were really young, probably took it to be more antagonistic than intended. but the opinion was already formed & hard to change when so many others experienced the same thing & made jokes about it, so new fans that came in with each new game saw this reaction to the character in the already-existing fandom so they jumped on the bandwagon. i've given this a lot of thought, i've been a fan since the original ac & back in those days i showed the game to every friend i had so i am suuuuuper familiar with how kids reacted to tom nook initially. i think i was the only kid i knew back then that didn't take an immediate attitude with tom nook, personally. i specifically remember one girl i grew up with getting super irritated with him early on, lmao.
Honestly, I think Tom Nook is my favorite character so far. He's just so much more complex and kind than people give him credit for. Not to mention, he's adorable~
10:44 This design is actually from the Japanese Exclusive Animal Forest e+ which was a translation of Animal Crossing. Animal Crossing added more features that would appeal more to an international audience and the Japanese team loved it so they kept those features, added new ones and released it in Japan as Animal Forest e+. In the game when Nook's shop is closed you can bang on the building multiple times with a shovel and it will open up with a tired Tom Nook who is angry at you for waking him up, causing him to raise the prices of the products and he will also move really slow.
The exact nature of their relationship with Tom Nook is unclear. In earlier games, Timmy and Tommy are suggested to be Tom's sons or nephews. But Nook states in Animal Crossing: Wild World that he has no relation to Timmy and Tommy, and that they are simply his employees.
My favourite outfit was the purple suit in Nookington's. I always wanted one myself. Also , the pyjamas are a reference to the first Animal Forest, where if you knocked 3 times on the door of his shop with your shovel, when it was closed, he would open the shop and be wearing those pyjamas. He also charged you 20% extra for items, which is understandable given you woke him up. Oh, and shows how poor he was to begin with considering he sleeps in the shop.
You really hit these balls out of the park on this video! Albeit concerning to hear that the end of the video was not you talking to Nook about meeting your end of the bargain...
The series is full of that style subtle humour, honestly. Some of which is a bit darker, e.g. the horse who's name is Elmer. Nook's Cranny is the best of the Tom Nook/Timmy and Tommy store names for it - Maybe the store fronts generally but I do like Shampoodle for a hair dresser and Re-Tail for what is essentially a pawn shop.
@@Stephen-Fox Elmer's glue is famously NOT made with animal castoff, which is why it uses a happy cow for its logo. Naming a horse after it is considerably better than naming a horse after any other brand (or at least any brand that uses horse).
for anyone interested in the weird obsession Japan's folklore has with tanuki balls, may I suggest image searching for 'tanuki ukiyoe'. some real creative uses there.
I understand tom nook tbh. In wild world, sable and he himself explained that he had gotten too eager to go to the big city, and wanted to start there. So he did, and had worked very harsh hours, had been under constant pressure, and finally, after he had made it, his money was taken away. All of it. By who, it is not known, but its by someone he trusted. He started writing less Letters to Sable, and became overall depressed. That might also explain the look in his eyes. The Fact he had to go all through that made him the person he is. You, the Player, can work WHENEVER you want, if you want to (atleast in the older titles) and you are able to pay off your house with zero interest payment. Because of that past. And, honestly, knowing that, im kind of sad to see so many people thinking of him as a bad guy. Heck, Timmy and Tommy are merely his students, and the reason he is their Mentor is because he doesnt want them to do the Mistakes he did. So yea. Alot to know about this Tanooki dude.
I want to confirm, Timmy and Tommy have been confirmed to not be related to Tom Nook by blood, he even says himself that he sees himself as their mentor and them as his pupils. I don’t remember what game it was in, but I believe it was said by him in happy home designer while talking to his Amiibo. However, there is speculation that Timmy and Tommy were from the orphanage that 90% of Tom Nooks funds go to. In happy home designer, he also said there’s an orphanage wing a few towns over named after him,

Worth looking up videos of.
The original look will always be the best. My second favorite is the sweater vest one, he looks rich, but not flashy. I don't really like the NH outfit because it gets boring quick, yea it's nice but for a little while.
He’s my favourite character I love him so much As for my favourite outfit, I’d have to go with his new leaf design (the jumper) but only because I grew up with new leaf and it’s my favourite game in the series since it was the first one I ever played (my second favourite has to be the original apron, followed closely by the pyjamas and polo shirt)
I don't have the new game yet so I didn't know his New Horizons winter outfit was a thing until watching this T^T!! That lil outfit is so cute I'm gonna cry T^T!!!!

Great video! My favourite designs are from City Folk and New Horizons, because they equally show the styles of their generations at their best.
That pair of pyjamas first appeared in dōbutso no mori e+, a version of the original animal crossing game, I believe it’s only available in Japan.
Great video! My favourite designs are from City Folk and New Horizons, because they equally show the styles of their generations at their best.
That pair of pyjamas first appeared in dōbutso no mori e+, a version of the original animal crossing game, I believe it’s only available in Japan. You can see it if you bang on his shop three times with a shovel after it’s closed for the night, I believe only if you haven’t been inside it during the day

Tommy and I were wondering why there was a random woman in the shop a couple days ago.

Nothing has given me more fear today than the white-on-black text that tells Mark “yes you have” “pls stop”. Who... what... is it?
