    • @Lo-and-Jaq
      @Lo-and-Jaq 3 года назад +6

      @@baloochness I very much enjoyed my time studying architecture at the University of New Mexico. I minored in sustainability and took classes at the honors college as well. I was able to complete my degree in 4 years and given scholarships to make me be able to afford the tuition. I can only speak to my experience in those realms, I am from New Mexico and lived off campus working and paying rent - I worked 2 jobs throughout most of my education to make ends meet - but cost of living is reasonable in Albuquerque. I was able to network and make professional connections in undergrad that led to my current employment in my field. I am personally not one for sports - but we have a great basketball team and a few big football games people enjoy. There is also a place on campus you can rent camping supplies to enjoy the beautiful nature in New Mexico. There are a lot of yearly events that hopefully will resume now that the pandemic is winding down - my favorite was the sustainability expo and a lot of people like "Fiestas" a yearly free concert on campus. All in all UNM was a great and affordable choice for my education. There is an extremely diverse student body and faculty at UNM. There is also a lot of opportunity for your son to find impactful work in New Mexico. I couldn't forget to mention the food is also amazing if you like some heat! Remind him to not leave any valuables visible in his car though - and maybe buy a wheel lock. We are high in vehicular theft and break-ins. The University and Nob Hill areas are pretty safe most of the time, just be aware and you will be fine. All in all there is nowhere in the US quite like New Mexico - I am proud to call it home.

    I was back in Albuquerque last February for a family funeral. I find Albuquerque much more drivable than Seattle. I've taken to riding the bus (pre-pandemic) in Seattle as driving and parking can be ridiculous. One has to remember which way the one way streets of Lead and Coal run in Albuquerque, that is about as challenging as it gets.

    • @weicitytour

There are many many buildings over two stories, and you can paint them any color you want. There are no color restrictions. I can't imagine where you got that information. I'm wondering if you are putting us on.

      No. The buses are dangerous- theyre free until autumn and only the homeless and druggies use it.. my mom will on OCCASION if its passing by and very hot to get maybe 2 or 3 miles. otherwise she walks.. theyre urgently looking for bus drivers, who keep quitting due to violence- theyre scared to be driving... all my uber drivers told me NOT to take the bus lol I dont even feel that unsafe in JERSEY

    I'm not sure what time of day you videoed this, but the homeless, crazies and drug addicts are much, much more prominent that what I see here! The city is literally out of control in terms of crime and street drug addiction, w/ a police force that is known for shooting first and asking questions later. They've been under a Federal Judicial Order to stop that for a looooong time. Hands down the most dangerous city I ever lived in. They actually had to put live cameras on the buses that go directly to the police because of all the assaults that occured on them.
    People say how beautiful it is....Abq is brown, and only the sunsets liven it up. A good art scene and the green chili is good too, but believe me, its not worth it to live in that dump. You can get a green chili cheeseburger even in Arkansas now. Just look at other Abq youtube videos here, that's the real Abq.

    Just weird how its SO earth conscious but they STILL use plastic bags and styrofoam. I ate at a restaurant and they SERVED me with plastic silverware and a styrofoam bowl lol and my drink was in none recyclable BP plastic lol.. there's NEVER anybody walking around, everyone is in cars... the bus barely shows up, its 105 and youcan wait up to an HOUR just to get 2 miles... all the houses are on busy streets (some aren't) but none of the side streets connect,
    just a bunch of dead ends... The mountains are beautiful and gardens...
    peoples homes are gorgeous how they decorate.... Everybody has a dog that they just leave out in the heat - online there's like 20 dogs missing a day lol BRING YOUR PUP INSIDE.. they just all go to the fence and jump and bark at you EVERY SINGLE TIME you step onto the sidewalk..... just bizarre area...
    People are OK, but i live across from a restaurant that locks its doors and so i went to the drive up window and they said they couldnt serve me without a car HAHAHAHA SO im there HUNGRy and HOT.. LIVE 20 feet away but NEED A CAR to order FOOD......
    beside myself.
    I booked a flight home. I can see why OLD people or RETIRED people come with their SAVINGS...bc its cheap to COME here...
    but dont come here thinking youre going to just build a life from scratch (unless youre extremely thrifty and clever perHAPS).
    I rode my bike on the way to Old Town and there were like 70 people underneath an underpass ... gang i think? and people are camped out HOMELESS EVERYWHEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE - its CREEPY!
    The fact that down the road its called "War Zone" isnt enticing...
    All the Uber drivers had like 4 jobs and they were like TEACHERS and REAL ESTATE agents STRUGGLING to make extra cash!... NOT a good sign.
    However, the extreme amoiunt of butterflies, hummingbirds, salamanders, beautiful large snails with like seashells on their backs... the nature (when OFF of the trillion Highways) is just incredible.. I looked up few days ago and saw half a rainbow just chillin over my head like floating around... its pretty magical... but you feel all alone all the time...
