Weird. Theatrics, intonations, no growl. I don't hate it, but it's weird.
I like it more than the original. It feels weirdly more universal, but also more clearly about Ireland.
Beautifully done. I fell in love with the original song by the Cranberries when I was a teen, and with the recent explosion in popularity, thanks in no small part to the Bad Wolves cover, I've been able to re-experience the magic this song inspired in my heart so long ago. While Bad Wolves added a hard edge with their brand of rock and (though unfortunately not those that were intended for the song) phenomenal vocals, this rendition captures another side of the same song. Rather than feeling the anger and injustice that seems to scream at you through the Bad Wolves cover, this speaks to the dismay and hopelessness that I think the original song truly intended to capture.
Nothing can ever replace that iconic original, but it's been done justice here, no less than it was by the Bad Wolves cover. Splendid work.
