Bad American Station IDs: The Collection

- Опубликовано: 2 ноя 2019
- There's kinda bad. There's bad. and then there's REALLY bad. This one's got it all. Crafted with American pride.
Finally! After two reuploads, it's (mostly) error-free! (except for an error where I say that WJMN is KSTF, when it's not...also maybe a few other things, but screw it)
I own none of the clips used here, and they go to their respective owners.
Third time's the charm I guess...
WLNY (1 of 2): Cheap and boring... We already did this... Next
WLNY (2 of 2): Remember when I called this one better? I lied. Less animation doesn't make your logo any better. And that piss colored background. Why do you hurt us?
WGTW (1 of 2): Cheaply animated as well as an eyesore. Excuse me while I puke.
WGTW (2 of 2): Look up the word generic in an online dictionary and you will find this. Boring.
WCAX (1 of 2): This would be much better if the end result actually faced the camera properly. The rest is an eyesore.
WCAX (2 of 2): You wanted a trail. You got an abomination. Happy now? Your viewers aren't.
WFLI: Yawn.
WKFT: The least you could do is choose more than one font...
WGGT: PowerPoint.
WHSH: This is what happens when your shopping network never actually sells shit. You get zero budget and this horrendous experience.
WNDS: More a case of really nothing interesting though they attempted something dynamic. Hard pass.
WSJK: You know we're actually supposed to be able to read those call letters around the 2, right?
WTTE: Have we made it to hell yet? I think we have.
WJPR/WVFT: *YAAAAAAAAAWWWNNN*
WBAK: That spin just makes me want to puke my guts out, sorry.
WFCT: That's music? Oh hell no let me out of here
KLDT: Boring and cheap. Pass.
KHIZ: Decade too late, boring as hell.
KVVT: First of all... PowerPoint. Also, I believe that would be CBS's old "In The News" Saturday morning segment opening animation, so... stolen content! (Oh and you only got a 3 year affiliation with ABC because KABC's signal sucked and they didn't really give a shit.)
WMCC: What the hell was that fly-in? It looked like you just didn't give a shit.
WWAT: Too much cheap animation and shit going on at once to keep up with.
WADL: Oh wow! A gif of your crappy logo rotating in front of a sky background. How exciting!... *not*
KARD: Boring slide in and that's it. You're trying to put me to sleep, huh?
WBRZ: No I do not know what you mean. Go away.
WGMB: Ok, but did we really need a random flashy background? And why purple?
WNTZ: Background is ugly as shit, and that font is horrible.
KBJR: A boring zoom in and... that's it. I'm taking a nap.
WTVW: Trying to make a standard station slide feel like something bigger. You didn't. do it.
WEHT: Oh wow! Boring transitions!
KDOC: Crappy logo entrance, but the music does kinda make up for it.
WACY: Great idea on paper, annoying as hell when it was made for real. Why.
WOHL: Oh god that font. That is cheap as hell. So is the zoom in...
WWBT: Ok this one really isn't that bad, just the video quality makes it look worse than it does in reality. You get a pass.
WACH: Random music choices! And especially ones that deal out migraines!
KOFY: Ok I'll be honest, I laughed my ass off at the dog slipping off the table. Oh and an abrupt jingle cutoff too.
WFTE: uh why so small? What are you trying to accomplish?
KFDF: Okay, just has a weird quality to the animation and the music. Just something off, that's all.
WTZA: PowerPoint.
WRNN: Upgraded to the new version of PowerPoint.
KMSG: The animation feels slow, boring, and kinda choppy.
KRGV: PowerPoint.
KXLI: We've developed the perfect way to get our catchphrase through... *FOOD!* random but ok...
KARD: Seizure warning. So American they'd die for it.
KNOP: *SHIT! WRONG SLIDE!* The first slide was better though, this second one is kinda an eyesore.
WPGX: Rapid entrance plus a random as hell font choice.
WFWA: Low budget year? This is about a decade late and so painfully boring it hurts.
WBGT: Once again, this feels a decade out of place.
KOKH: Kinda boring...
KWTX: Oh god that trail is painful
WBKB: The ultimate PowerPoint logo
KSTF: So crappy it hurts. Rotates every which way except the one which makes it good.
WJMN: ZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZzz- wait wha, oh sorry fell asleep on this one.
KGWC: Oh wow a boring slide in and a font that fit more a decade earlier on a boring black background. How much more excitement can there be?
KVEO: Random equals cool I guess, right? *NO.*
KUCB: Get the cheese, this one is painful.
WFAA: Please just remove my eardrums. Holy fuck this is painful.
KIMT: And the cream of shit soup, this beautifully painful pile of manure. This looks like anything I'd create (The one graphic design class I took in my freshman year I failed horribly.) Why have this exist if you can't even make something good?
Ladies and gentlemen, please take time to appreciate this comment lol. Spot on reasoning
No. WBRZ: What you doing here Ernest (Played by Jim Varney)
Also, both stations at 2:08 and 3:19 lost their ABC affiliations because the general viewers in the area didn’t care for them and they wanted to see more FOX programming, as there were other ABC stations that provided stronger programming.
WBAK is still with ABC, KARD switched to Fox in 1994 as a result of affiliate switches that happened at the time due to deals with certain companies etc. etc. etc. Also, Fox got football in 1994 so that may have been it as well
No. Actually, WBAK (Now WAWV-TV) used to be a Fox affiliate from 1995-2011, I know it became an ABC affiliate again in 2011. Also yeah, the Fox NFL Broadcasting Rights deal also was a huge factor as well. Also, fun fact, KARD was the first Television Station to take in full effect of the Fox affiliation switch within Fox’s deal with the NFL kicking off, as it switched affiliations from ABC months before the season kicked off, on April 17, 1994.
@WoodKnapp94 KOFY was the best *bad* American TV Station in San Francisco.
WFAA in Dallas really went from someone hitting their head on the sound effects room in 1973 to being a well respected and well made op in less than 20-30 years. Wow.
This is what happens when artists are deemed 'too expensive', so they're fired and some accountant takes a few hours off to diddle around using shareware on their office PC.
48! 48! W-G-G-T-T-V! 48! 48! The great.....entertaineeerrr!!
1:41 Hi, I'm from Knoxville, and yeah, that actually served two markets, even though channel 2 could BARELY REACH KNOXVILLE, and they didn't have the funding for another antenna until '88, and it went in service in 1990. I've worked at East Tennessee PBS before and it's really interesting, all the stories and old tapes there, it's amazing.
3:23 I’d give WBRZ a break, that’s Ernest!
I had no idea this was Ernest at the time and I thought this was some random guy
I lost my shit at the dog falling off the table. Could they really not afford another take?
I think it was intentional. It even looks sped-up.
After watching a few of these idents, i don't think like that now.
Its definitely like that on purpose. The KOFY idents are great. Cute and funny
6:01 I think they got the sax player straight out of a pub
4:41 If someone wants the music, it's Voyager from Alan Parsons Project
The KOFY Dog IDs are classic and to call them "bad" is blasphemy in the Bay Area.
Goober was cute, I love Yorkies
I'm not from the Bay Area, but I love those IDs. All those dogs were unique and cute 🐶🐕💓
coffee kofy tv 20 san francisco
I was so hoping the KOFY bumper with poor Goober would show up. So glad you didn't disappoint!
I used to dread the KOKH station ID as a kid because of that creepy synth they used, lol. They were otherwise a pretty great local station for movies before they affiliated with Fox.
The WKFT one is probably the best one in this bunch by far, really cool jingle!
A lot of these have some funky ass jingles tho lol
Luke2505 TV I love WGGT’s theme
Still some minor errors, check description! Sorry for leaving you hanging; this is a lesson to ALWAYS double-check before uploading, or to set to private which I forgot to do...
5:22 I believe the TV Heaven ident came from the same guys who produced bumpers for MTV and Nickelodeon in the early to mid-80s.
They're awesome. Definitely worth looking up for fans of idents.
3:44
Turn on the auto-captions.
TheRealDealTV _baby ass_
5:28. What happens when you accidentally smoke the American flag instead of weed.
The music on WFCT though..
Maybe Channel 62 becoming a FOX affiliate was a great thing..........
Sounds like people falling down stairs with kitchenware. It’s a good thing that in the fanon universe, Anticipalivision bought WFCT.
Wow, I remember KLDT 55 from when I lived in that area! It looked/sounded pretty dated even then, but so was its programming, oldies but goodies like Airwolf and Kojak, so it kind of fit.
There’s certainly some great sourcing for a majority of IDs that can be made for videos such as Station IDs from every US Market from the 1980’s, 1990’s, and 2000’s, especially from MrSurferOne, Jacky9br, Stevations, and Many more
Thank god you reuploaded this!
I was expecting this to be over an hour long.
You watch No's videos Extreme? Anyways, KLDT got replaced with KAZD (Dallas-Fort Worth station with the same numbers). I need some more info about KLDT.
@@JuanSplatedUp Yeah, I do! He is one of the people I subbed to :D.
4:28 The dog fell off the table. Oof.
4:28 ha ha HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA thanks for the funny moments .
Poor dog at 4:28... 🐶🐕😶
boowomp
rip L bozo
You know we had to save the worst IDs for last.
3:56: Dig Dug AND Pac-Man?!!
The WFAA had okay animation for it's time. But goddamn they should have made the music more quieter!
Agreed.
Someone hit their head in the sound quality room.
0:45 I actually live in Plattsburgh NY, so I think it's cool to see those IDs in the video.
Wow u live near Canada.
Yes he does
I actually was a fan of both the WLNY IDs but dear lord that WFAA ID.....
(3:56) I instantly recognized those Dig Dug sound effects! Pretty nuts to hear them being used for a station ID!
... and Robotron 2084, which made me do a double-take.
03:44
Turn on captions.
Baby ass
Get ready for baby ass!
Brr I have nothing to say.
The drum beat thing they've got for the second KARD ID is actually pretty good, ngl
But the logo looked like they just designed it and said "f**k it" midway through.
That wwat-TV one was metal 🤘
Right after that it becomes “THIS IS FAX KIDS-“
station IDs just stopped being good in the 90s and never recovered imo
The really bad ones aren't even here because they're just boring, like the late 90s ABC Idents 🤮
1:40 gives me vibes of the 70’s and also the channel 2 logo is odd
A lot of the smaller-market PBS stations were behind the times with their station ID’s.
3:21 make a note of it?..why would I want to do that?!
it’s for nielsen ratings that determine how big a tv market is (there are 210 in the us)
3:16 kind of gives it that Phineas and Ferb feeling with that music…
1:39 TV worth launching out the window
I still cannot not think "TV WORTH LAUNCHING... OUT THE WINDOWWWWW"
I love the WKFT music
Also keep in mind. Not all of these are TERRIBLE. Just not that good. For variety purposes.
Hey No. Can I use your video for the KLDT ID? There's not a lot info about that station, I wanna know more. I don't want to get pissed at me for just "stealing" your content.
Um you can use that segment if needed, provided you credit me
@@JuanSplatedUp I remember watching KLDT! It had oldies but goodies like Airwolf and Kojak. Sadly it didn't last very long.

@@jabukagala *s u p e r c h e e s y*
2:33 I understood he say "Google 64"
João Calil it is “TV64”
@@tkng2001 Well it sounds like he said Google 64. But yeah it is TV64
It's: "KHIZ, TV 64. Barstow, Victorville, Apple Valley, Hesperia." After that, it's: "KVVT. Serving Big Bear Lake, Calico, and the entire High Desert Metro."
I enjoyed this, it's cool and good.
the WGTW ID from '99 legit made me laugh. that awful MIDI jingle combined with the spinning 3D text, just ugh
Sounds like something from Rugrats.
Looks like something made in BluffTitler.
*GET READY FOR CHANNEL THREE*
*GET READY FOR CBS*
0:37 when someone doesn't know how to use blender properly since is their 1st time
3:57 I like this one
Granted some of these really aren’t great but the ones that have jingles are actually pretty neat! The one for the Green Bay Fox affiliate is pretty cool too with the whole computer desktop screen. But a majority of these are really decent.
that last channel 8 is brilliant
I've heard KRGV's jingle somewhere not relating to logos...
WTTE is my local FOX station! I may have some other bumpers from them from 2007-2008 on one of my Sonic X tapes, I'll have to check.
EDIT: WWAT is also now my local TheCW affiliate - their callsign is now WWHO-TV.
the reason goober fell - those idents would use an audio sample of a barking dog in the TV. most dogs just looked over , but goober was a little jumpy when the fake dog bark came on.
For WOHL, he included the -LP, but its actually -CD
4:28 Poor Goober!!!
Was this inspired by my comment about making a video featuring a station ID from Every State, as well as mentioning about every television market from different decades, primarily the 1980’s and 1990’s
6:45 "THAT'S A ROAD SIGN"
The dog!
The strangely patriotic one!
These are so bad they loop right back around to good!
I gotta call attention to WFAA. Logos can indeed be ruined by obnoxious sound design, as seen, or rather heard there. If they just used normal music or something, the logo would actually be pretty good for 1973. But no, they had to give you a headache-inducing soundtrack that makes them sound like Columbiana's American cousin. Goddamn.
4:06
This gave me deja vu.
This fits more in the 2010's imo.
TZA ID's always scared the poo outta me when I was a kid.
Where's every station ID in Medford, Oregon?
I didn't think any of the early 1980's ones were bad... at least until they had the one with the dog falling off the table. Poor pups.
I love how No. refuses to believe that the KIMT logo actually aired due to how weird/plain it is
3:00 Song is "Hawaiian Chance" by Yello
4:25 my Favorite one cause of the dog slip
Hey, No., the WPGX-TV logo says it’s from 1997, but the music is Fatboy Slim’s Weapon Of Choice, which didn’t come out until 2000, I believe. Am I right in thinking there’s an error somewhere?
there easily could be! I couldn't find any standalone videos of that online, so I assumed that it was based off of the logo's first years of use (1997). If it's from at least 2000 then that's even worse. Damn.
Where do you rate Local 58 (WCLV-TV)?
WJMN in Marquette is associated with WFRV in Green Bay and they have always had the same logos. As for WACY, I liked it when I was a little kid in the 90s.
KLDT 55 in Dallaa/Fort Worth got replaced with KAZD, a Azteca station. I guess, KLDT got bankrupt and got replaced.
KUNC Network Same fate happened with KNWS as they were replaced with KYAZ. Azteca America bought those stations I think.
A lot of 1990s IDs here...
3:26 Turn on Captions
Lol, KWTX is the station I watch. Glad they improved graphics since the 90s.
Can't believe that the largest station in NYC once had a horribly stupid ident.
Most of these would have been acceptable had they come out about a decade prior to their release dates. Some very 70s/80s sounding synths well into the 90s!
3:23 Yo wassup Jim Varney!
Why the sound remind me of a Atari video game @6:36
That
fox kids logo could be why Disney bought fox kids in 2001 and a decade later in return bought fox
Did WACY (4:04) seriously use sound effects from Robotron and Dig Dug for their station ID? In 1999? That one is pretty bad. (RIP Goober.)
Wkft sounds fire
My birthplace 😊 4:14
Some of these are good considering most of these were low budget syndies. You can't really expect them to have network tv quality logos. Example I've heard WFTY-TV in DC used surplus tv station equipment and public domain films because it was that low budget.
The KVEO-TV From 1982 Kind Looks Like I'm Hearing This In Midnight 6:35
What was so bad about the KBJR one?
That last one got me dying 🤣
3:44 Let's talk about the worst part of that ID: the horrid mishmash of fonts CBS called a campaign logo.
KOFY = Coffee.
Rip to that poor dog from KOFY TV
Waits for a PBS station called WHAT
So much to see.... Between you and me! W! K! F! T! Lovin' TV40! (instrumental tune) WKFT!
1:05
Funny jingle 🤣
0:31 Fun fact, WGTW broadcast ECW wrestling for a while and later broadcast CZW
I question how some of these are bad...
I also question how you missed a few of the really bad ones...
Some of these are only mildly bad. Also if you have worse I'd love to see
btw hate to double reply but I'm on mobile and can't edit my comment: I may do a part two in the future
tbf atleast the first 2 have a catchy tune
NUKE RADIO!
We make your eardrums bleed!
Are the audio and video intentionally out of sync?!
Obviously you have forgot the state of Maryland.
because, well-
*we have bad tv station logos, too apparently.*
KHIZ, TV 64. Barstow, Victorville, Apple Valley, Hesperia.
(2:29)
2:42
Would've been better if it was like this:
KVVT, TV 64. Big Bear Lake, Calico, Barstow, Victorville, and the entire High Desert Metro.
KHIZ-TV is now KILM-TV and its new city of license is Inglewood, CA (2018)
The one for WGTW 40 seconds in is one of the WORST I’ve ever seen. The hell were they thinking with that!?
Some of these station ID's sound like they belong in the late 70s or the early 80s, like the KOFY one, or WGGT, or WMCC, for example.
By 2004 WGTW's ID got even worse. Then they were old to TBN. Last independent station in Philadelphia gone.
WBGT Is now a MYTV affiliate
