    Very nice job!
    I have a 40 inch Buffalo sinew backed self bow of Osage Orange that was made by my adopted son who is Eastern Shoshone. I took a full year and a half before the sinew was completely through drawing the bow to it's full strength! It draws at close to 80 pounds at my draw length which I've never measured! I became disabled and can no longer draw it! It is a simple bow but a powerful one!
    Yours is a nice bow, too, though I've never seen ANY Native bow of the 19th Century that was curved, as yours is! Those curves are 20th Century inventions for Native Americans! Some of the experimented with recurves but not many!
    I think your tipi is a few poles short of the recommended number, even for a 14 foot lodge!
    I live on the Wind River Indian Reservation, Home to the Eastern Shone and Northern Arapaho People! Tipis are very common, here. My wife and I lived 8 months each year in an 18 foot lodge and now, our lodge is a 24 foot tipi! It takes a lot more poles but, has a ton more space that the 18 foot one we used to use!

      @@StiliyanStefanov As a descendant of Choctaw people, and raised making bows, and just about everything else with my hands, I am sure the ingenuity of Native American people would have gladly accepted modifications to bow design according to the builders ability. Stiliyan Stefanov you are a wonderful example to us all what we can do with our hands, and not to underestimate what a human alone in the woods can come up with. One of them dreamed up civilization.

    • @christianbowyer7812
      @christianbowyer7812 2 года назад

      Hi Tomasz, to my knowledge this bow represents the Hidatsa tribe style. These bows they used also to beat up enemies after the arrows were gone. The deflexed tips make them more handy for this than reflexed tips would. No joke!
      Sure reflexed tips help increase arrow speed, but are sometimes instable. The setback in the handle makes it also hard shooting at this short draw length.
      @Stiliyan: very good job 👏 thanks for sharing with us ❤️

    Stiliyan, watching you craft bows is an absolute joy! I have one question about this one though. I noticed that you didn't cover the sinew backing with birch bark to protect it from water this time. I want to make my own fish glue and so far I came up with sources who say that the glue is not waterproof and will dissolve with water, and other sources saying the opposite. Can you tell me what your experience as taught you? Thank you
