I love this dude. His work is as close to authentic I think, you will ever get. When you finally see the bow as he is stretching it, getting it ready to string, you get the real deal. Exposed sinew, no flashy paint job, one of the limbs is out of whack and not perfectly aligned like you'd see in builds today. This bow is as it would have been. A work horse. It's meant to serve a purpose for survival and protection. It should be left up to the archer that built his own bow as to how they care to decorate or not.
I’m so thankful for each of your videos. You’re a huge inspiration for my soul the last year and going forward. Thank you for sharing this knowledge with us, you’re truly a special talent. Not many things impress my Father and Grandfather, but I show them your videos and they stay amazed at your amount of know-ho. So yeah, salute. And if you ever find a way to spread this knowledge beyond RUclips, let me be the first to know, please Odin
A wonderful video of a good way to make a Scythian Bow. Not cluttered with words, or music. Just real Life with Crickets, Wind and Rain...and the sound of dedicated work with your hands and tools. My Dog really paid attention to the sawing sounds. Oh, if only my People would come and some of them could learn, from you, this valuable way! Thank you, Stiliyan Stefanov. For showing Us your Good Way to a Scythian Bow. I am really looking forward to "Part 2".
Stiliyan, I hope you are having an amazing day. As always your videos bring me such happiness, only a few books or videos give me this feeling. I'm already looking foward to the finished project! I absolutely love everything Scythian - maybe one day you try your hand at some intricate Scythian gold carving hahaha Have a great and productive week!
Hi stiliyan! Im 15 years old from greece and i relly love your videos! I should try making such a complex bow sometime,i have only built a longbow recently and it turned out really cool, this inspired me on making more bows.
And are most of your vids in Bulgaria or all? Ive only heard the name, but your videos bring that place to life. I would have never guessed it was so wild and beautiful. What an amazing place
You do have some incredible skills. These are some great videos to watch. I am curious as to what white wood you are using, and it looks like your saw is using a piece of wire for cutting.
Интересный метод изготовления СКИФА с вклейкой посередине плеча рога и верхней наклейке рога. А где продолжение и результат отстрела изделия? Итог каков? Что получилось?
I was breathless watching all the process!!! I don't need to tell anything, you are bowmaking hero and I admire your skills and knowledge in ancient technologies. That's insane!!! I am only in confusion about knots/nodes on the wooden laths. Saw such ones in acer tartaricum and never had a courage to use it. It bends severe like a gum without crack! :O However there's clean surface in what is supposed to be bending section even rest of ridged limb should bend a bit. Did you care of knots? Edited: You seem utilized knotty piece with larger clean section for the grip spliced in limbs. Can't wait to see that Bulgaro - Thraco-Scythian bow to rock hell out of target :) Поздрави Стилијан!!!! feel so happy and inspired!!!
@@StiliyanStefanov I've noticed clean pieces. I even immediately edited my comment because I thought you've used free surface of knotty piece for the grip that is shorter. Anyway, you're one of my bowmaking heroes ever and awesome person (Y) Anyone's success makes me happy because I simply cannot make composite bows but you and some other bowyers make my dreams come true...
Bonjour, formidable votre vidéo. C'est quoi votre scie avec un fil pour couper la corne ? . patrick Dupré, Montpellier. Je vais essayez de me fabriquer un arc Mongol???? Pas évident. Vous étes un grand artiste.
This video is perfect! I like your videos. (I not be a good English speaker sorry) But if it's possible, i have a question. You use maple tree? (Acer pseudoplatanus or juhar in my language). I wish you all the best!
First of all, thank you so much vor the video, I really like it and learned a lot from it. But I have a question, whats the name of the wood you are using ?
Awesome video sir! I did not know that there was a piece of horn sandwiched between the pieces of wood that make up the limbs of the bow. Is this the traditional way the Scythian bows were made?
So amazing to watch such incredible craftsmanship! What do you use for the glue to bind the horns and the wood? I've seen this before in other bowling videos where it looks like it's warmed in something but is it an old bonding solution like sap or pitch?
7:22 is believed was their original tree. What this guy uses, no idea. It was not his first time, i promise you that, i can tell he is good. Bulgarians do use Scythian bows a lot. ruclips.net/video/iEgJbGdFOuc/видео.html&ab_channel=ArcheryHistorian

I know I'm a little late, but I got a question Why did they glue the horn in between the limbs 6:20 rather than in the belly? What the difference between those two methods?
I must inform u that Szkita aka scythian is ancient greek and it was their name given to the Huns/Magyars and it means the bow flexers or flexers of the "infamous" bow. Reflex bone bow at that. Pls voice facts rather than misinformation. Its sickening how much ignorance plagues our poor planet. Hunor s magor is research u can start with. Egyazisten
Szabo is absolutely correct, scythian comes from Hirodotus, study the history of bows and archery not just religion. To state facts is of the utmost importance. I too have studied The Bible,The Quran ,Hadith etc. And have great respect for Abraham,Ibrahim. The truth matters ...
Looking like a Chinese bow is it? Or recurve bow. Is this from the Mongols or developed previously perhaps..I know the Scythians predate Genghis etc. Geographically speaking did East Asia share the same practices in bow making? I'd love to see a test in re range plus power between say and English longbow the Japanese and say the Mongol/steppe bow. I guess similar in strength. The English longbow took years to build up the strength needed and I don't think the Eastern type bows needed as much strength to draw the bow but benefitted from better/stronger construction?
Scythian Bow predate golden horde with 1500 years its one of the first so called composite bows it have bigger curves and the bow is a little bit bigger than middle age composite bows but still a cavalry bow one of the first
This man is one of the best bow makers I have ever seen,He can make the most beautiful bows I have ever scene from all the world

I really like the rope binding technique, applies considerable clamping force while minimizing damage. pretty sweet...

Awesome, I love Scythian material culture. Any chance to see a part two, or the finished bow?
Hi Stiliyan...this is a very interesting project...I love the old techniques you are using! 👍👍👍

If that is where you live, then I am very jealous. That scenery is beautiful.

any idea when Part two will be available? interested to see the sinew backing and the tillering of a bow like this.

Exelent work love the videos keep them coming. And how do u bend the wood like that without braking it. Is it not dry yet?
Thank you! Steam bending.
How do you manage to bend the wood so sharply without wood coming off the belly?
What animal horn did you use?
Work of art♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
That tool at 10:34 is amazing
How's that glue drying ? Were ready to see that beautiful bow come together .
Muy buen trabajo ... bonito video. ... me suscribo. Saludos

Awesome video sir! I did not know that there was a piece of horn sandwiched between the pieces of wood that make up the limbs of the bow. Is this the traditional way the Scythian bows were made?
Thank you! Yes, it is traditional way for a scythian bows.
Great work. Would Elm be ok
how do you soften the horns? just boil them or soak in chemical solutions?
Look the video carefully!
Verry nice bow! :)-
wow - great Work it is master bpwmaker
The glue. I take that it's made from rindering the skin ? Would love to see that done
Have you tried boiling the horn first then cut it, while soft, with a pair of tin shears? I think it will save you a lot of energy.
So amazing to watch such incredible craftsmanship! What do you use for the glue to bind the horns and the wood? I've seen this before in other bowling videos where it looks like it's warmed in something but is it an old bonding solution like sap or pitch?
What kind of glue you using?
Does almond wood work?
Which wood did you use? Thank you so much.

What type of wood do you use when you do this? is it something you do often or was this a one-off. It didn't look like it was the first time.

I read his comment ruclips.net/video/l8m1kNcFOXg/видео.html&ab_channel=tubesoleum
5:00 I can almost smell this part of the video
Whitch wood did you use?
Id love to own one of your bows although I know I could never afford one ill need to just try ànd make my own
Can you use the shavings from the horn for glue?
No! Its keratin. We need gelatin.
