Judging by results The Riddler is second most successful villain going against Batman. About five sixths of his plan was achieved and Riddler's most potent move came with complete surprise.
great essay! i've been obsessed with him since the movie came out. i love everything in the batman, and his scenes were my favorite. the coulson scene especially was his best imo. i love that he was trying to be entertaining/funny to his viewers but came off as terrifying. i feel like that's THE riddler in his core
Rewatching the movie and my god I thought I found errors in Riddler plan but no it was covered through dialogues and visual, Matt Reeves literally wrote the movie to oblivion, I really couldn't find any dirt at all, like I was trying to say Batman should use the leaked images of corrupted people to locate Riddler's apartment, but that won't work since Riddler has 2 ID, Batman cant falsely accuse some guy, Gordon needs a warrant and more evidences in order to search the place, because it takes place in modern time, images could be photoshoped therefore its hard to connect the dots .Moreover, Batman actually discovered the orphanage kids, (the spray paint scene) that had an urge for Thomas wayne, but there are so many Riddlers/Orphans, Batman can't decide who's the real one, on top of that Riddler even use fake ID, Edward Nashton would flew over Batman head. What am I saying? The Riddler won in every way; this movie shows the best scenario of Batman losing, because if it were a different route, Batman wouldn't learn his lesson like JESUS. Reeves, you are insane.
Unpopular opinion- I didn’t like his character here. I feel like he was doing too much, when he started singing Ave Maria I was actively cringing. I don’t think the acting was bad per se, I just don’t think his dialogue and his character was written well. He wasn’t particularly menacing or entertaining, I get that he was doing a social outcast thing but it felt like he was just doing a weirder version of his character in Prisoners [2013] (great movie btw).
Bro just because you found it cringey does not mean it's bad written. To me him singing, it's literally him being insane, I dont know how you found that stuff funny, maybe tik tok ticked your head or maybe you remembered this movie was fictional and they were acting thus you found it funny since you already de attached to the movie I guess.
The Riddler in this movie further proves that Hollywood doesn’t understand internet culture as much as internet culture understands Hollywood. The current slate of DC projects are not very good or interesting movies. The Joker is little more than an amalgam of far superior Scorsese films. The Batman is little more than an amalgam of far superior Fincher films. The Penguin is little more than an amalgam of The Sopranos.
Poor Hello Kitty 😢
she deserved it

Agreed. I thought it was Paul Dano; he seemed to be playing a character similar to many of his other films. Which is just Paul Dano.
