This makes me excited because I'm rebuilding a BMW 550i with the n63. So watching your videos helps me make sure I don't miss anything and is getting me hyped to have my car running again soon
It's honestly just a matter of patience. Watch as many videos as you can, use BMW manuals and clean the parts (and your workspace) as much as you can. It is not really as hard as it looks, but really time consuming. It's worthwhile though specially if you really like the car
Hey guys I wish there were guys like you that could work on motors over here like that because they cant and I live in california I have an X5M. They don't even want to replace the bearings at the bottom of the motor because they don't know how to do it. But thank you for showing me
The S63 has two cooling reservoirs, one for the engine and one for the turbines. How many liters of coolant are in each reservoir? Is it the same type of coolant?
It depends on the car but you can easily use 15 litres if your system is empty. I’d use the blue Copland however you need to ensure that’s the current coolant in there cause you cannot mix them
Hi, I spent about $10k (Australian dollars) but half of that was to sleeve the block and repair the work the first machine shop did ! If you have a perfectly running (or lightly smoking) S63 or N63 there is a possibility of doing the rebuild for under US $4k - Fingers crossed your crank isn't damaged

@dnl35projects awesome, thanks for the content... I need to service my trans and diffs. I like to change all fluids so I know when it was done 😅
Nice work bro
Thanks
I love your content man is awesome! It’s helping me out a lot, as I’m about to get into the same deal 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Where are you from by the way?
Thanks !
I’m in Sydney, Australia - happy to give you a hand with your car if you live nearby 👍
Wow nice work. If this happened to me , I wil auction the car as dead vehicle haha
hahaha Yes fixing it takes a long time
Do you think the aftermarket oil cap is helping with the oil burning issue snice it releases crank case pressure during hard accleration?
Hi, I never heard of this aftermarket cap however my belief is that if your PCV / CCV system is working as it should there will be no need for that
high pressure gas pumps they r 2 on this engine life spam 120k miles (10 years and they have recalls also ccv hoses too 10 year recall time )
Correct !
Warranty extensions not recalls:)
Kicked in the guts!
hahaha

@@dnl35projects Cool, in my case it's also an X5 M E70.
Then I could put the same coolant in both reservoirs.
What was the total cost of rebuild? I have pretty loud rod knock at 161000 miles and looks like I'm headed down that path.

What for is that cooler 90 degrees opposite to all others?
You meant that cooler laying flat in front of everything ? Thats part of the low temperature system (cools the intercoolers)
@@dnl35projects I thought passenger side intake is for intercooler?
Driver side is oil cooler, right?
