  • This film highlights Timber Creek (FL) graduate and 2020 FHSA Class 4A champion Amber Schulz.
Earlier this year, Schulz shared how she faced one of her biggest fears with the help of those around her: Family, friends, teammates and the online community. From there, as she details in this film, she took steps toward recovery from her eating disorder.
Since filming, Schulz has graduated and is now on the cross country and track and field team at High Point University. She continues to make steps in the right direction when it comes to her recovery and being transparent on her social media.

This is one of the first interviews I’ve listened to where anorexia is actually described as a kind of separate identity, apart from the individual. That little voice in her head. So spot on.

I love this and I love following Amber through her journey. However, I don't see why it was necessary to include weight numbers. I understand they were trying to talk about the dangers of anorexia, but starvation in and of itself is dangerous --- no matter what you weigh. The number is only relevant to Amber, not to others. I'd love to see a change in how we approach these conversations so that society can stop viewing EDs as solely a "thin person" problem.

Amazing story and comeback! As a former runner and recovered anorexic and orthorexic, I really don't think it's necessary to include so many triggering numbers (calories, weights, etc.) especially since so many runners are already hyper-focused on numbers.

Great video and but no need to include numbers (weight). Only drives comparison that eating disorders thrive off of.

Indeed. Who the heck edited this?! Clearly they know nothing. Also, it was obvious she was anorexic from her vlogs but somehow her mom didn’t notice?! Her mom must be really warped too…

While I believe that spreading awareness is fantastic, there is no need to share weights, calories, or before and after pictures.

Amazing inspirational story. Thank you for sharing. Something not talked about but so prevalent and not only in CC (gymnastics, figure skating etc).

Psychology shows that we all turn (change into) a new person every 7 years..... Good for you to go through those ascensions with your best foot forward towards the greater good..... Love & Light. (But practice it by standing in the grey)
