You lost some gold when you went straight to AR instead of letting the hcl remove all of the tin, draining the hcl and rinse thoroughly and then go to AR. That's why your fist drop was so dirty it pulled down tin and other impurities.
I question your statement of "lost some gold"... I doubt the gold dissolution into Aqua Regia was decreased because of the presence of other metals.
The purity reference is valid, however, both are easily remedied in various ways, from Borax in the smelting, to reprocessing in Aqua Regia, there is also, inquarting with lead, copper or silver and then Cupellation to remove the inquarted metals.
So,while I agree the gold was less pure, correcting purity levels is a minimal concern.
@@navschannel3908 I've been refining gold for years. Tin can kill your yield. It turns into what is called metastannic acid. This doesn't melt, it's non-soluble and it traps gold inside the crap. Not to mention its almost impossible to filter out. Metastannic acid isn't easily reverted back to tin, you need an oxy-fuel torch to get it hot enough to remove the nitrate attached to the tin.
@@MrMackievelli I appreciate you response, and would like to point out a couple of minor points that have bearing on this thread.
The Metastannic acid issue is resolved primarily through "heat" as in, the amount of heat to revert to tin sulfide is fairly low. Not sure where your reference to Oxy Fuel Torch comes in... secondarily, melting the tin away is not needed, when employing the cupellation process, as the inquarted metal from smelting with either lead, copper or silver, will shear the tin away from the gold and into the amalgamated metal created during inquarting. Then the cupell will literally suck the tin out of the gold into the cupell.
If this is in error, please explain. I"ve found that cupellation is annoying, but effective.

Not all gold precipitated in the first round because you covered the buckets. Gold precipitation needs ultraviolet light. You should have tested solution for gold with stannous chloride.

Such a wasteful process! I don't know how much nitric costs there but you would have lost major money using 4 liters of nitric for just 3.5g. Should have pyrolized the boards first.
