Hi, I'm a computer technician from México. I've keep for a few years 80+ motherboard, 80+ DIMM's, 80+ SODIMM's, 100+ processors, a big box of optical and floppy drive controller boards, a nice bunch of lcd driver and pci boards, about 2Kg of gold plated pins and connectors... It's worth the effort trying to process all of this? First time trying, none of this materials have had any costs, all are replaced ruined parts.

How did you separate the ic chips and the plastic pins from the board??
You can use a hammer and chisel or a soldering iron with a flat tip, I'm not sure how he did it though

Serious question. What happens to the arsenic used for doping ic chips? I'm not a tree hugger... I refine on a small level and scared the sh1t out of myself the other day. 😬
Long story short. I was processing old soloutions and picked up a sweet smell. I had a beaker with some palladium chloride stuck to it. When I added hcl to dissolve it... It crystalized in an odd manner that made it look like an oil had formed.
This "oil" combine with the sweet smell... My mind immediately jumped to Arsenic. Arsine is a deadly gas, produced by arsenic in nitric acid, and it degrades in heat to Arsenic oxide. Which reacts with hcl to form arsenic chloride. An oil also know as (arsenic butter). Also deadly toxic.
So at this point I'm freaking out... I'm thinking, " Sh1t now I'm gonna have to call hazmat and explain how I just killed myself and 20-30 neighbors." (Arsenic sublimes and it's salts have low vapor pressures releasing toxic fumes.)
Just as I'm about to toss it in my emergency chemical bucket that has an airtight lid. I decided to take another look in better light... It was just weird circular crystals. 😂
Point being. You are processing way bigger loads of ic chips then me. I figured you might be able to enlighten me a bit about the topic of arsenic and cyanide doping in ic chips... and how it affects your processing. (Or maybe it is trapped in the silica glass?)

Why not just melted down and then purify it with a Lead bath instead of using all those chemicals. People have been using fire to purify gold for thousands of years.
