I lived with my grandmother as a young boy, and she told me many stories about her youth during the first decade of the 1900s. She also worked as a model at John Wanamaker's in Philadelphia in 1908 and '09. She told me a lot about Evelyn Nesbit and what was called the trial of the century. It was fascinating to hear about her youth as a girl in her 20s working at a famous department store "parading back and forth in front of ritzy dames" as she described it while modeling gorgeous Edwardian dresses stylish at that time. I'm very old now, almost 90, and I hate to think of all the beautiful photos I have framed on the wall of my grandmother as a young girl being destroyed for sure. At least I have preserved them for more than 50 years. Your take on Evelyn Nesbitt was interesting and sparked lots of memories of stories my dear grandmother told me.
@@megwen826 Thank you very much for your comment. If you would please assure me they would not be eventually destroyed because of lack of interest, I wold love to give my large and beautiful shadow box with her lovely photos at ages 17, 19, 23, and 26, fancy hat pins, plume feather from one of her hats, calling card with her maiden name when she worked as a model at John Wanamaker's in Philadelphia, school attendance certificate from 1896, and lovely old valentine from her sister Vera who died at the age of 6 in 1905. Also included is a scrap of paper I found stuck between pages of her dictionary several years after her death written in her handwriting: "Remember me and what a girl I use to be." I dearly loved my grandmother and have never forgotten living with her as an overly sensitive young boy and the wonderful stories she told me of her youth. I quickly stopped sharing her stories with friends of mine at that time as they were not interested in hearing about an old lady's memories, and some of them made fun of me. Glad I lived long enough to write an unpublished book personal history including my grandmother. Sorry to go on, but wanted you to understand these are about my grandmother and not Evelyn Nesbit, although my grandmother told me a lot about Evelyn Nesbit, as well as the horrible news of the Triangle Waist Company fire in 1911 with the "loss of all those innocent girls" and the sinking of the Titanic "boys screaming the headlines when I came out of Wanamaker's after work" the terrible treatment of some carriage horses on the streets of Philadelphia that she witnessed. I don't want any money for this shadow box, but it cost me about $500 in 1997 when I had it done at a professional framer where I live. Please let me know. It is heavy and hanging on my wall in perfect condition, but I would prefer to not send it through the mails.
She was a little before my time,. But lik I say… That’s Hollywood. It is political now . That’s why the award shows are going down in ratings big time. They should not talk about politics. They should just pick up your award , thank your family and friends and get off the stage.
Sorry if it upsets your sensitivities but in these times I like that they use their constitutional right of free speech to call out fascists like Trump and his ilk. I wish maga would stfu.
