    The Content-Aware Scale by itself does a fantastic job of recognizing the important objects in the photo and only stretched the blurred areas or seamless areas, like the out-of-focus background or the sky. This helps in stretching the background (not the subject) to fit today's sizes, like, Facebook cover, RUclips channel art etc. But just like any other automatic tools in Photoshop, it has its own limitations. To counter those limitations, the tools also comes bundled with some hidden or hard to find featured. In this video, out main focus would be on those features where you can tell Photoshop which objects are important and which are not. We will also find ways to make the most out of the tool by tricking it into thinking something which would work for our own advantage.

    It is easy to see that you not only have a great passion for your subject but you have mastered communicating that passion to those who wish to learn. It is easily seen by the image of you always pleased to share your knowledge as you lead us through a thorough technical explanation of your subject at hand. You are a gifted teacher and have been able to show me many paths in both photoshop and lightroom that previously had been so difficult to grasp. I know we are all grateful for your mastery.

    I am a HUGE fan of your videos. HUGE I say! I did want to point out something, as I have noticed you don't seem to use this trick. If you do and I've missed it, please accept my apologies! When you are transforming or cropping and you want your image cropped or transformed equally from both/all sides: Hold down ALT while you are transforming the box. It keeps the transform handles equal from your center point. So, in the gray background with guy example or the flower example, you would not have had to move the image after you finished your crop. I just double checked and it works the same way with Content Aware. :)

    Hi, thanks for all your great tutorials! I'm trying to do this tutorial in order to stretch photos but it doesn't work for me. I follow your instructions one by one and when I scroll the photo to stretch it, it makes it just bigger from all sides, up-down and to the size, and the subject looks very bad. Do you have any idea what can be the reason for that? That photoshop won't allow me to stretch only to the side? I tried several pictures. It's really frustrating 😕. I would appreciate your help very much.

    how come when i stretch the canvas i get a background colour?

  • @alanm.6096
    @alanm.6096 2 года назад

    Not sure if anything has changed, but it seems Adobe would just some simple programming changes to simplify the process and prevent stretching the subject.
    Another idea: if not too much stretching is required, simply draw a box with marquee tool, include a bit of the colour at the edge, and hit Fill > Content Aware Fill.
    Can be pretty amazing.
