Correct. Which is why I Jack my car up from side to side. There’s some vehicles, mostly trucks that have a steel frame like bar near the oil pan where you can Jack the front up. I appreciate your comment. You’re very correct about this
@@alsauto2917 Could you slide some ramps under the tires once jacked and then use stands & lower it down so everything is supporting some weight? Some may say overkill but who cares if you can still get the work done?
I have never done that personally but it sounds like a great idea! I don’t think anything can be considered “overkill” when it comes to safety. Ramps or Jack stands are good enough but no harm done having both to give extra protection.
Yes, we need to Jack it up. Make sure to use jack stands, or you can use ramps to raise the car, I don’t normally use those though, just my preference. I know it can be scary but I believe in you. I’m sure you can find a detailed video to show you how to raise the car without hurting yourself somewhere on the internet. You got this 💪🏽
Chi H yes I did have a washer on the drain plug. I’m sorry if it was visible enough. I usually get my drain plug washers from advance auto parts. So any auto parts store should have them. Thank you for your question. Have an awesome week!
Chi H you have a good question, advance auto parts sells a package with various washers how ever I have never seen any sizes. To have an exact size for the washer you probably have to go to the dealer unfortunately. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help. I’ll do some research and see if I can find anything. Thank you.
No leak. If there’s a leak you would see oil around the gasket of the oil pan. Having black oil come out isn’t reason for alarm, it’s just dirty but it’s normal. Do be wary of sludge, it’s something different but if you’re doing your regular maintenance I would not worry about that.
For minor things like an oil change yes, but depending how high you need the vehicle or if you’re doing brake work or suspension work or something like a tire rotation, not really, I’m used to using the jack and jack stands and like my vehicle high enough where I can easily crawl in and out from under it. Just my preference, thank you for your comment
How often do you get your oil changed? It sounds like you’re burning oil. But as long as as it’s in the middle of those two holes on your dipstick it shouldn’t hurt your engine but I’d still recommend you looking into why your car is burning oil.

What kind of vehicle do you have? Cars like Honda’s have what’s called “Unibody” which is basically the body and the frame combined, look a just next to the lift point underneath the car, there maybe what looks like a frame, from there, move the jack closer to the middle of the car just enough to fit the jack stand, and then start raising the car. I hope this helps, I will try my best to make a quick video of this when I get a chance and tag you if you’re interested.
Be careful not to jack into oil pan, ramps work better

Nice job - I like your style of delivery (relaxed as opposed to these overly hyper approaches). Keep doing what you're doing.
Thank you so much!
Amazing video. Very informative as well and detailed!
This is really helpful, thank you!
Loved this video! Do you have to jack the car to drain the oil? I'm scared I'll do it wrong and it will land on my head 😅

Great video! Very thorough. Same way I approach my work. Thank you!
So engine has to be cold to check on transmission fluid?
Only on Hondas. Every other vehicle needs to be running to check the transmission.
@@alsauto2917 thanks
Helped a lot, thanks Al !
Glad it helped!
Great Video - Lots of detail and nice presentation - Thanks Al

I’m glad it helped!
Nice video man..very helpful
Thank you! I’m glad it helped!!
Did you have a washer on the drain plug?
Where did you buy the washer?

What size is the washer? Thx

Typically yes.
You’re the best, I needed this so much! thank you!!
Glad it helped!
It’s called a spill mat. The black ones are for coolant, the white ones are for oils.
Gotta get some gloves Al! 🧤 😊
Thank you for this video.
I’m glad it helped!
Is the transmission oil not suppose to be measured when the engine is running ?????
Transmission oil usually yes but not on Honda’s.
Great video thank you
Is it normal the color black on oil pan?
Yes it is.
What is that black? Im just worried about my car. Is not leak?
Thank u bro

Why u check battery when u do oil change?
It doesn’t hurt to check your fluids and the battery while you’re around the engine.
A set of ramps !!! ( much easier )

My toyota goes from the top to near the bottom of the dipstick over 10k miles. Is that okay? It has done 107k miles.

A pair of ramps for oil change is much faster and convenient.

Where to put the Jack and Jack stand if you're lifting the car using the side point? The Jack would take room for the Jack stand.

@@alsauto2917 Yeah, that would be great. Thanks. I have a 12 Honda Fit
5W-20? Mine says 0W-20 on a 2011. When I search the specs it’s the 0 weight.. same engine as this one, why is it different here?
I see.. 2010 is 5w and 2011 0w.. interesting
Faster way to raise the car is to drive over two 2 x4 pieces of wood!
Very true. Or ramps you can find at advance auto parts. Thank you for your comment!
