Long time not playing D&D2, So planning to do some rechallenge, Very beautiful and cute character be able to use both magic and sword, the weakness of elf is her defense is so bad, if she got attacked by enemies will losing a lot of HP, luckily, after she gained the lendary sword, everything will be smooth for her, this time also only used Large Burning Oil twice, to prove to everyone that this game is not all about LBO.

Dude your boss strats are incredible. If I knew this kind of stuff as a kid in the arcade I would've been crowned king. Awesome!

One of the best co-op beat-em-ups of all time. I put so many quarters in this game in my youth, and the Elf was always my main (the Cleric was my alt). Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I miss playing this at the arcades, back in the late 90s/early 2000s. Playing with 4 players is very rare back then. I usually alternates between the Fighter, Mage and Elf. My friend either plays Cleric or Thief. If we get a 4 player game, it is always Fighter, Mage, Cleric and either Thief or Elf.
Also, Fun Fact: Different costumes for the Elf, Magic User and Cleric means you get different spells.
MU and Cleric had different spells but I think the Elf's spells were the same between P1 and P2

* All 4 players have to have >1mil EXP
* One player MUST be a Magic User and have the "Staff Of Wizardry" equipped
* All 4 players must be at full health (bring a Cleric or be a god at the game!)
If these three conditions are fulfilled, everyone has to hit Attack+Jump+Use AT THE SAME TIME (yes, FOUR people need to synchronize!)
All 4 players will go down to 1HP, and you will lose the Staff Of Wizardry, but it will kill any boss in the game, including the final one.
Same for Magic user. For Syous (Black) you get Conjure Elemental and Meteor Swarm, for D'Raven (Green) you get Cloudkill and Power Word Kill
@@Lenoh I've done it and there were somethings that were wrong (not saying that you were completely wrong though). Firstly, while you can do it with 4 mombers, you can already do it with 3 members. Secondly, it unfortunately doesn't one-hit kill the final boss but it takes a lot of health (around 1 bar or 1.5 bars, might be more). If you're ever unsure if you meet the requirements for Final Strike, it's very simple to check, just see if the Staff of Wizardry is glowing, if yes, then you're good to go. Also nice detail about the EXP requirement, never noticed it
The graphics, characters, storyline and gameplay were unparalleled!!
Graphics and gameplay were refurbished from other games prior lol
None the less always enjoy the games like this
One things for sure the loading screens were better here than Diablo 2. 😂

I remember playing with 4 players, this game was insane. When doing that legendary sword trick. I did not know about the jumping.
Incredible! I never beat this one in the arcade, but I dropped a lot of quarters into it. Also, I just realized the elf uses the same fighting moves as Linn Kurosawa from Capcom's AVP arcade game. She even has the same victory yell!
I didn't remember how satisfying is Lightning bolt double hit on ezerhorder 🤤
capcom was KING of the arcade: street fighter versus fighting, final fight co-op fighting, this game & knights of the round also co-op fighting, super ghouls & ghost (side scrolling platformer lol) and many other games. capcom needs a "roots down" corporate revolution lol
I already liked this game a lot, but seeing this makes me think the game is even better. There are some crazy secrets in there, and if you can actually figure out how your wide arsenal of items, spells and attacks work, they really are tools that allow you to succeed without pumping in quarter after quarter. Not sure how anyone would figure out half that stuff in an arcade, but it does feel like the developers went the extra mile on the amount of content they put into this arcade game.

@@josemarialopezcasas2046 capcom made a wider array of games than snk: final fight, captain commando, a series of dungeons & dragons games (shadow over mystara), knights of the round, breath of fire, ghouls-n-ghosts; capcom had a ton of great titles that weren't fighting games. snk had metal slug lol

I think this was one of the best ideas for an arcade game of all time.

Elf looks like Deedlit. Or is it the other way around? I always found great similarity in art style between Record of Lodoss (Rhodos, really..) War and these two D&D games :)
Little bit of both id wager pretty standard elf look but Deeds a major influence on many elfen arts so
The D&D games came out in 1994 and 1996; Lodoss was already a big deal in Japan for years at that point, so I'm assuming the dev team was inspired by Lodoss. That said, the D&D brand management is pretty strong; all these monsters look like their entries in the Monster Manual.
@@digitaljanus Heck D&Ds older then that 1974 was when it was first published and the original run for lodoss was 1988 shortly after when the original author based it on a role play scenario hed created at the time.
that said youre correct though in that it had a major influence on lodoss with a lot of the monsters and basic story structure
I recall Lodoss was based on BECMI's rules. I believe Lodoss's creators did want to license Lodoss as another BECMI setting but TSR declined sadly.
Would've been interesting to see if they had allowed it and whether Lodoss could've come along through the various editions.

This game is absolutely amazing, always played it with my dad and sister.. My dad went with Thief, my sister with either Elf or Dwarf, and I with Magic User
I don't know if it's more hilarious to see the dragon bosses one-shot by lightning, or to see other bosses get completely melted by 9 large oil pots.
This was both incredibly nostalgic and incredibly impressive to watch
I knew of the large burning oil strat, because I used to actually know an arcade machine of this years ago and saw some very good players use it. Also, spamming hammers against the harpy boss and normal oils.
the lightning attack on dragon is counted as critical. can do 3 normal hits, then do lightning bolt is also counted critical too.

I tested the lightning bolt and it doesnt take so much damage...at all.

Red Dragon and Shin
You can empty the gauge from full by hitting large oil when returning from falling rocks.
The point is to apply large oil with your face on the ground thread.
If you want to be sure, you should have a rod of fire and earrings

Dragon's Crown is technically a spiritual successor to the Capcom Dungeons and Dragons beat-em ups.
These were always my favorite beat'em ups in the arcades other than the Konami ones.
The classic arcade style of this is tremendously nostalgic.

Hi there, so sorry to get back to you so late, there's a trick for all characters to use thunder kill the red dragon or Synn for instant. there's a calculate formular in the game, which means, you attacking Red Dragon and Synn 3 hits, then the 4th's hit will suddenly leading the huge dragon into a special situation, which is the damages caused by LB was adding up. Of course, by the time you'll be able to fight the red dragon and Synn, the character's Level already up to a certain level, for example, magic user at that that already up to Level 18. On top of that, he had to have the green earring to increase the power of the magic. So the damage of magic user just use LB are 36, But magic use us the LB magic will do 14 parts of damages to the Red Dragon and Synn, The first part's first hit are 45, the formulater is 36 x 1.25, the second part are 55, so the formulor are 45 x 1.25, but, once you on top of that have the staff of LB, will increaing more powers, so, short in one sentence: 3Hits+ LB, make sure your have the earring, will causing the huge damages for Red Dragon and Synn. Elf's 3 hits attack, we can use: A+→A+↓↘→A to do the first 3 hits, then use LB(make sure you have earrings on you, if you have Staff of LB even better), Thief and Fighter are better use AAA+ring of LB, Dwarf use →A(can beat the dragons 3 hits already)+ ring of LB, magic user can use A+→A+A, then LB. Really needs a lot of practices, once you get used to it, it's going to be super easy. Hopefully I made everything clear to you :) wish you success!

We acquired such a high level of play that we finished the game without using items, that's right, just in the fight, WITHOUT ITEMS. Nulkzone type. I could only use a healing ring! What's the trick with Lightning Bolt? I'm pretty sure, when I played this game back in the days, I must have used that spell vs every Boss, but never to that effect (killing it in almost 1 hit). I remember fast killing bosses but with the Dwarf (who's truly broken)
When Eyes shut use lightning bolt. Damn bug.

You ditched your lightning bolt magic before the lich attacked, but you were smart enough to save the gnomes (and get the magic spells you needed). What was with the jumping after you healed yourself magically?
I think it's to avoid the damage from the cursed sword, since to turn it into the Holy Avenger you have to swing it a number of times.
@@meriscorditan2799 But did she keep the Holy Avenger or just dump it? If she kept it for the Holy powers after paying the "blood price" for it, then I wouldn't have a problem. If she dumped it, then I would have rather she chucked it when it was still "Cursed Sword" and not bled out to redeem it. If you're not going to use it, why keep it? (I think Elf and Thief could use Swords, and one Thief playthrough I saw the Thief get the Holy Avenger only to throw it into the "trash can".)
@@theodorehsu5023 From what I saw, this playthrough kept the Holy Avenger from that point on. I think it's the most powerful weapon in the game. :EDIT: Whoops, I was wrong. That sword is the 'Sword of Legend' which is actually the most powerful weapon in the game. the Holy Avenger is acquired much earlier and needs to be picked up by a Cleric eight times to be usable.
@@meriscorditan2799 The Sword of Legend is what the Cursed Sword becomes after "paying the blood price." Is it stronger than the "Dragon Slayer" sword? But one good Lightning Bolt to the face of the Red Dragons is enough to KO them :)

you need 3 hit and lightning bolt attack timed well as the 4th hit. Using black cloak and lightning staff / earrings will help with the damage as well.

Always thought it was funny that the character design for Deedlit in Record of Lodoss War was just straight up ripped from the D&D book.

This was old-school "Basic" D&D, which had a different class system from its alternate system, "Advanced" D&D.
I forgot this even existed!😅

@@michaelpf08How about elf, but you fight the boss normally? Lighting bolt doesn't one shot the boss for me so I normally die a lot. Use lbo if you want to, I would love to see different strategies

Holy Molly this LB crit @ Man Scorpion for 2\3 of his health ... it was luck right or its setup?
at the beggining of the first stage, when you sign your name, make sure you sign the name to gain the earring, as long as you have the earrings with you, your magic's power will be increased, then at that scene, do not kill any of small scorpions on the groud, when you use LB, make sure attack the scorpions on the groud first, the last strike to the Boss, then the power will adding up to the Boss :)

What is this nonsense with lightning bolt taking so much damage ?!
I tested it just a moment ago and it barely takes the scorpion man any damage at all !
First, you need to have the green magic earrings on you, otherwise the power of the magic won’t increase; second, you want to making sure do not skill any small scorpions on the ground, leave them alive, before the Boss Scorpion came out, open the invisibility magic, that will trigger him going up, now you use Lightning Bolt magic and moving up, make sure you attack the small scorpions on the ground first then finally moving to the Boss scorpion, then the power of magic will adding up which will comes out a super strike on the Boss scorpion. Hopefully I explained everything clearly to you:)
